"Hey, Reyna if I become the most well-known man in the world because of this I will definitely give you credit, for I would not have known to look down here."
"Why not it has most elements we need in here, this would've been my first guess," Reyna said with a smirk on her face.
"When you're a genius you forget about certain things," Zeak said as if it was an obvious answer to her remark.
"So what are you going to do with it now?" Reyna asked trying not to smack Zeak upside his head.
"I'm going to start testing it immediately," Wayne replied while looking at the sludge in the tube.
"I wonder where they got this from?" Wayne wondered inwardly
"Hey Reyna is there any way to tell the origin of this thing"
"Not that I know of, usually this is stuff the field team finds or is donated from higher-ups who found no use for it."
"Hm okay well I don't know what you're going to do but m heading back to start testing," Wayne said as he headed out of the freezer.
Reyna tagged along with Zeak without any reply. They walked back to the lab and started experimenting on the substance to see its functionality.
"Man we've been at it for five hours and have yet to even discover what this does, maybe this was placed there as a joke," Wayne said out of frustration for he is used to solving problems easily, especially with his ability to where his mind turns into a living computer and he can solve multiple complex problems at a time with accuracy, but not right it was proving useless.
"Well we did all we could, we know it has living cells in it but it seems to be dormant, we tried waking it but nothing." Reyna let out looking equally disappointed as Zeak on the matter.
Zeak got up from the table and decided to walk out of the lab for a bit to get some fresh air hoping it would give him the clarity he needed.
When he reached outside the building that looked like a brick building that seemed to be smaller on the outside than the inside it was sunset and a relatively cool evening.
Zeak looked into the distance to see some people using their powers for travel while others used luxury cars being driven by their butlers or maids that they have.
"Hey Zeak it'll be alright," Reyna said as she approached Zeaks side.
"I know it will I just feel so close to solving this I can almost taste it."
"What if we try an organic test?" Reyna said as they stood there in silence taking the scenery in.
"I was just thinking about that as a possibility," Zeak said as he finally looked down at Reyna who was up to his chest in height and Zeak was barely six feet tall.
"I know exactly where to go for that at least," Zeak said with a wry smile while scratching the back of his head.
"Alright then lead the way then 'genius' " Reyna let out in a mocking tone.
Zeak went to the animal holding station pretty quickly, he already knew the route like the back of his hand from his previous experiments. As they approached it inside the room through a sliding metal door there was a single desk the size of the room and behind the desk was a staff member and a large glass door.
Through the large glass door, you can see a big field mixed with all types of animals from horses to alligators even though these animals get experimented they still tend to live long lives because of all the healers on stand-by or by having some of the best medicine.
Zeak walked to the desk to talk to the staff member that was there, who was a man that seemed to be in his twenties with brown skin and bright silver eyes.
"Hello, my name is Ron, and welcome to the animal station, what can I do for you?"
"Let me get my buddy, Will."
"Ahh I know exactly who you're talking about give me a few moments," Ron said before going through the glass door.
"Will?" Reyna said after Zeak was done talking to the clerk.
"Yeah, He's a Golden Monkey one of the last few in the world, he's helped me on a few experiments that I had and we built a good rapport," Zeak said with a smile.
"Oh how nice you got yourself a little friend"
"You're my friend too you know," Zeak said while looking at the glass door to see if Ron was close.
"Yeah...I-I know but wh-" before Reyna could finish Zeak saw Will and they both ran to each other for a hug. Reyna was a bit disappointed she couldn't finish but she thought the scene was cute so she just gave a half smile.
"Hey bud I got one of those good for me bad for you situations," Zeak said outright to Will as he was already walking toward the exit with Ron in the background saying his goodbyes.
Will looked at him and puffed his chest as if he can take whatever was thrown at him.
"That's the spirit!" Zeak said excitingly.
They walked for a few minutes until they reached the lab, the lights flickered on as they walked in and Zeak immediately started working on a container for Will to be in for his experiment.
After half an hour, Zeak hailed Will and Reyna over because he was finally done. The container was the size of a crib and it was made out of a thick metal that looked like it could withstand a bomb.
"Alright, buddy it's your time to shine, remember no fear and I will see you after it's done," Zeak said with some hand gestures he gave Will a hug and lead him to the container.
Zeak knew Will could die but he wasn't scared for Will died during plenty of his experiments but because of the healers they can revive him as long as it's within an hour and half of his body intact. Whenever that happened Zeak would always reward Will with something really nice, mostly food.
Reyna had the container in her hand and handed it to Zeak who then walked over to a slot Zeak made for this purpose and poured the sludge into the container.
"Alright Will I'm going to need you to get a little closer to it," Zeak said seeing the sludge was unmoving.
Will who was Mr.Macho was having second thoughts, he didn't know what the sludge was but his instincts were telling him it was nothing good but he ultimately went as far as picking up the sludge.
Nothing happened at first but unexpectedly the sludge seeped into Wills skin while Zeak looked in amazement that he finally saw that it could actually do something.
"Will, how do you feel buddy?"
Will stayed still as if he were stuck in time.
"Hey I got your favo-" Zeak stopped talking as he saw Will's skin shrinking, morphing into his body.
"Oh fuck he might really die we need to get him out," Zeak said in a panic and Reyna opened the door and pulled Will by the arm. As that happened Will exploded into a small mist and the sludge went all over Reyna quickly seeping into her skin.
"Oh fuck, Reyna, talk to me!" Zeak said quickly grabbing the chair. Before he could grab her she dropped to the floor and started screaming.
"Make it stop! In my head!" Reyna let out before convulsing and her skin swelling up until it popped.
Two of his friends died in a matter of two minutes Zeak was speechless, he looked on the floor to see the sludge slowly moving now rather than its previous unmoving activity.
Zeak could've explained Will's death but Reyna would be too much for she was the number three student in the school and her work had the eyes of billionaires.
"I might as well be dead too," Zeak said inwardly with tears streaming down his face.
He grabbed the container it was in and used a meter stick to shovel it in there.
He looked at the sludge in the container and with a grimacing look on his face
"What the fuck are you."
