The investigation carried on and they discovered a few more crucial pieces of information from the autopsy report. Candace Parker had most likely cracked her head open on the corner of something.
This was troubling because it was entirely possible that it had been an accident. Or done in self-defense, just like they had considered in the Otto case because of the security footage.
That wasn't all either. The DNA they found all over Parker's apartment matched the saliva that had been found on Ashley Call.
There was only one set of DNA they could find. That included from both of the bunk beds, which cast doubt on the roommate theory. But why would Parker sleep on both bunks? That didn't make sense.
Of course, they weren't 100% positive the DNA was Parker's, but that did give them grounds to get a court-ordered DNA test. If it matched like they suspected, they would have sufficient evidence to nail him for Call's murder at the very least.
