Before Wayne hung up with Zeak he got his exact location to meet with him, he mentioned to him to not be seen by anyone and that he would try his best to get to him soon. It was midday but the sky began to become cloudy as if it would rain any second. With that said, Zeak decided to find a tree to sit under and pulled his hoodie over his head sulking, he began to think about the past and how he had made a mistake.
After a few minutes, Wayne arrived at where Zeak was, he noticed him to be in a pitiful state. Wayne wondered how he should try to relieve his stress but he couldn't come up with anything besides to be there for him.
"I almost didn't recognize you," Wayne said as he held up his hand in a photo frame gesture " ahh yeah if you keep your face like this, no one will notice you," Wayne let off with a chuckle.
Zeak looked at Wayne and gave him a chuckle that was void of any energy.
"Wayne, since I have a bounty, I'm sure Dr. Greeves told you about me and I can explain," Zeak said looking teary-eyed.
"No need," Wayne gestured, as he went down to Zeaks level to face him eye to eye.
"The Zeak I know wouldn't do the things that he is accusing you of, you're my best friend and I won't just throw that away cause of some random guy," Wayne said as he put his hand on Zeaks shoulder reaffirming to him that he meant his word.
Zeak was touched by Wayne's words, the pain in his heart worsened for he felt he didn't deserve a friend like Wayne. Zeak vowed he would do anything to help him succeed in his goals.
Zeak stopped being sad and his face began to look like he had a new purpose. Wayne seeing this shook his head and got up to look around to see if anyone was looking their way. After he was content he revealed the bounty to Zeak to see if he had any added advice.
"Vernon?"
"So you know him?"
"I know of him, but the little bit I do know isn't good, he destroyed most powered people with just his poison, and knowing that he also has fire, it'll just be difficult to get close to him unless something happens."
Wayne understood Zeak's worry but he had no intention on making it easy for Vernon.
"Vernon may have two abilities, but I have Helgor," Wayne said inwardly. He began wondering what ability he would get if Helgor ate Vernon but then his eyebrows furrowed immediately remembering the pain that came with it.
"I can make something that can help you, you'll just have to give me a few minutes," Zeak said as he looked for a clearing big enough for him to work, he saw an empty dry cleaner and decided to head in there. After they were inside he pulled out a cube and pressed a combination of buttons, this caused it to leap out of Zeak's hands and turn into a chest full of parts and equipment for him to use.
After a few minutes of tinkering, Zeak presented a gun that looked like it came out of star trek.
"What's this?"
"It'll help you if you can't get close, it probably won't kill him, but it'll hurt enough for him to wish he were dead," Zeak said with a sadistic smile.
"Alright well, I need to go now but in the meantime, here's Rain's phone and see if you can unlock it. I'll come back for the answers," with that, Wayne pulled out the device to find his bounty and began heading in that direction.
After several hours and a bunch of asking around, Wayne finally believed he caught up to Vernon, he was in old Detroit and moving at a gingerly pace, as if he didn't have a bounty on him.
When he finally got to where his last clue took him. He saw them in the distance between a fence and a river, one of the people in Vernon's group walked up to the river and began casting an ice path, but as soon as he stopped, the power of the current from the river destroyed his creation.
"Hey, boss this may take me a while." The guy said.
"Don't tell me, just do it! We're so close, once we cross this river we will be able to breathe a little," Vernon said while constantly looking over his shoulder.
Vernon was a tall pale man with red hair that was shaped as if he was in the cast of a bad high school musical.
"Okay, I know I can take this guy," Wayne was hyping himself up before he took action. But before he could do anything he heard a scream coming from one of the camps inside the city. Wayne didn't pay too much attention to this for his task was more important. Then as if the universe had other plans for him he started to feel trembling under his feet.
Wayne used [Shadow Void] to go to the roof of a building to get a better look, but what he saw didn't make sense to him. There was a beast the size of a two-story building with log bunny ears, arms that dangled down nearly touching the floor, and his skin, a flesh-like appearance as if his insides were on his outside.
This new beast's scary appearance would strike fear into anybody because this is the first time anyone was seeing such a thing in existence.
