Chapter 17 - The Song Divine; The Start Of The Journey!

"Wha- What did you bastards do?" Qin said as blood started to seep out of his mouth in multiple dark red streams. Throughout all of his life, he had never felt pain so overwhelming. It felt like his skin was being peeled off and all of his organs felt like they were going to explode.

"Hahaha! Welcome to the forest of the death god! A popular forest around these parts that a kid like you would never know about!" The brute yelled. "No one has ever survived the poison of this forest! It's more toxic than anything else on the planet!" Another said.

"You- your all dead" Qin said as he fell to one of his knees.

"Hahaha! And who is going to kill us!? You?!" The guild members laughed.

On hearing this, a large and even more sinister smile appeared on Qin's bloody face, it was frightening to look at. 'Finally.' Qin thought to himself.

"Why the hell is he smiling!?" One of the guild members said. "It's clearly because these are his last moments... right?" Another said. All four of the Han guild members had a single thought at the back of their in unison. 'What if- what if the poison doesn't work on him?' They all thought.

"NO! No one has ever survived this forest! This bastard is only trying to scare us! There is nothing else that is reasonable than that! HE IS DEAD!" The brute finally screamed as he started to sweat profusely everywhere on his body.

Qin slowly stood up. "I do not fear death. I control it." He finally said, looking at the four in the eyes with the face of a demon. A red and bloody face that smiled big was something seen only in nightmares.

Cold shivers went down all of the spines of the four guild members as their hairs stood straight on their arms.

"Get out of the way!" One of the guild members finally said as the other stepped to the side. "What are you doing!?" The brute yelled. "Even if he's not dead, he is still weakened! We must kill him now!" A guild member said as he released a magic attack toward Qin.

A large beam of water shot toward Qin. All three other guild members quickly ran over and put their hands on the spell caster in order to boost the power of the water spell. Just then, Qin raised his hand in the sky.

"Lightning Strike!" On saying this, loud and thunderous white lighting erupted out of the skies. Qin was using almost all of the mana inside of his mana core due to his rage. His eyes started to crackle as they lit up and turned completely white. The hairs of all of the guild members stood up straight as the lighting rained down and struck the water beam in front of Qin. The bolt of lightning traveled through the water and shocked all of the Han guild members at the same time. All of them burned were to crisps in an instant and dropped to the floor.

Qin slowly walked over to the burned bodies of the guild members and raised his right hand in the sky once again. Multiple strikes of lightning rained down on top of the bodies of the guild members, at the end, there was nothing but dust left, even the ashes had been disintegrated.

Qin finally stopped his onslaught as his rage calmed down. Suddenly, the sound of a beautiful flute rhythm started to sound from all directions, it was extremely loud and triumphant. Qin quickly looked in all directions but couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from.

As the beautiful song continued to play, Qin's pain started to slowly ease as a warm and comfortable feeling encompassed his body. Qin noticed that his internal organs had started to heal almost instantly.

His he almost fully healed, Qin realized that he had heard the song before. When his magic cultivation book formed its first page, the same song was heard from all directions before as well. Qin quickly took out his magic cultivation book from his weak storage pouch and sure enough, it was glowing.

Upon opening the book, Qin could see a page forming out of thin air. As the page finished forming, the divine flute music also subsided. The page's title was:

The Song Divine.

This page was fully detailed with hundreds of words. Qin was ecstatic, after so many years, he had finally unlocked the cultivation technique! He wouldn't wait any longer, Qin decided to make his way back to the tent.

After arriving, Qin didn't care to change clothes, he needed to first read the page. Qin sat down for an entire hour and read the page over and over again multiple times. The amount of information was almost overwhelming. In usual circumstances, a magic cultivation technique would be held throughout an entire book, but this cultivation technique was all on a single page.

This left Qin to wonder if the first page was an entire cultivation technique, what would the rest of the pages hold!? However, there was no time to think about that, Qin wanted to quickly try out the cultivation technique.

Following the directions of the book, Qin sat down, crossed his legs, and closed his eyes. He maintained a form of complex concentration and breathed in and out in monitored intervals.

Qin could feel the mana all around him, his mana core was absorbing the mana at an alarmingly quick rate, it was far superior to his normal cultivation. In a matter of hours, Qin was already in the middle of the mage rank!

Qin continued to cultivate throughout their trip as they headed for the Pluxine Magic Academy the next day. Three days later, they finally arrived at the jurisdiction of Pluxine. It was in the middle of a large forest just like the village.

On arriving at the borders of the village, Qin could see that a large and translucent dome of magic surrounded the academy that looked more like a large city rather than an academy. Looking through the see-through glass-like forcefield, Qin could see houses and shops similar to those in any city.

The carriages stopped several meters away from the magic barrier and let all of the kids out in a vast open field in front of the entrance that held nothing but grass. The number of kids gathered at the entrance was alarmingly high, as Qin and the others waited, more and more carriages dropped off many more kids.

By the end, over ten thousand kids had arrived at the entrance. As expected, hierarchies were already being formed from the get-go. The nobles grouped together with each other and the peasants did the same.

After an entire hour passed, a man finally walked out of the translucent barrier as if it was nothing but air and presented himself in front of all of the kids. The man who came out had quite a large stature, being 6'4 ft. in height, and had a large robe on. He looked quite young, one could assume that he was only in his late twenties.

He quickly caught everyone's attention as people started to look in his direction. "Silence!" His loud voice echoed throughout the crowd of people as a wave of silence brushed over everyone.

The man then smiled as he put his hands behind his back. "Welcome to the entrance exams. Follow me." The man said with a smile on his face as he turned around and walked back into the barrier.

No one expected it to be like this, but they had no choice but to follow the man's directions. And so, people started to quickly follow behind the man. However, once getting to the barrier, the people in the front of the crowd failed to pass through. It was as if you were trying to pass through a thick brick wall.

"What the hell is this!? Is it broken or something?" A kid said in the crowd.

"Hey, why can't I get through?!" Another shouted.

A kid from the crowd finally spoke up. "Hey, mister! I think your force-field is broken! None of us can even get through!" The kid yelled at the man already on the other side of the barrier.

The man turned around and stopped walking. "So you cannot get through?" He said in a confused manner.

"What the hell are you talking about old man!? Of course, we can't get through, why do you think I'm-" The kid was cut off.

"Then you fail." He said in a low tone before continuing to walk.

"Wha- What the hell are you talking about!?!" The kid started to yell. Other kids were also furious at this statement. "What are you talking about!? We haven't even gotten a chance to prove ourselves in the entrance exams! How have we already failed! You bastards are just scamming us!" Another kid yelled.

"Haha! Idiots! They don't know that the entrance exams... have already begun!" A tall kid said as he put his hand on Qin's shoulder. "Isn't that right?" He said, looking into Qin's eyes with a smirk on his face.
