Chapter 22 – Footsteps above the Sky
Darren saw people flocking to the tower, sending strength running and approaching his father in one swoop. He had left his friends behind. Every footstep took him a hundred kilometers, so it only took two stomps of the foot, and he was already standing next to him.
"Father..." he said, his words cut short when he saw his comrades were already beside the man he was talking to.
"How extraordinary are the descendants of Mana Controlling," said Dareen in his heart while smiling, seeing them there.
Before anyone could ask what they could do, Duke Leon had placed each mana ring, the same ones used last night. The youths understand but prefer to remain silent and wait for orders.
"Take this and then remove the ring from the finger to open the portal; they will connect directly to the evacuation site. Surely your fathers have opened it somewhere safe," he said, encouraging his son.
"Use this to save people far from the evacuation site."
The hustle and bustle of nobles were running out of the hotel into the tower; it didn't look like the clothes they were still wearing were polite or not. Even many women barged in, only wearing nightgowns to save their lives.
The maids helped tidy up the people about to enter and line up. They supported children who fell on the ground and reunited with their parents.
"Vain…Vain…!" cried a young woman at the door miserably.
"Madam, hurry in, or you won't find a place to hide." One of the maidservants, Reprimand, held her by the arm and restrained her from running out again.
"I'm not leaving until..." her screams stopped at a familiar voice.
A Moore knight carried "Mother…" the little girl still wearing her pajamas.
Duke Leon expanded the towers a thousand times to fit into the residence. Now that several knights have arrived, they also look panicked and wondering.
"How are things outside?" Duke Leon asked the bald squad leader; he was the only one who didn't wear a face-covering because he didn't want to or for another reason.
Dareen, reunited nearby, gave him a sharp look in return with a mocking smile.
"Everyone is walking here for cover," he replied. Listening to the news that is quite reassuring now, the man who wears paladin clothes every day turned his gaze to the teenagers there.
" Jase and Dareen, go to the palace in the basement section; many people are living in the city and need to be rescued." Duke Leon ordered, trying to calm his son.
"What about dad?" Darren asked as naturally as he could.
Duke Leon stared intently into his eyes. The other Mana control candidates had already shot off at his signal, leaving traces of light from their footsteps. Seeing that confirmation Dareen and Jase also went to see the Saintess and the people who had been waiting.
Looking up at the sky saw the dome of the magic circle disappearing, "What causes all this?" he asked himself.
The palace looked deserted and desolate. Those who had just arrived were relieved that the capital had gathered first, although still being trapped in the large palace building would be stifling, considering there were so many people nearby.
The relief Dareen and Jase had just felt suddenly vanished; hearing a loud rumbling sound from above the sky, the magic dome's power began dissipating, spurring them to rush to the dungeons.
The people behind the Saintess jostled one another, waiting for her signal. King Benedict and the guards are restless.
"Is this the reason everything happened?" King Benedict asked one of his trusted men.
The royal soldiers tried to protect their King from the friction that started trying to crawl in there.
"Forgive us, King Benedict; it seems so." The Saintess replied, looking around.
Darren and Jase couldn't see any way for them to get in.
"Saintess, they are already in the palace," said Duke Leon, immediately confirming his son.
He informed him when he was trying to rebuild the magic dome after a loud noise worsened.
Their children tried to go inside to save King Benedict and his family first but in vain. Forced to release the two rings used simultaneously, an enormous portal appeared.
"Hey! Let's get in there right away to get to a safer place. It can't be made into a temporary place there now!" shouted Dareen, those who saw that he was a descendant of an outsider hesitated to hear his words even though they had heard directions. The look of fear that couldn't be concealed fused besides the first time people saw the portal.
"Everyone slowly enters; this portal will connect with the Moore residence. We will evacuate you there." Dareen said, shouting louder for reassurance.
Even though they didn't seem to believe what he said, they also didn't want to be stuck in an unsafe place because there was no rate of marching forward. After assuring them that everything would be okay, the people closest to him moved and passed through the white vortex. The longer the crowd moved, the crush loosened.
Those in the back with the Saintess were astonished by the growing crowd. The people had gathered close to march into the tower by seeing the vast expanse of grass-like what he said.
On the other hand, Van, Ronan, and Hale were in their father's territory, riding horses and leading troops to pick up people far from their respective territories.
Become a pave access to the hiding place. Ronan, who lived in the icy rock, was turned by his father into a comprehensive and warm place so they wouldn't be cold.
Hale also led the knights carrying all the children and older people who could not walk to be taken or put in their family carriages.
Van riding a dragon, monitored the un visible houses on the ground and ordered his entire army as they dispersed.
[Klataak…klatak] did not escape the people who felt their gaze directed to the sky.
"Shit!" Duke Leon's attempts to repair it were fruitless; the magic glass was back in sight.
PRAANGG!!
The smoke instantly shattered the magic dome; this time, a very clear roar was heard; the King and his family, who had just arrived through the portal, also looked up at the sky.
[Gggraaaaauuughhhhh….Kwaaaaak]
Everyone saw the scene, like foam in the water of a magic dome bursting, and the lump burst free through the rubble, scattering past it in the silhouette of a blood-eyed dragon.
[Kyaa]
Shouts of fright looked at the sky; many people were still scrambling to enter.
"Unlucky!" Duke Stuart rebuked.
The shadow dragon flapped its enormous wings, appearing as numerous monsters as reptiles and amphibians, with black and red stripes on their bodies.
They were trying to rush into Rhodes. Van there ordered his mount to shoot out, attacking the fire. The giant insects screamed when their bodies hit the orange flames they released; some tried to escape.
Duke Leon built a small shield as tall as Moore's tower to give everyone hide quickly. The Mana Sealers pierced through the magic shield, exterminating the monsters, not much different from the children following their footsteps upstairs to help.
A father and son pair constructs magic for the people who go to war to have a foothold in the sky; beneath their feet is a magic circle shrouded in shining spells of the same color as they are cast.
Duke Leon was amazed by his son's responsiveness to creating magic circles for his friends.
Duke Stuart activated his Mana sword and shield that protected him, dashing forward and swiftly slashing at all the creatures in front of him. The charismatic sword swing didn't forget to coat it with that terrifying power. When one of the fanged creatures tried to bite, it bounced so hard. that it became an easy target for the burly man to finish him immediately. The slash made several monsters attack back at him.
The Mana Controller, who had the power to produce weapons, also didn't stand still, twisting his right hand and creating his new weapon. The Pair of Flintlock rifles were busy shooting the monsters with silver bullets filled with Mana powder. Every bullet hit the monster's body, and it would be instantly crushed.
Duke Erica was no less fast than his two comrades, snapping his fingers, then a flat Mana stone-like shard of glass would appear, throwing it at the target, and melting itself.
