Chapter 11 - The life of Dylan (1)

"Can you use it to heal? I mean you could change the state of the wounded skin to one that has healed over time or even before the wound was made." Luna said, still trying to wrap her head around the abilities of the lord and his siblings.

Gina pursed her lips,"I haven't tried anything of that sort."

Why?, thought Luna to herself.

"Nicholas said I shouldn't use my abilities as I don't know the effects it would have on me." Gina answers her unspoken question.

But it made Luna wondered why the lord freely used his ability. Did he perhaps know what effect his ability had on him?

"Does Lord Nicholas know what effect his ability has on him and Lucas?" She asked unable to keep her questions to herself.

"Yes he does. After the separation he would have to consume more blood than he usually does."

It was then that she realized the lord and his siblings drunk blood!

She couldn't imagine the girl before her sinking her fangs into someone's neck.

"Can I see it?"

"What?" asked Gina, confused at the sudden question.

"Your fangs"

Gina stared at Luan, seemingly wondering if it was okay to show her fangs to her.

She slightly opened her mouth and Luna caught sight of her perfectly straight pearly white teeth.

Her canines that were of normal length began to elongated, becoming sleet, thin and pointy.

One that would easily break the surface of one's skin to draw blood.

"Does it scare you?" Asked Gina, worried that she was scaring her friend.

Luna shook her head vigorously,

"I think it's rather cool." She said with a goofy smile on her lips.

She placed her hand on her own canines that were of normal length.

"You know what.. Nick can turn you. He has never tried turning someone because we are different but I think it should work. I read about it in the library." Gina proposed.

"A library?" Asked Luna, excitement evident in his voice.

She loved books to her very core.

Gina stared at Luna wondering if the girl had heard anything about the transformation she had tried to explain.

Instead she had asked her about the library.

"We have one in the mansion but I read about it in the local library in one of the towns"

"Can we go there?" Luna asked and Gina had no choice than to agree.

"Can Abigail join us? She seems lonely in the mansion." Luna said, but even she doubted that the woman called Abigail was ever lonely, especially with the lords brother following her like a pesky fly.

Gina nodded having no problems with the addition of one more person to their little trip to the local library.

When the two women asked Abigail if she would like to accompany them to the library she had readily agreed, taken the chance to get as far as possible from Lucas and also to get to know Luna better.

"Tell the coachman to get the carriage ready." The butler ordered one of the maids after being informed about the plans of the ladies.

"Get going!" He shooed the maid when she continued to stare at him even after he had ordered her.

The maid walked away from the butler with hurried footsteps. It was only a month that she had started to work in the Lord's mansion and she still couldn't get over how agile the old butler was.

He looked like even a strong guah of wind would end him but she doubted he was as weak as she thought. Even with the way he walked, one could clearly see he was no doubt as fit as a fiddle.

She heaved a sigh of relief when she finally arrived at the shed where the carriages were kept.

"Where is Dylan?" She asked a fellow maid who was carrying a bucket of water.

"He is at the stable." She answered wondering why the other maid was looking for one of the coachmen.

The maid quickly made her way to the stable where she spotted Dylan leisurely leaning on the stacked hay with a stick in his mouth.

A part of his curly brown hair covered his forehead as his brown eyes stared at nothing in particular.

"Dylan." She called out to him.

He shifted his gaze to her, his droopy eyes staring into hers.

"T-the butler said to prepare the carriage." She said staring as he lazily pushed himself up before dusting his pants.

"Is that all?" Dylan asked.

She nodded but continue to stare at Dylan which made him question,

"Then what are you doing standing here? Don't you have any work to do than to stare at me?"

Dylan was already tired with the other maids trying to get his attention and he only hope this new maid wouldn't come to like him too.

He watched as she bolted out of his sight without looking back. One would think that he was too harsh on the girl but he knew why he had shooed her.

She could lose her job if the buttler caught sight of her standing idle when she still had other things to do.

Dylan took hold of the rope that helped him lead the four horses to where the carriages were.

Knowing he was going to be riding Lady Gina who rarely went out, he picked the strongest horses.

"Where are all three beautiful ladies heading to? It would leave the mansion quite dull." Lucas said with a smile on his face. He stared at all three elegently dressed women with his eyes lingering more on Abigail than the rest which went unnoticed by all three women.

"Luna wanted to have a look at the library." Gina said staring at her brother who still had the smile on his face intact.

"Don't we have one in the mansion?" A frown coming to form on his face,"Or is it not to your liking, Luna?" The smile appearing on his face.

"We are running late, Lucas!" Gina said before Luna could answer to Lucas' question.

"But the carriage isn't re-" Lucas paused when he heard the sound of the carriage approaching where he stood.

He glared at Dylan who looked lazily back at him.

Lucas offered a smile to the coachman, one that looked creepy. But the Dylan looked unfazed and proceeded until he finally brought the horses to a stop.

He jumped down from his seat and went to open the door for the ladies.

He could still feel the burning gaze of master Lucas, but he cared less.

"I'll see you all later then." Lucas waved at them.

"I hope not." Muttered Abigail under her breath but she guessed Lucas hears it because the smilenon his face only grew wider.

Giving the coachman one more look Lucas entered the mansion, offering every maid he saw which had them quicken their footsteps.

Even though it was a kind smile, the young master's eyes told a different tale. They all could see the craziness that danced at the back of his eyes.

But Lucas didn't care. He loved the reaction he got from people. In fact, he thrived on them. That was why when he wasn't received the expected reactions from a certain someone, he had continued to bother her until it had become his second nature.

Dylan closed the door of the carriage before hopping on his seat.

The horses started to move, heading to the large black iron gates before he left the Lord's mansion.

Dylan knew where head was to go already. Being used to going to only one place with Lady Gina, he knew she was heading to the closest library.

The carriage came to move on the muddy roads. Dylan tried his best to avoid the carriage wheels from entering any of the puddles but he failed as one of the wheels entered one of the puddles, making the carriage slightly sway to the left.

His wide shoulders stiffened in anticipation, a behavior he had brought from his former master's household.

His former master would have yelled at the top.of his voice at the mishap he had caused but not a sound of disdain could be heard from the ladies that sat in the carriage.

Either way, he got of his seat after stopping the carriage to see if the ladies were okay.

He knocked on the door before asking,

"Are you alright?"

He had to move an inch back when the door to the carriage was opened by the Lord's sister. Her blond hair a little messy from the carriage's movements.

He gave a deep bow,

"I'm sorry for what happened Lady Gina."

"It's alright. Things like this happen." She looked at the wet ground before commenting,

"The rains have left the road wet and muddy." To which Dylan gave a nod his brown eyes looking at her.

After ensuring that the ladies were okay, Dylan took himself to sit on his seat before he continued steer the horses.
