After a while, the screams of Rukku had stopped. Now he was just sitting there on the floor doing nothing but listening to his own breathing.
"Player Notice, The Ruler Test will begin imminently. This test determines your creation token's rank as well as the places that you can choose to start in the vast world. Good luck."
As Rukku heard the system cold voice he suddenly yelled out, "Tell me about the bloodline!"
The system did not respond to his question at all. And instead remained mute as he slowly disappeared into nothingness.
The ancients who saw this seen only smiled. The oldest of them from before did not say anything. In fact, none of them said anything, all of them were watching their favourites. The old one though was focused on Rukku. This would become a blessing as well as a curse for him, though how he made use of this would determine his true worth to the old man.
For Rukku though not a moment had passed. Now he found himself sitting on a chair, or well a throne would be more accurate for him right now. In front of him was a small group of people. A few of them were clearly soldiers, the armour and uniform look to them, all giving off an imposing air. The others seemed to be more civilian-focused, wearing an assortment of different robes and clothes. The final man… Rukku could not place, he was just not one of the two groups.
Then as Rukku was looking at everything. From the wooden cabinets to the cavern stone walls. The leader of the military group suddenly yelled. "City Magistrate. Will you help us or not?"
Rukku looked to one of the official-looking people waiting for them to reply. One of them must be the magistrate, the throne definitely made Rukku feel like he was the king or something along those lines.
The room went silent for at least five minutes, leading to the growing anger of the general. "You….Dam you! The military will do as it wants, and you do what you want! I will defend this city from invasion. NOT YOU!" Yelling loudly as he left, his underlings soon followed behind him.
It was at this moment that Rukku realised and cursed at himself. He was the magistrate. Though from that conversation he had learned of a few important points. One of those was that the city was under attack, he also had heard from there arguing, that they would be reinforced if the city was able to hold on for another seven days… Though how he would survive without the military obeying him was a mystery.
Rukku cursed some more, realising he would definitely would not do well at all now.
"Magistrate, what do we do?" The sudden voice brought him out of his thoughts. Looking over at the owner of the voice he saw a man, who definitely had some wealth. The golden jewellery was definitely different from most of the others who wore a similar style of clothes to him.
"I…" Rukku suddenly found he did not know what to do at all. What was he meant to say? What could he say? How the hell was he meant to lead a city in resisting an invasion?
Well, he mused to himself, he could help the military and protect the innocent.
"We need to remove the citizens from the city. Though see if you can raise any kind of militia out of them to assist the army. That is our main goal. To defend and resist. If we have fewer mouths to feed, we will not have to worry about food at least." His words sounded decisive but inside he was screaming out for help. He had no idea at all on what he should actually be doing! Why had the system not given him any help or explained anything!
"As you wish." With that, a few officials left the room leaving only a few people behind. Including the one who had spoken to him earlier and the weird hooded man in the corner stayed too.
"Magistrate. What about my wealth and everything! You have to help me! I will make sure to reward you well too!" Rukku suddenly felt disgusted at this man. Just who was he in the first place to demand something like that from him!
Looking around Rukku found that there were not many people in the room and that he also did have a sabre resting on his throne. Maybe the weapon was there because of the bloodline trial? Or it could have just been some kind of coincidence.
Rukku slowly grasped the hilt a little, smiling at the feeling. There was just something he hated most after all. People like the merchant who wanted him to leave the weak. And also bribe him! Rukku was weak back home. Trodden on and left alone. This man…
Swoosh!
Everyone in the room looked on in shock. It all had happened in a flash.
"Do not mention anything like that ever again." In response to Rukku's words, the people left just nodded. Looking down Rukku watched as the head of that idiot rolled around for a few seconds.
It was at this moment that the hooded man walked forwards. "Magistrate, the magic academy will give you some guards to help but…."
DIng! Ding!
Suddenly a bell started to ring, worrying Rukku. A bell in a siege? Is that not always bad.
As if to confirm his suspicions a man burst into the room! We were betrayed! A soldier opened the gate and let the enemy in! They're coming here!
The man soon left, in fact, everyone aside from the robbed man all left the room in a panic.
Rukku slumped back into his chair crying slightly. He had really failed just by not responding? Is the game that cruel? Rukku feeling a little down suddenly stood back up.
"You said, guards?" The robbed man just nodded in reply.
"Use them to evacuate the civilians. I will hold off them as long as I can with whoever I can find." Then with that said Rukku just walked out of the door quickly with his sabre in hand, he had soon left the building. Only to see a fireball heading right for his face!
In terror, he slashed the ball into two, only for it to explode with a bang!
The explosion sent him flying back into the greeting room through the city hall, where he had just been moments before.
"HAHAHAHA! That is all the magistrate of the great fortress city can do? You are weak…" A mocking voice soon found its way into his bleeding ears, only making them bleed more with the blatant mockery.
The person who was speaking soon walked out of the crowd, Rukku stumbled back up watching him quietly. The man was just smiling, in his hands was a simple staff. Nothing fancy but he was a magic user, that was for sure.
"Now useless fool just die." His voice turned hard as he spoke, chilling Rukku down to the bone.
In front of the man, two red runes formed in the air and as they combined together they lit up brightly. Before he knew it another fireball was hurtling at him!
Rukku just frowned. This game was cruel.
Though he ducked under the attack and began to dart forwards, he would at least claim the life of this dam mage firs….
In his mad dash, he had not noticed the robbed man from before, appear next to him. The man in question had simply cast a spell on the ground.
It all happened in slow motion, the brown runes forming on the ground then spalt. The earthen spike had pierced his head in an instant.
"System Notice. Ruler test over. Rating D. The reason for this, is that you tried to save the innocent and did succeed a little. If not for that you would have failed and been given an E grade."
Hearing this Rukku laughed. Now he found himself once more above the sea. The childish system was in front of him smiling.
"You sure are funny! Getting an amazing bloodline and yet nearly failing in your ruler test. Now have this." She chucked over a bronze token, which Rukku grabbed easily. Looking down at it, it seemed rather plain.
"That is a common city creation token. In the world, just bury it in the ground and the basics will be done. Oh, what else is there…." The girl seemed to be in a good mood, making everything a little easier for Rukku who had just been killed….
"Oh, yea. Your bloodline! So the abyssal dragon huh. It's one of the strongest dragon clans and as such, they were given an important task from their maker. You have lesser dragons, who are mindless and just possess strength. Metal dragons are stronger and have intelligence. Elemental dragons who can use magic! Then the two higher dragons. Heavenly and Aybssal! You did great with that… The Imperial part is to do with the purity of the bloodline within you, which can not be increased at all. You have unknown..less than 30%, common which is up to 50%, noble up to 80%, royal up to 99% and imperial which is 100%. Though the bloodline will only give a power boost of the minimum percentage. Not that it matters to you!"
Then the sun began to set and the ocean started to get darker slowly. The little system looked at it and sighed.
"Our time is nearly up. You are not able to leave the game world until the first milestone is reached. As a ruler, that is the first person to upgrade to a town ranked settlement. Make sure to mark your token with your blood as well…It will help. Good luck!"
As he was disintegrating from that space. Rukku felt like the world was ending. He was stuck here. In this game world?
"What the hell?"
