Chapter 16 - Magic!?

"Huh? Who are you brat?" The brutish Han guild member said to Qin. "What? Is this guy your father or something? What do you care what we do to him?" Another Han guild member said.

Qin walked right in front of the brute who was squatted down. "This man... he gave me food yesterday," Qin said. Finally, Qin raised his head and his eyes could be seen. Pure rage crossed his face as he threw a punch.

One fast punch to the brute's unprotected jaw and his head whipped back as he fell on his back. The punch stunned the brute as his ears started to ring. "You brat!" Another Han guild member yelled as he lounged towards Qin in order to grab him by the torso.

Qin released a swift kick that rocked the man's jaw, knocking him out instantly and causing his body to fall to the floor. A thump was heard as people started to move slightly farther away.

"My gosh! Who is this kid!?" People yelled in the crowd.

"Is he some sort of prodigy?"

"I don't care who he is, he saved Kang!"

The two guild members left were now fuming with anger, but they were now on guard. They were not going to let themselves be caught off guard like the other two.

"You may have been able to fight those two idiots, but we are not so dumb to try and fight you in close combat!" One of the two said as they both created some space between themselves and Qin.

After quickly dashing back a couple of feet, the both of them raised their hands in front of themselves in unison.

'What is this? An opponent who uses magic?' Qin thought to himself. 'Scan.' Qin said in his head. It was finally time to use his scan ability on his first-ever opponents who used magic.

Two windows quickly popped up in front of Qin.

Cultivation: High Mage.>

Cultivation: High Mage.>

'High mage huh? That means that they are higher cultivation than me since I am only at the lower mage level.' Qin thought to himself as the two released their attack in unison.

Two large and bright red and heavily flaming fireballs quickly flew towards Qin. The speed at which they flew was immense. 'I won't be able to dodge this.' Qin thought to himself. 'I'll have to nullify the attack with a stronger attack!' He thought as he raised his hand straight up in the air.

As the spheres of raging fire almost connected with Qin's face, a large bolt of blue lighting roared from the skies and struck both of the fireballs at the same time, instantly nullifying them to the ground. Crackling could still be heard coming from the charred ground where the lighting hit.

The guild members were utterly shocked. Their faces had become slightly pale as their eyes opened wide. "A- a sub-element?!?" One of them yelled in shock. From their reaction, Qin saw how impressive mastering a sub-element must have been.

"Kahaha! Of course, It's a sub-element, do you expect the one who will rule all to use a measly fireball!?" Qin laughed. "You peasants are far too inferior to me, come back when you have someone that is worthy of my sight!" Qin yelled as made his way over to the other guild members.

The brute had already gotten up and was also surprised at Qin's ability. "Now, all of you come here and give me all the money you have!" Qin yelled. At this moment, the guild member who was knocked out previously awoke.

"What? How dare you make demands you bra-" He sluggishly said before being interrupted by a chop to the back of the head by the brute, knocking him out all over again.

"Of course young master! We don't know who you are but you are surely a young prodigy from a large royal family!" The brute said, smiling largely. The three gave Qin about 15 gold coins, also taking the coins from the knocked-out guild member.

The guild members picked their unconscious companion up before making their way out of the village.

The brute's face could be seen fuming as he left. "I can't ever be humiliated like this! I am the great Jao Hay!" He said quietly to his other two members. "Well, what do you want to do? The kid is a god damn prodigy. We have no choice but to retreat." One of the others said.

"Retreat!? No... I will get my revenge." Anger crossed over the brute's bloodlust face. He was shaking with rage. "I have a bad feeling about this, how about we just leave. What could we possibly do to defeat him?" One of the guild members said.

A sinister and dark smile appeared on the brute's evil face. "The forest of the death god." He said before laughing maniacally.

----------

Qin decided to check up on Kang. He had given him food the day before, so Qin owed him one. He knelt down next to Kang to inspect his injuries. After a couple of seconds, he turned to the crowd. "Is anyone here a healer or has any healing potions?" Qin said to the crowd.

He then realized that the faces of the village people were also slightly pale. After a long moment of silence, a kid came out from the crowd of people. "Here you go, by the way, nice sub-element controlling," Hephas said to Qin, throwing a small green potion.

"Hephas! What are you doing here? Were you there the whole time?" Qin said slightly shocked as he grabbed the bottle.

"I decided to check on what kind of trouble you were going to get into next, and sure enough, you found yourself in a full-fledged fight with multiple guild members of your own kingdom. This could spell a lot of trouble, they will most likely target you from now on." Hephas said to Qin.

Qin looked at Hephas with no expression on his face for a couple of seconds. "Ah, whatever! I know how you are, you don't care about that crap anyway." Hephas finally said before leaving.

"Haha! Thanks for the help!" Qin said as Hephas disappeared into the crowd. Qin however knew that Hephas was probably still around.

Soon, Kang woke up. It wasn't the best of healing potions, but most of his wounds had been healed. "You, your Qin aren't you?" The man said as he sat up. "Yes, I am," Qin said.

Kang then looked around and remembered what was going on before he passed out. "Where are the Han guild members!?" He said in a hurry, looking around himself.

"It's fine, I dealt with him, you just get some rest now," Qin said as he passed Kang over to the villagers. Before leaving, Kang turned around. "Thank you for saving me. And I'm sorry for putting you through all this trouble." Kang said with his head hung low.

Qin had a large smile on his face. "No problem! You gave me food last night, after all, I owed you one!" Qin said. Kang finally smiled before being helped away by some villagers.

The rest of the villagers still stood there looking at Qin. "What are you doing? Get out of here already! I'm sure you have other things to do!" Qin finally said as the crowd started to quickly disperse.

"Now then, where were we? Ah yes, shopping." Qin said. After an hour or so, Qin had only bought a weak storage bag. In this world, storage items could hold more than what they looked like. Qin's was very small and was a weak storage bag but could still hold items in a one-by-one meter area. As he stored his items, he felt a tug on his shirt. 'Now what is it this time!?' Qin thought to himself as he turned around.

A small child who looked to be around the age of three was tugging on Qin's shirt. "What do you want kid?" Qin said.

"Come with me! I need help!" The kid yelled at Qin.

"What!? What are you talking about? Stop bothering me brat, I have things to do." Qin said.

"Kang! Help Kang!" The kid insisted.

"God damn it." Qin said as he started to follow the kid. 'Damn it, what have I gotten myself into.' Qin thought to himself as the kid led him farther and farther from the village and into the dense forest.

Even after entering the thick forest, they continued to run along for half an hour. 'What's up with this kid's stamina?' Qin thought.

Finally, they arrived at a part of the forest that looked like a crossway between two forests. The one they were currently in was green and luscious with lively plants and thick leaves in the trees, but the one on the other side looked dry and all the trees were naked of all leaves.

There was also a hint of a purplish color in the air on the other side. As Qin looked at the naked forest, he felt a sudden strong push on his back. Qin tumbled into the naked-looking forest and looked behind himself to see how pushed him.

What he saw shocked him. The small child was gone, and the brute from the Han guild from before was standing in his place. Right after, the three others also made their way out of the bushes and next to the brute.

"Hahaha! You're dead kid!" The brute yelled as he laughed maniacally. "This was a great plan! As expected from the great Jao hay!" One of the other guild members said.

Qin was quite confused by this. "Why have you weaklings come back? Do you have a serious death wish?" Qin said. Suddenly, he felt a strong tightening in his chest, it felt as though his lungs were compressing, the air around him was unbreathable.

He then started to feel immense and immeasurable pain all around his body and organs as his vision became bloody and blurry.
