Chapter 4 - Gaining His Bloodline

Just like it had before, the environment around Rukku changed once again. Now he was in a street. The street itself was rather old and run down. Reminding him a little of the old street that was where he lived. The cobbled roads look worn and dirty and the stone brick walls have cracks and the same dirt plastered onto them, seemingly having come from the road.

Though in front of him this time was a large mob. He could not count the exact number of people but they all looked angry, each one was holding a different weapon. Daggers, falchions, some even had kitchen knives! One of them even had a pitchfork!

Rukku laughed a little. "What is this test? A street brawl?"

From somewhere within the mob he suddenly heard someone yell, "Get him!"

The mob then charged forwards, Rukku though felt a lot calmer than he had compared to his previous fighting tests. He had, had some training now. Well, maybe the tests were set up to teach him some skills for this test?

Taking a normal fighting stance, he kept his blade pointing out at the mob. One foot slightly behind the other. This the old man had called it, the basic footwork of a bladesman. It seemed fighting was just about the feet like anything else.

The mob did not care though, their roars and yelling showing their ferocity as they all charged forwards.

Rukku slowly took a few deep breaths.

He had decided to fight here, mainly because he did not know what was on the other side of the street or what the environment would bring. His only choice was to just kill. Kill and kill and kill until there was none left.

Was he scared? Hell Yes! But this was still a game, after all, if he died here he would not die in reality. So there was really nothing to worry about at all.

As the first person came into range of his sabre, he then slashed down. Though something amazing happened to cause him to freeze. Though him freezing was not exactly under his control. Everyone had frozen.

Then, "System announcement. Round five cleared. The bloodline is now at an extremely high level."

"Player notice. Do you wish to continue or do you wish to stop?"

Rukku looked up thoughtfully for a moment. It seems this was maybe a test of courage instead of fighting power. That was certainly a surprise.

"I wish to stop here."

"System Notice. Player Rukku obtained a bloodline. Transferring him to the statue of the bloodline."

Suddenly everything went dark as the dim light returned to Rukku. Looking around, he found himself in a massive empty space. He could not see much, only darkness and a small patch of dim light, leading to a statue.

Well with nothing else to do, Rukku began to walk forwards, each and every step that he took. Something seemed to weigh down on him. It was like, someone was adding an extra pound to his body weight as he got closer and closer.

Then as he crossed a certain point, the weight suddenly shot up. Causing his face to start to sweat, the droplets were seemingly unaffected by the weight as they dropped to the floor, causing a steady tapping noise to appear and echo around the vast space that he had found himself within.

"What the hell is this…. Some kind of test again?" Feeling like everything was out against him today, Rukku slowly took a step forwards again. The weight still gradually increasing once more.

Then it shot up again, bringing him to his knees!

"Goddamit. Just what is this!" No one could hear him, but Rukku just needed to vent. A vast number of curses soon filed their way out of his mouth into the dark space. Then he slowly got back to his feet once again.

Each step forwards felt like it was agony. Though he still was happily getting closer, then boom!

The oppressive weight forced him down onto his chest as he had seemingly completed another milestone. At a rough guess, Rukku thought he must have walked around 80% of the length that was left. The statue he could clearly see how to. It was a dragon!

Rukku could not be happier now, he had gotten lucky for once! He had the chance to get a dragon bloodline! Assuming the statue of the dragon showed the bloodline that he was getting, that was.

Though he thought laying there on the ground, what if… what if he wouldn't get the bloodline if he didn't reach the statue?

As he was thinking that, all of the past memories flooded into his mind. All of the suffering and even the occasional good memory too. Then the face of his brother once more filled his head. The memory of his back as he slowly walked off.

Rukku could not help but clench his fist tightly.

Then with a sudden burst of strength, he leapt to his feet and darted forwards. The pressure and weight become nearly overbearing. Though as he leapt forwards and his fingers touched the statue all of the weight disappeared.

Sighing happily internally, Rukku looked up only to fight the black eyes of the statue looking down at him. Then black energy shot out of the maw of the statue and rushed into his chest.

This was only followed by a sudden burst of extreme pain.

While he was screaming and moaning out, blood and other bodily substances pouring out of his every orifice, so much so that he could have sworn that this game should have had gore and other such warnings added to it, before he had started to play.

He faintly heard the words.

"Player Notice. Bloodline Of The Aybssal Dragon Clan has been achieved. Bloodline Rank, Imperial."

Though he did not hear the childish words that came after…

"Long live the new Aybssal Emperor. Long Live The Imperial heir. Long live the one true lord…. I will be waiting to see what you do…Rukku."
