Chapter 27 – Rhodes Moves
Everyone seemed to come out of the meeting using the teleportation door. Darren met them at the door. His father had just closed the portal.
The higher-ups looked up at him and saw King Benedict walking in their midst as if protecting him from harm.
The traversed path connected to the dungeon looked majestic, like the passageways inlaid with gold and precious stones.
The hot sun shone inside.
"Why has everyone left?" Darren asked, looking disappointed.
"I want to tell you something," he said again in front of his father.
He gripped the rope tightly across his chest, holding back his emotions.
"Patience Darren, we have found a light on this matter," said Duke Leon while trying to calm his son.
The middle-aged man looked at Darren, hoping he would accept his proposal by holding one of his shoulders.
Seeing his son still grumbling, he tried to divert their conversation.
"There's actually something I want to show you now."
"Come with me and see as soon as we get there," repeated Duke Leon. Darren couldn't help it and could only reply, "Okay."
They walked into the basement, greeted by a hallway and stairs. Faced with the magic chain dividing the line to open, they had to use Mana. Although it looks safe to see the object that crosses the X-shaped in their hearts, they still feel doubt and fear.
So the people decided to also put magicians skilled in dark magic and a few commanders of soldiers belonging to Mana Control to monitor and guard the palace.
"I've got the access permit for you to enter here," Duke Leon said as he opened the barrier.
"Unless other controlling successors are prohibited from entering," he added again.
Darren did not respond to his father's words. He felt he was getting special treatment and was busy watching where he passed. There was nothing strange there. Not even the slightest clue was found by him. When Darren fingered the wall and entered, he felt a peculiar flow of black-colored Mana similar to the dragon smoke they had just subjugated.
He continued to hold on to the large wall beside the opium that made him unable to pull there. Because of this, Darren immediately goes.
"Father, do you feel anything else against this wall?" Darren asked his father, who was walking ahead.
"Right, I've also confirmed it," replied Duke Leon also took the leg chain used to hold captives.
His face was severe, "Strangely, the other Mana controllers couldn't sense the Black Mana." Connect again.
"You seem to know something, my son," said Duke Leon as he turned his gaze towards Darren.
He was a little hesitant to say it however, with the interests of other people's lives, anyone can't just sit idly by.
"I found other facts besides what you guys talked about there," he took several books and papers from his bag.
His father invited him to sit in a chair in one of the dungeons. The scribbled papers made him unable to refute every time the young man explained.
"Are you really sure what you're saying?" asked Duke Leon while looking at his son worriedly.
His face showed he couldn't believe his every word because it was impossible. He just shook his head a few times to reassure himself.
"Although we don't know what caused the incident, at least we must also find other causes," Darren answered confidently.
"So that we can also get other solutions if something bad happens to us later,"
"Well, even though I don't want that to not really happen, I'm only worried about the lives and safety of the residents."
Duke Leon looked at the written notebooks and found writings about the former traveling troupe of King Raul, even though he had researched their history so far.
'Where did you get this much information from?'
'Whereas you haven't been seen once out of the mansion since my punishment.'
Darren is not the child he used to be. He deals with strangers and seems to hang out with his other daughters.
Apart from that, his intuition is sharp and careful in looking at things that happen, even though Duke Leon or the other Mana controllers haven't found a way out. Darren stared at him, waiting for the response given to him there.
The first prison room that the former Founders built was this place and has been a living witness for nearly 50 years since the kingdom of Rhodes was founded. Quite a short amount of time. However, every time someone was confined to undergo an examination or be put on trial would immediately die a strange death.
Not until 24 hours will they issue black marks on every vein, especially on the neck. The predecessors only thought people committed suicide by drinking a unique poison traded in Rhodes.
Then the incision scar using a sharp object does not leave a trace of blood flowing out. A strange death causes them to rebuild another prison, far from where it used to be.
Darren looked back at his father's figure, who hadn't changed, and was still looking at his notes, matching them with the history book he had teleported from the magic tower library.
A small portal like a whirlwind since a pile of books has been beside his father's seat.
"If this really happened, how would you deal with this?" asked Duke Leon, directing his gaze to the teenager who had already appeared to be an adult.
"You said there was a way out if this really happened,"
Darren stopped his observations as if frozen to prepare suitable words to express.
"So, what should we do?" asked Duke Leon again in a severe tone.
"First, gather everyone, including the successors, because we also need advice from them," Darren answered sharply.
"Okay, but the King can't be present for the meeting later due to conditions."
Duke Leon felt their conversation was over and immediately flew the books back into the portal, pulling back using the ceiling chain.
"Help me also explain this to the other Mana Controls," Darren said, holding back a feeling of sadness and a muffled voice.
Seeing his son like Duke Leon could only nod his head in agreement.
"What if there is no other way to prevent this…." Darren's voice cut off, and Duke Leon immediately refuted his words.
"Don't worry, my son. Everyone in this empire is a brilliant, strong, and talented generation. Even you know how they react to our strength." trying to cheer him up so he wouldn't be depressed.
Only a smile appeared on Darren's face.
"If something terrible was going to happen, what are the chances of it happening?" asked Duke Leon curiously.
The young man did not immediately answer his father's question, he was afraid of making wrong predictions and missing, but it would not hurt if his father knew in advance so he could be prepared.
"We have to move the Rhodes empire to another place," Darren answered in a hesitant, low voice.
The books that entered the portal suddenly stopped coming in...
