Chapter 24 – Unexpected Attack

Van walked through the area, the smell of fresh blood tickling his nose. He moved the body lying on top of the meadow.

"Heh, a maidservant." He said, washing his face covered in sweat. Lifting his head, he saw his best friend walking around above.

The shelter had been locked, magic supporting the people inside to keep breathing. Even though there was provided drinking and eating, worryingly, they didn't have time to think about such things.

The sight disturbed Dareen, angry and furious to see a monster through the barrier; his teeth chattered. There was no time for him to be a minor; they had to immediately paralyze the leading cause of the disaster.

Duke Stuart approached his comrade and was dying to stay awake when Duke Leon dropped; they were in danger; all magic would be useless. They would all die at that moment.

"Leon, stay awake!" he shouted, fending off the attacks. His face was so excited that the nerves in his head bulged out.

"I'm still awake, Stuart! Don't look at me like I'm dead." He sounded hoarse; the sweat dripping down his body and the wound on his right abdomen made it challenging to move. Luckily the claws that hit the body do not contain harmful toxins. The creature there squirmed after all of its legs were cut off.

Duke Leon aimed his hand to shoot a fireball, crushing the scaly bugs to ashes; the charred and fishy smell felt average from the start of the fight.

His Mana Shield was given to give him some rest while Duke Stuart was busy slashing at the monstrous bodies and keeping them away from him.

Van's dragon returned upstairs to help Jase hold them off.

"Can you make a whip for the Saintess?" Dareen asked, looking at Duke Erica expectantly.

The magenta-blue-haired man nodded in agreement with his request, though he still didn't understand what Dareen was up to. Their attempt to destroy the dragon did not go well. Many things have been done to stop it, at least blocking access to the exit of the monsters from behind the big animal's back.

Darren expanded his wiggle room to advance without slowing his approach to his father, fending off a scorpion that nearly stuck a stinger above his head.

The tail looks like a fishing hook emits a purple liquid dripping heavily, almost endangering his life; splashes of blood from the base make him wince.

"Father, are you all right?" asked Dareen, who had just sat next to him and was almost slumped over. His hands tried to support the cold body while still shooting fire.

"Hold on… look!" while pointing the finger at the magic shield that looked almost faded.

Duke Leon lifted his dizzy head, looked at the place in question, then turned his face towards his son with all his might.

'You look a lot like your mother.'

"How did you master shooter magic? Plus, you can use both hands."

"I don't know; someone is leading me to do it."

Listening to his son's answer, he couldn't help but smile, perhaps to hide the pain in his body. Darren saw his father's behavior and didn't respond; all he knew was that maybe some of his strength had faded a little after giving him a small ball. His face looks so tired, and he doesn't want to show concern. He fell several times, holding back the stability of the magic shield and footing.

The light flicked; Darren let his father sit alone, creating a shield for them. Standing at the front, trying to control Duke, Stuart's guard was spinning rapidly to ward off incoming monsters. From the pocket, take a knife that is usually used.

Again injuring himself while chanting, magic pentagrams appeared beneath his feet. They circled slowly. Strong winds seemed along with five levels of light, replaced by walls on each side.

His helplessness made Duke Leon slightly wake up. Dareen turned around and put her hands in front of her father. A magic circle appeared. Dareen let out small blue particles that flew close to her body and covered the wound. Slowly absorbed in, watching the tiny particles, he smiled, reminiscent of the same color as the god's pet.

Even though he was annoying, Darren was grateful to Pino for helping him meet the Saintess.

'Where are you now, O Great God's Pet,' he said.

After expending energy to quickly channel Duke Leon back to his feet, the protective magic looked strong.

Van was watching from afar, intended to rejoin his comrades through Mana's glossy and wavy layer.

Darren saw the changes in his father were getting better, stopped the healing magic, and pulled back again.

"There are many things you must explain to me later," said Duke Leon, patting him on the shoulder.

His father must have sensed that he was hiding something.

"What should I do?" he asked again, walking over to the dragon's hole.

"The Saintess will tie the dragon's neck," he replied.

"Be prepared to close the hole where the monsters appear later, and the rest will slash their bodies." He continued to explain without missing a beat.

"Did you hear what my son said?" said Duke Leon loudly; Darren didn't know that all this time, the conversation with his father would be overheard by those who were busy fighting. After realizing that, they had been communicating through his magic a while ago.

As long as this whole thing was over quickly, it didn't matter to him.

'How is he so sure that his plan will work?' Duke Stuart asked himself. Looked at Dareen.

The look in his eyes filled with confidence made everyone hesitate a little; he stood confidently and strode forward to help.

The whip rope that has been prepared, very shining, made of hard stone, and feels light when held, makes the Saintess feel confident that this attack will not be in vain. Duke Erica, who had been doing his job, joined forces to fill the ranks left behind, running to attack the dragon as hard as he could.

After striking specific parts of the smoke hit by the hard rock, the Guardian of the gods dashed towards the annoying lump aiming for the neck.

The whip was dodged by Duke Erica, who saw the Saintess's efforts to no avail and tried to attack the eye. Meanwhile, long-range rifles are still busy removing obstacles that interfere with the road ahead from afar. Everyone is trying to protect one person from achieving his goal; those annoying creatures appear more and more.

Their children are also busy helping to deal with the increasing attacks.

Hoping the attack could help the Saintess, who was busy using her two hands. Now Duke Erica did not hesitate to channel his Mana. Each finger spits a hard rock the size of a large shard of glass coated in strength.

The blazing blue Mana jumped toward the dragon by stomping onto the monster's body parts as a foothold. Whenever he trod on them, Duke Erica's feet ached from the stinging pain of large, hot needles.

Duke Leon forgot to reactivate the magic armor of the Mana Controllers, which was loosened and then upgraded to twice as strong. When he felt nothing, he sprinted, moving one of his hands and aiming at the side of the eye that was targeted.

The dragon screamed in pain, letting out a gust of wind; Saintess, seeing the opportunity, tried to aim her weapon again and succeeded. Now that the vast creature was in her grasp, the Saintess poured her holy power into her consciousness, a golden light creeping closer.

The radiance of holiness differs significantly from the power of controlling Mana; it is obtained after many generations of successors who talk to so-called gods. It happened when King Raul died.

The Saintess spoke to the dragon to immediately stop the portal in her body.

Seeing the portal sign getting smaller, Duke Leon locked the hole.

[Karang… klaang] the sound of moving chains wrapped around the dragon's body, binding its limbs, and they couldn't move, locking it.

The remaining monsters that got out, their children immediately advanced while attacking and slashing, forgetting the rancid smell of blood that littered the body and clothes used. Not the time to look attractive and charming for now.

Their lives depended on success this time before the dragon smoke completely disappeared.

Duke Stuart and Duke Owen saw the cue from the comrade Magic benders, directing with their might using weapons to shoot the heads of the dragons that were far away from where they were lurking.

[Siiiing]

Mana light entered the rifle's muzzle until he filled it. He pulled the trigger was located near to sight. The bullet hit the target like a rocket and was lodged in the head.

The dragon writhed violently. The Saintess was still trying to hold back her rising movement; Duke Stuart didn't miss swinging the knight's sword, slicing it in half, when the object Duke Owen sent him exploded.

The smoke disintegrated, leaving a small portion of his attack meaningless; Duke Leon sealed it and placed it in a chest as research material. What caused the dragon to appear?
