Wayne sat there nervously wondering what ranking he would be as he remembered that Rain said he was ranked class B. Thinking back to that fight he did have a hard time, if he didn't catch his opponents by surprise he would've been done for. Wayne's brows furrowed thinking if he was to fight someone that knew his skillset he would have more than a hard time.
The rankings were split up into six different categories, Class D, Class C, Class B, Class A, Sidekick, and Hero status. there were about fortyish people in the world that were in hero status. The majority of people were in Class C but even within different classes, there was a power difference. The top tier of the B class was much stronger than people in the same class who were lower in prowess.
This test Wayne was taking was just to see where he could be in terms of potential. After Max stop typing Wayne looked over at him expecting an answer and Max just looked at him with a look of shock.
"By what I'm reading here you're Bottom tier class A, that's amazing for someone you're age. another few years you can get up to hero status." Max finally said after staring at the screen for a while.
"Who would've thought I would've offended some kind of fighting genius," Max said inwardly nervously as he thought things could've been worse if there wasn't a match.
"Class A huh? I wonder how much of it is Helgor and how much is really me?" Wayne wondered to himself as he brought the sphere to the middle of the room and walked to Max that was by the desk of the computer.
"Alright, so now that I know my class how do I go about getting a job as an officer?" Wayne asked.
"Well since you're qualified for the private sector I'm going to have to send you to another post not too far from here that handles high-value jobs like that."
Wayne was a bit disappointed he was redirected to go somewhere else but he knew hearing he would qualify for the private sector was worth all the trouble making Wayne's job easier to get the information he needed."
"Follow me I'm printing out your ID to prove your status of being Class A, what name should I put for it?" Max asked as he got up and headed for the door to go to the lobby.
Wayne thought didn't think about a name until now, he was sure he can use an alias so people won't know him by Wayne. A few moments passed as Wayne followed behind Max thinking of a name.
"That's an ugly name and not too smooth on the tongue," Wayne said after Helgor chimed in.
"What about NightFall?" Wayne asked out loud for Max to hear.
"Hm that sounds pretty cool and mysterious, I like it," Max said while giving a thumbs up to Wayne.
When Max reached the lobby he reached a big machine similar to a printer, it had a touch screen on top of its square surface, and Max pushed a few buttons to turn it on and enter the information needed. The next second a car dropped on the side of the machine where it had a spot to hold it.
"There you go and here is the address of the other post you should be heading for," Max said as he gave Wayne his credentials and tried to shoo him out the door.
"It almost looks like you're trying to get rid of me," Wayne said with a chuckle.
"Of course not I just want you to start doing some good around the city," Max said with a wry smile.
As they headed out the door the other guard that was there was still standing at his post. From his perspective, Max took too long to come back making him question what was going on but just ask doubt was creeping in that's when he saw Max escorting Wayne out of the building from behind him.
"Alright 'NightFall' have a good day," Max said as he was waving Wayne goodbye and returned to his post. The other guard just stared at him with a questioning expression. Max was well aware of his fellow guards' gaze but he stayed silent in hopes he wouldn't ask about it and let it be.
The guard didn't say anything and just chuckled to himself while looking at the back of Wayne.
"I guess the kid can fight," the guard mumbled to himself.
Wayne wasted no time and headed to the next post immediately, he called Zeak on his way there to inform him what happened and what ranking he was.
"Oh wow to think you would go from no powers to Class A! I'm so relieved that you're still alive with that thing inside you."
"It's all good actually, Helgor gave me a second chance at life and I plan on not wasting it," Wayne replied hearing his friend's concern.
"Alright, I should see you in the next day or two with the location you gave me," Zeak said before saying his goodbyes.
Wayne reached the other post in less than a couple of hours and he could spot the building right away for it exactly the same, down to the guards, the only difference was that these guards were wearing purple attire instead of blue. When Wayne was heading to the doors he didn't want a repeat of another arrogant guard so he just pulled his card out from a few meters away showing that he was definitely qualified.
The guards were shocked inwardly to see Class A on the card for such a young person but they kept a stern face as Wayne passed them into the building. Now that Wayne was inside he definitely saw a difference as this post was much busier than the previous one he was at. When he approached the desk in the lobby there were five females sitting at the desk and they all looked alike, Wayne thought it was weird, he figured it was either a power of hers or the slim chance they were all sisters.
"Hi, I'm Rue how may I help" The woman at the desk asked.
"Yeah I wanted to get assigned into the private sector" and as Wayne said that he pulled out his card.
Rue eyebrows raised when she saw the card on such a young man but she quickly recovered as she grabbed the phone dialing the director.
"Please hold the moment as the director will deal with you."
After a few moments, a shadow blanketed Wayne making him turn around as he can see a tall bald man with glasses wearing a turtle neck and pants.
"I'm guessing you're the director?"
"Yes I am, my name is Dr.Greeves," as he said that he extended his hand for a greeting.
"Please, follow me to my office" as he finished he turned around to head towards the left corridor and after a couple of turns we reached an office that was the size of a luxury hotel.
"Please have a seat," he said ushering Wayne a seat in front of his desk and then he continued while sitting on the edge of his desk.
"It's been a while since talent like you albeit so young came through here, we're backed up and need all the help we can get. Well for the jobs that we have, there's escort missions, bounties, and search and rescue and.."
"Bounties," Wayne said as he wanted more fighting experience so a legal way to fight is always a smart plan.
"I see we have an eager one," Greeves said and he open a drawer and pulled out a cartridge, he walked back to his desk and pushed the cartridge into his desk making a holographic image of a person image.
Wayne saw all the info on the guy underneath him and thought it was perfect as he can know exactly what he is getting into and won't be blindsided by anything. Greeves came around the desk and handed Wayne a remote.
"Here, scroll till you find who you like, but don't take too long. Like I said we're backed up."
Wayne grabbed the remote and started scrolling until he found a right fit, after a few seconds of scrolling Wayne stopped with wide eyes as he saw the bounty in front of him.
Greeves seeing this looked at the figure and looked back at Wayne.
"Do you know him?"
