'The cold air rushed my face as I lay on the ground, or pavement, I guess? I opened my eyes to the gray sky. Guess it's cloudy today, heh. Then it hit, pain my right arm was numb and my head ached slightly. I lifted my left arm to my horror, my nails chipped, and skin caked in grime and soot. I reached for my head to check for any wounds, relieved to find none. I must have been dehydrated. Reaching across my body I felt my right arm.
"Thank you", I say to the sky, as I realize why it was numb. I was laying on it! Ha! Fortune must be shining on me today. I sit up, and dread fills my veins and soul.
Buildings are in ruins, some intact while others have been completely demolished. The street is littered with rubble and corpses. The corpses were all over leaving no room for reason. The closest one was 13 feet away from me to my left. I could see the places where there were wounds, because the skin had completely rotted away. I looked away from the maroon mush to the rest of the street. Cars were on the road as well, there was a pile-up of about four in the middle of the road behind me.
As I look around the sense of dread filled me as I was alone. The building to my left was intact and it looked like the door was open, so I ran. I lunged up and over the decaying mess, to the door, and into the building. It was a nice restaurant with about 15 tables, 5 booths against the wall, and a few tables set with the rest in shambles and toppled over. The bodies were in here too, more decomposed due to the temperature being warmer than outside.
I sat down at the booths, which were thankfully unoccupied, and took in the mess that was my life.
A city is in ruins, it must have happened within the past 3 days because well, I'm dehydrated, not dead, so I nee... AAGGHHHH my head! I need to get some water or anything.
I scan the restaurant and spot the bar and walk towards it. There is a man slumped over a shot of what appears to be whiskey, but I don't need to find out yet.
The bar was intact, and I saw a cooler that had some beer, two shelves full of vodka and finally some water I rushed and grabbed the first bottle and downed it instantly, I dropped the glass and it cracked, but what did I care. I grabbed two more bottles and a Stolichnaya vodka bottle. I walked back to my table to continue my thought. I need to figure out where is this city I know I'm a Soviet citizen and this bar is proof I'm somewhere in the nation. It seems like I was by the coast as it feels more humid for the weather. Now what's my name? I can't seem to remember! Ha! What a time to forget such a thing! I must have some sort of identification as I'm wearing my coat, it has to be in one of the pockets! Ha! found them, as I reach intro my right jacket pocket. As I pull out the waterlogged papers I lose any hope of figuring out my name.
