Chapter 11 - Elements of Magic

One by one, Qin touched every single book there. Elador was forced to look away from his own studies to see what Qin was doing. It was quite peculiar.

Each time Qin touched a book, it felt as though the information was pouring into his brain. After touching all five books, Qin learned a vast amount about magic. Its basics, its foundations, and how it applied to the real world as well.

"I'm finished reading," Qin said to Elador who was still looking on with curiosity.

"You're what!? You finished reading five books with over a thousand pages each in a matter of 50 seconds!?" Elador had never seen nor heard of this before.

"Yes, I'm finished with these books," Qin said.

"If what your saying is true, then you may be an excellent disciple. For my sake, would you please form a soul contract with me on this topic, promising me that you have truly read all five books and understood all knowledge held within in a matter of seconds?" Elador said.

"Sure! Of course, I can." Qin said. From the books, he had already learned what a soul contract was. A soul contract was a temporary or permanent promise between two people. If one were to break the contract, their souls would be destroyed. Because of this, soul contracts could also be used to tell if someone is telling the truth or not.

"I swear that I have obtained all knowledge from these books in a short amount of time right in front of you, If I am lying my soul will be destroyed right at this moment!" Qin said confidently, holding his hand forward.

Elador shook Qin's hand as white light quickly started to emanate from their hands. The soul contract had been formed. "As you can see, I am not lying," Qin said to Elador, who was still shocked.

"Now, I need for you to make another soul contract with me," Qin said to Elador. If word came out that Qin had a strong spell that allowed him to read any book in mere seconds, it would surely only throw obstacles in his direction.

"Yes, what is it?" Elador said confused.

"I need you to form a soul contract with me saying that you will never speak about this to anyone else," Qin said.

Elador paused shortly. "Alright, I swear that word of this will never get out into the public, you have my word. If I am to ever break this promise, let my soul be destroyed." Elador said.

"I do not know your reasons behind this, or how you were even able to do this, but you are now my apprentice and I shall trust you," Elador said as he grabbed something from his bag.

"This was supposed to be given to you many weeks later, but because you have finished obtaining all the knowledge from the books already, I will give it to you now," Elador said as he pulled out a box from his bag and handed it to Qin.

"What is this?" Qin said as he opened the box.

Inside, there was a golden talisman. "What is this?" Qin asked.

"That is the Golden Phoenix Talisman. It will not only help you in performing spells but it can also be used as a last resort if you're ever in a dire situation. However, if it is ever used in that way, it will be destroyed, so use it efficiently." Elador said while smiling. Qin could tell that he had quite a gentle heart.

"Thank you!" Qin said. It was quite an amazing gift and it could definitely come in handy. Qin couldn't wait to test out his newfound knowledge.

"Let's go try it out!" Qin said as he quickly jumped up out of his seat, excited to try to perform his first-ever magic spell.

"Haha, Of course," Elador said.

At the training grounds, Qin learned how to perform basic magic spells from Eladar. He could now perform the fireball spell and the stone bullet spell. They were quite simple to learn after knowing the basics of magic.

All one had to do was concentrate heavily on the magic around them. Once your concentration is high enough, you can easily form a magic technique using the mana inside of your mana ocean and your creativity.

From what Qin had read, there were four basic elements of magic that one could conjure. Fire, water, air, and earth. However, most people were born with an affinity to a certain one, this would mean that you could only fully master one element, although the mastery of multiple ones was indeed possible.

Apart from the four basic elements, there was also a plethora of sub-elements. Sub elements were created when one successfully forms two or more elements to create a brand new one. There were hundreds of sub-elements that existed that included lighting, magma, dark, light, and many others.

Qin continued to train with nothing much else to do. He would perform his daily workout quest given to him by the system and meet up with his five siblings and Elador every couple of days to train as well. He was pretty much secluded from the rest of the world and was free to do what he chose. This would only be temporary of course, Qin one day wanted to go out and explore this vast world that he had now been reincarnated into. For now, he had to simply bear it and be patient until that day finally arrived.

And just like that, another four years had gone by. This time, however, Qin was in full control the entire time.

Qin was now almost ten years old. Many things were the same, but almost everyone could now see the difference in the six kids, especially Qin. They had all improved by leaps and bounds.

Qin still hadn't unlocked the second page of his magic cultivation technique but his control of magic had gotten much greater. He could now perform several spells at once.

This was quite rare even amongst prodigies. Many would have to be of at least a rank above mage to complete such a task. Qin had also learned that he had no magic affinity, or rather, he had them all. No matter what element it was, mastering how to control it was very simple and similar to the rest.

He had also mastered a sub-element. Plasma, or in other words, lighting. His spells had already gotten quite strong. The rumors of Qin being a failure of a child still lingered, but only those close to Qin knew that he was anything but! It was only up to Qin now to prove all those that doubted him wrong.

Even though he forced his newfound friends to train rigorously, they all could see that he was always training twice as hard. Not only did this make them respect Qin as a person, but it also gave them the motivation to keep going further. The six had now gotten quite close.

Qin arrived at his room after practicing with Elador and his half-siblings. He put down his sword on the bed and walked to the closet to change his clothes, while doing so, Qin noticed himself in the mirror next to the closet. For the first time in four years, Qin looked at himself in the mirror once again.

'Wow...' Qin thought to himself. Time had truly gone fast. Qin looked at every part of his body and observed how much it had changed. He was much taller now, reaching 4'6 ft. His body had become much leaner and his face had changed drastically. In this world, he would be considered quite handsome for a ten-year-old.

Although Qin had wanted to leave the castle on a journey these past four years, one single thought remained in his head. Magic Academy. Once one would turn ten, one would be admitted to a magic academy.

For Qin, however, it wasn't just any magic academy, but one of the most prosperous and mighty magic academies in all of the mortal plains, Pluxine Magic Academy! Thinking logically, the number of rewards and benefits Qin could obtain from a powerful magic academy was immense!

Qin would turn ten in a total of eight days.
