The lord stood beside Luna uncle, watching as Luna knelt down to say her final goodbye to her aunt.
"What are your plans?" The lord asked Luna's uncle.
He stared at his wife's grave and sighed,"I'll be going back to my home. It isn't save here any more."
"What about her? Would you take her with you?"
"I doubt she would come with me."
The lord gave a short nod to Luna's uncle's words before moving to were Luna was kneeling at.
"Your uncle wants to go back to the empire he belongs to. You can go with him or stay with us in the mansion."The lord suggested.
Luna stared at him throw her tear-filled eyes before looking at her uncle who stood quietly.
"Would it be okay if I have some time to say goodbye to my uncle?"Luna asked to receive a nod from the lord.
The lord would have offered his kerchief but he had earlier wiped his bloody hand with it.
The lord stood up before going to prepare the carriage.
Because of the incident that had occurred he would have a lot of paper work to do.
"Will you be okay with the lord?"
Luna's uncle asked in concern.
Luna nodded,"Yes, I will. I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too but I'll visit once in a while." A small yet bitter smile formed on his lips.
Luna gave her uncle a hug before going to the lord who was already waiting for her.
"Ready?"He asked to which Luna gave a nod.
...
Just after the butler left after taking Gina's plates did she hear the sound of the approaching carriage.
She stood up and walked to he window that had a good few of the entrance of the mansion.
The lord got out of the carriage and helped Luna out of it.
Luna was still in a state of shock. She had lost the closest woman to her heart and her uncle was also travelling to a far away kingdom.
Though he said he would visit, it was uncertain if he would make it back to his home with all the witches and wioves lurking around.
Luna could only hope for the safety of her uncle.
"Prepare one of the guest rooms for Luna. She would be living with us from now onwards." The lord informed the butler who had come to greet only the lord as he had not expected the lady to return.
Thought the butler had a confused look on his face it wasn't his place to ask. Bowing his head, he left to prepare a room for the lady.
Gina rushed down the flight of stairs when she saw her brother help Luna down from the carriage.
"What happened?" She asked referring to her brother.
"Not now, Gina." Gina pursed her lips at the response her brother gave her.
Something baf might have happened, she thought.
The lord stood quietly ad Luna followed the family butler to the room she would be using until she decided to leave the mansion.
"I'll be back to add some logs to the fire." The butler said as he opened the door for the lady.
Luna gave the butler a nod as forming words right now was too hard for her to do.
The butler gave one last bow before he excused himself.
Luna looked around the massive room that would be hers until she decided to leave here.
But where would she go if she was to leave. Her uncle? She had no one apart from him and was very grateful that the lord had offered her a place to stay.
"How is she doing?" asked Nicholas when the butler returned to the hall.
"She seemed to be ddep in thoughts."
Nicholas nooded his head at the butler's words.
"Master Nicholas," The Butler began.
"Hmm?"
"The only available room was the one opposite yours. Though there are other rooms, I thought it wise to keep her close to yoy especially because of the kind she is." The butler said referring to the fact that Luna was a Hansonian, a kind despised by the humans.
It would be very troublesome if any of the human guests became suspicious of the lady.
"Would you be eating before you retire to bed?" The butler questioned as the lord had missed dinner to send the lady home only to return with her.
"If you could bring a glass of blood to my room." Nicholas said before walking away from the butler.
Nicholas stood in front of Luna's room wondering if he should knock the door or not.
Just when he had decided not to bother her and was about to leave did the door to Luna's room open.
Ealier when Luna had sat down on the soft bed with her hands hugging her legs, she had noticed the shadow that had come to stop right in front of her door.
Wondering who it was, she had stood up and opened the door to see the lord looking like he was about to leave.
"Is there something you needed?" She asked him.
"How are you doing?"He asked looking straight into her brown eyes.
"I'm doing better now. Thank you for letting me stay here." She thanked him.
The lord nodded,"No need to be thankful. You can stay for as long as you want."
When the lord wished her a goodnight it was only then did she realize that her room was in front if the Lord's.
When he opened the door to his room, Luna was able to see the walls of the room that was painted with different shades of black, white and grey.
What a gloomy color, thought Luna.
Luna stepped back into her room before closing it shutf
.
. She layer on the bed without bothering to get beneath the sheets that were meant to keep her warm.
And before she knew it her tired body entered a dream state.
Luna's eye lids fluttered open. She covered her yawn with her hand and looked around to realize she wasn't within the four walls she remembered sleeping in but rather in the middle of a forest she did not recognise.
She walked around the place for a while before she found a path in the forest.
Following the path she came across only to reach a small village she knew very well. The same village that she had grown up in. The same one she had lost her dear aunt in.
Dread slowly filled her heart when she notice what was happening.
She could hear the eriee screams of those unfortunate to be caught by the wolves.
She ran to her house only to witness the exact moment the wolf had killed her aunt.
Luna seemed to have entered a time loop as she witness her aunts death over and over again until she had no more tears to shed.
Nicholas raised a brow when he smelt the faint scent of salt in the air.
Wondering if one of the servants had perhaps spilled salt on the floor but when he glanced at the golden framed clock in the room a frown formed on his face.
It was three and he was sure all the servants would be in the comfort of their rooms. And besides, the weather was too cold for one to be wondering around.
Putting the stack of parchment he was reviewing, the lord stood up and opened his door to search for who ever had spilt enough salt to attract his attention.
But the lord didn't take a step away from his door as he could hear the subtle sniffs coming from behind the door right before his.
Th lord placed his hand on the door knob only for it to open with a slight creak that only he could hear because of his hearing abilities.
The lord couldn't help but internally scold Luna for being so careless. One could never know who would try to break in.
Though the lord doubted anyone would be brave or foolish enough to a break into his mansion, prevention was always needed.
Nicholas could feel the cold biting into his skin. It was then that he noted the fire in the fire place was almost about to exhaust itself.
Nicholas opened the cabinet that usually stored extra logs for the fire and added it to see the fire crackle.
He stared at the shivering silhouette I'm the middle of the average sized bed.
Only when he walked closer to Luna did he notice the tears that flowed out of her shut eyes.
The lord sat on her bed and used his hand to wipe her cheeks,"Your okay, Luna. Its just a dream."
Though his words were quiet it was enough to wake Luna who hugged him so tightly the lord eyes widened.
Luna, whose mind was still clouded with the memories of what she saw, needed someone to comfort her so bad that she had hugged the lord without even realising who he was.
Nicholas could feel her heart that pounded hardly against her ribcage threatening to break throw.
"Its okay. I'm here for you. Always."The lord said the last part in a whisper.
Gentle patting her back the lord place his chin on her head.
