Chapter 9 - Murmansk Naval Base No. 009

Crouching down so I could be safe, I had removed some of my snow camo for a more gray and darker colors. I could see the fence, the gate was unguarded.

Anyone could take this as a simple sign that no one would be there. As I approached the gate, I still needed to find another bike tire.

At this point I wasn't as worried about radiation as I was checking my surroundings. The first place I ran to was on my left and it appeared to be a supply depot.

There wasn't much inside besides some basic rags and mostly trash, I scoured through it and found a crate. I needed a crowbar if I wanted to know what was inside.

I looked and I found the top half of one, but using some destructive/creative skills I acquired a water pipe, and shoved the crowbar into it to make a larger lever. Using some rags I was able to help secure my little monster in place and popped that baby open.

It wasn't the best, I had found some military dress uniforms, I grabbed 2, putting them in my bag, and left for what would be the barracks.

I went and walked in unfortunately the top 2 floors had been destroyed, but I left that building with a sweet haul of 2 AK's and another Makarov, It was easy to tell that these were damaged but I kept them. Next was the armory, I left my new guns and bag and walked inside carefully. There was no one around on this floor so I went to check.

The bottom floor was pretty much empty and barren. I found a grenade that I pocketed, but that was all. As I walked up stairs something hit the ground, I rose my pistol and slowly continued.

As I walked upstairs I saw another big cat, except maybe a foot or two taller than the last one, it was covered in dark grey cuts and it looked like radiation had gotten the best of this guy, as I pointed my gun, a floorboard under my foot, creaked.

The cat jumped up and sprung at me, I fired two shots and then dove under it as it flew over me and into the stairwell. I scrambled to get up and fired three more times.

After that fun fight I found another crate, this one had unfortunately gotten wet, but luckily only 2/3 of it was damaged.

I pried it open and almost shouted in joy, Ammo. Unfortunately, all the assault rifle ammo was damp save for 5 rounds, these I pocketed as I saw the other, much dryer side, was pistol ammo. I got around 30 rounds as all the ones under the top layer had been made unusable.

I left and made sure the cat was dead before I left for the next building that appeared to be the Main Offices, this one was left intact, so I decided to finish of the base there and rushed to the canteen with my stuff. I found 4 unopened cans of ground beef, 6 bags of pasta, a 2lb bag of flower and finally around 10 bottles of clean water.

I sat down behind a counter and cooked up some food and gorged on the food with delight.

*** 2 hours later***

I got up after a quick nap and walked to my next target the two-story hospital. Checking the directory, quickly I realized that it wasn't worth the risk as that was where the sick were kept. A quick looting run through the pharmacy and I find 5 doses of painkiller pills and 2 doses of anti-rad pills. I snagged around 4 sealed gauze pads and 2 clean rolls of bandages.

I left after I got everything and left for my second to last and maybe my most important location.

The Garages.
