"I understand you're looking for someone to help a mentally ill friend of yours that a forensic psychologist is trying to interview as a witness?" her assigned lawyer, Devin Manfred, asked once she sat down in his office.
Vera nodded, twisting her hands in her lap. "My boyfriend, Casey Parker. He had some sort of psychotic break and hasn't been able to answer anyone's questions in weeks but I'm afraid the specialist they sent in is going to trick him into saying something incriminating when it isn't his fault."
"I've seen it happen before. I'll help you, Miss Gilmore, but I need you to be candid with me. I'll also need to employ a forensic psychologist of my own to find out all the facts if we're going to potentially avoid prosecution but we can deal with that when it happens."
Relief flooded through her. She knew about attorney-client privilege but she wasn't sure how that applied here since she wasn't technically the client.
