Chapter 28 – Unicorn?

Duke Leon was focused on preparing materials to explain at the next meeting. His mind couldn't focus every time he recalled the conversation between them last night, especially the last option when his son concluded moving Rhodes to another place.

The old man still didn't understand what he meant. Did he move physically, or was it just a figure of speech?

Duke Leon could only sigh and leaned back against the chair.

Looking at the roof ceiling, spiders were making their nests between the gaps in the top, imagining what would happen if his words happened.

"How can you have such thoughts, my son?" asked Duke Leon in a choked voice.

Darren was getting ready to leave his room again, feeling empty every time he looked at the room. Mary's shadow was always there. Somehow, he had to get used to this world. Head to the library to get some materials out of the residence.

He had already obtained permission, not finding the usual frenzy he encountered while riding the new horse his father had given him.

"Father, I need more information about Rhodes," he said when they were outside.

"Even though this represents everything I need, it's just that I have to make sure at the residences of the other Mana Controllers," Darren added again in a severe tone.

"What do you want to do?" asked Duke Leon, looking back.

"Allow me to look for other information outside the Mansion," he replied.

Duke Leon saw the earnestness in those blue eyes, unable to dodge and let him go because if it was related to the kingdom or the people of Rhodes, they had to find any way to protect them.

"Okay."

Darren was taken aback by her response even though he wouldn't allow her to stay out despite repeatedly enduring the shame.

"You're an adult, and of course, you're the next successor to magical Mana Control," he answered again, hopefully.

"Oh yeah, I forgot to give a gift at the ceremony yesterday," with a blush on his face.

Darren found his father showing that kind of amused expression on his face.

"Thank you very much, father," he kept his face from getting carried away with emotion.

After returning to the Mansion, Darren felt tired and wanted to rest. He put the bag on the study table and looked at the window. A horse was eating grass in the field, tied tightly from a distance.

"Isn't it too much to tie a horse with a ship's chain?" while looking at him.

The sun's scorching rays forced everyone to squint and put their hands on their heads. The young man was ready to jump from a very high window. For ordinary humans, it is pretty terrifying to jump at 100 meters.

Hearing feet stomping the ground, the horse stopped chewing the grass and raised his head quickly and alert.

Darren stepped forward confidently.

Their eyes looked at each other, and he prepared to attack him. The man felt sorry for seeing the state of being chained, then quickened his footsteps.

After they were only a meter apart, the horse was purplish-pink with a long mane on its back and a horn on its head.

He responds to Darren to stay away from him because he feels threatened.

"Poor creature."

"You're just an ordinary horse, but you look like a pony in my world," said Darren as he spread his arms.

"But over there, your form is a fiction, well... it's not just you, everyone here is like being in a fairy tale."

"With dragons, magic, and monsters… hufth…" he sighed and crossed his arms.

They watched each other for a long time. The teenager took a step closer and just lifted his leg. The horse already covered his body in magic Mana.

He was silent for a moment, feeling that what he had come to know was quite a dangerous being, as there was no way for an active magic shield to protect him.

There was doubt in his mind.

"After all, I've met death several times." He said and immediately walked towards the horse without hesitation.

Darren brought a hand to his front and wanted to caress it through. His alertness still hadn't gone away.

When the protective Mana touched the animal's skin in front, the smoke from its body gushed upwards and strung an inscription. He prepared to attack.

PUFFS!

(Hope You Like Your Gift)

The man thought the beast or the smoke coming out would attack him just like yesterday. However, what a surprise when he saw the pink writing in front of him.

"Hah! Don't tell me this is my gift of maturity that she said earlier?"

Embarrassed by his father's welcome and gifts, he walked away. Seeing the horse's legs are still tied, the feeling of compassion can't just be dammed. Darren knelt at his immediately calm reaction. The smoke was a lock to raise awareness of others before the original owner approached him.

Slowly removing the shackles with a single touch, then crumbling into dust and flying by the wind.

"I could have received you as a gift, but..." he stopped and looked at the burly animal giving Darren an adorable look.

I don't like the color and the horns he has.

"What if a man rode a horse of this color?" he said, suddenly feeling dizzy.

He left from there after helping untie the chain, and the horse always followed him wherever he went from behind.

Unable to dodge or dodge, the young man finally gave up and immediately stopped his footsteps.

Once again, Darren sighed and turned around.

"Okay, now how about we cover your appearance first to look like a normal horse." he started stroking the horse's head.

They both walked to the magic tower and arrived there, then Darren told him to wait outside. He entered the first floor, and the magicians were busy and stopped noticing his presence.

All eyes were fixed since entering the people's gazes did not leave, filled with their curiosity about what he would do.

He was busy concocting herbs, dried leaves, and preserved animals, boiling a lizard with rhino horns, peeling the flesh to dry, and then pounding it. The dried leaves that look like perilla leaves are burned and then given dry powder from the strange animal, turning the red flames blue.

Extracting it into oil and finishing touches, Darren makes a capsule from these ingredients.

It was the first time they had seen a small lump made of seaweed gelatin, and it looked simpler. Darren came out to meet the horse sleeping on the ground and crouched in front of him.

"Now eat," handing him a small blue and white object. The horse chewed, changing shape like any other mount after the medicine released white Mana.

"I mixed this with my Mana, so we're connected," Darren caressed, who was still sitting on the grass.
