Down in the village, it's the same each day Kane decides to walk through the streets.
The men, women, and children whisper and call him names. Even if they were true he hated himself for being what he was. He was a beast who couldn't control himself at night. A beast who had a hunger for flesh and blood.
He can't stand himself it was like he had a curse that could never be broken.
Kane walked into his favorite shop the book store. Each day he would come and relax by reading a book but his favorite part was when he would have visions from lady Abigail. Some would make him smile some would make him laugh.
This vision made him laugh he was hiding at a distance only that he could see then a wolf howled and spooked her horse. He quickly got back on his horse and chased after her.
She must have forgotten what he had taught her since she was pulling back and not to the side.
Then before she hit the ground he had caught her around the waist and pulled her up onto his horse.
"Poor Abigail?" She wasn't the best at being out in the real world even in her dreams. She'll need a lot to learn before that ever happens. Kane chuckled from his thoughts.
"Is that a lover?"
Kane quit laughing and turned his attention to the man that sat behind the desk who was now up close to him.
"What is that supposed to mean?" He asked the man.
"You said, Abigail... Is that a lover of yours?"
Did he say her name out loud for anyone to hear? He had to of that man is only an average human he couldn't have read his mind?
"No how could a man like me possibly fall in love when every woman hates me?" He glared up at the man.
He only wanted to scare him off since he has never been a people person. But by looking at the man's face he was taken aback by his answer and didn't say another word.
"Staring is rude you know?"
The man shot his eyes open in realization and took a step back. "I'm very sorry I'll leave you alone now!" And quickly made his way back to his desk.
While Kane was silently reading his book a sudden commotion appeared outside. He rolled his eyes and looked up from his book at the woman who hurried to the desk.
"His majesty and the six lords are here passing by!" The woman shouted with joy then the woman and the man behind the desk hurried outside.
"Ah, king Eliot Abigail's father whom everyone praises." He said to himself and stood up from his seat placed his book down and walked out of the book shop then leaned against the deck post.
Everyone shouted your majesty's name with pour happiness. Kane couldn't deny that the king wasn't any bad king since he only knew that he loved his kingdom and his daughters very much. He also knew that the king was only keeping Abigail in the castle to never come out was because of someone... Something like himself.
Kane also couldn't hide the fact that he knew Abigail liked him in a way he couldn't. That is why he's never dared to speak in her dreams he had to keep everything about himself out of her dreams because he was afraid to frighten her.
"You back there!" The king spoke.
Kane looked up to see that the king was looking at him. He pointed to himself confused.
"You haven't seen any beast around here lately have you, young man?" The king asked him.
"I am a beast your majesty?" He replied with a smile that crept to his lips.
His words caused men and women to look back at him with surprised expressions and the king in laughter. The lords looked at one another as if not knowing what to do.
"Don't think of disturbing my people now?" The king joked.
He wouldn't dare touch a human they disgusted him just the smell of their blood was the same as it tasted. It's bitter it's nothing compared to a rabbit or swine's blood. But only if the king knew he wasn't lying to him not, even the slightest. He was what he hated himself as, more than the people who lived in the village.
Everyone hated him and he was reminded by their hateful words each day except for one woman who hadn't seen him in person only in her dreams that she believed he didn't exist.
The king said his goodbyes to his people and that he and the lords will return in a few days with good news. Everyone was excited for their return already they were eager to know what the good news was while Kane sat back and could care less about what it is.
Kane made his way back to his cottage that he had built himself in the middle of a field. With no one around it was peaceful it was just him and his horse with birds that sang in the trees.
He had to quickly prepare for what was to come when it hit midnight. He was unable to control himself in his beast form there was nothing to stop him then. He's tried many chains but he was too strong and broke out of them.
Kane tied his horse to the hitching post then picked up a bucket and went to the river to get water for him and his horse.
As he climbed up the hill the sound of running water filled his ears though he still had to climb a bigger hill to get to it it didn't stop him from getting to the very top.
He dipped his bucket into the river then placed it to the side on the stone and dipped his hands in the water and drank.
Kane suddenly heard a sound on the other side of the river. He stopped what he was doing and quietly listened but the sound of the river still filled his ears making it difficult to make out what made the sounds.
So he decided to used his eyes instead. He stood up and scanned the area slowly and carefully.
Kane didn't expect it to be two knights wandering around in the evening especially when there was a beast that roamed at night. He quickly grabbed his bucket of water and hurried down the hill he couldn't risk getting caught since he would be questioned for why he was out all by himself.
He couldn't tell them that he lived out there since he was hiding from everyone keeping his distance from those hideous creatures that lived in the village.
When he finally returned he poured the water into the watering trough.
"There you go girl," He patted the neck of the horse as she drank.
He wouldn't know what he'd do without his horse. Ever since he had found her as a young filly in the forest alone he had taken care of her and now she is a grown five-year-old mare who has been by his side almost everywhere he went.
The feeling at his finger, tips began to painfully itch he took a step back from his horse staring at his hands. The beast who lived inside of him was trying to escape and take control over, his body.
The horse had its ears alert and eyes big as diamonds. Kane quickly untied the lead around the hitching post letting his horse free once again. His breath was becoming heavier as the beast scratched from inside trying to escape. The horse rose on its hind legs with a loud neigh.
Kane fell to the ground on his knees holding his chest his eyes flashing like lightning.
"Go! Get out of here!" He growled and the horse rose and galloped through the field.
Kane's nails enlarged into dark sharp claws his body grew with black shaggy fur causing his clothes to rip his canines grew large over his lips. This was what he truly was a dark beast with no self-control that everyone feared.
He roared and ran into the forest searching for his nightly feast. His eyes and ears worked better than in the human form, he could see and hear for miles through the thick tall forest. There was a sound to his left that caught his attention he jumped onto a tree and waited for his meal.
The deer stood ten feet beneath where he waited then he lunged off of the tree and attacked with a growl then bit into the dear's neck ripping off its flesh.
His next target was a pig in the village he jumped over the fence onto the pig barn and dug his sharp claws into the roof and snapped the wood in half making a big hole in the ceiling and jumped down causing the pigs to squeal and huddle in a couple of corners.
Saliva dripped down his mouth as he growled walking up to a stray pig in a corner.
The pig squealed loudly as he quickly and tightly grabbed its leg and has a feast.
The next thing he knew he was laying in his bed with nothing on while his body ached from last night. Kane sat up with a groan and changed into clothes he needed to go find his horse before someone else finds her first.
Slipping into a pair of boots he walked out the door and followed the knocked-down grass that she had made last night.
Only if he had given her a name it would be a lot easier to find her each time but he didn't know how to name a horse or any other creature. What would even be a great name for a horse? He thought to himself.
He continued to walk the path until he came to the end of the field and the forest began. When he was about to enter the forest he started to have the vision from Abigail's dream. But the odd thing about this dream of Abigail's it caused him to both smile and frown.
He was holding her hand walking them to a pond for a picnic that he had prepared for them both. Abigail smiled sweetly as she trailed behind him. When he looked back to see her he exchanged a smile then had her sit down on the blanket that was placed on the ground party in the shade.
They stared into each other eyes for what felt like a whole five minutes. That was until Abigail seemed to get nervous she broke eye contact by looking down at the many desserts that lay to the side. She opened a container and a gasp left her lips from the sight of the pudding cakes that were, inside.
She licked her lips and picked one up and brought it between them and took a bite. He smiled at her messy face and picked up a napkin then leaned forward and gently wiped her mouth.
Then what he had never dreamed of doing the unexpected he quickly whipped the vision from his mind before he saw much more.
His heart rapidly beat against his chest and his face felt feverish.
How could he possibly kiss a woman in a dream or even dare to in reality? he could never love It was impossible he was a beast who could kill anything... Anyone that was in the same room as him just as he did to his parents.
"Ugh, you stupid beast how could you do such a thing!" He smacked his palm against his forehead repeatedly until he felt dizzy.
And then he continued to search for his horse who was still hopefully walking free and not caught by some filthy humans.
He spotted hoof prints at a distance and in just less than a second he was knelt down right beside it. "Fresh? She gots to be around here somewhere?" He said to himself then stood up straight and listened to any sort of sound that belonged to a horse.
