The city looked dead the smog had set in permanently and made the Grey stone greyer. I walked up to the city and slowly the counter began it clicking.
The city must have been irradiated and I ran out west of the city and around a kilometer away there was a house. The roof was intact and the door was shut, all windows were secure, when I went in to go and grab the door, the handle moved and the door opened.
I scanned the room and saw no danger. There was a door to the right. I slowly approached the door. I peeked into the room.
There was a skeleton under the sheets on the bed. Someone had died and through all the death, this one hit the hardest. I walked over to the skeleton, grabbed the sheet and covered him. This was the first time I was affected by this hell hole. I closed the door locked the room and never would enter again.
The kitchen had some canned beef, porridge, and some tuna. I checked outside and found some firewood to heat the stove, I threw in a match and heated up my new treat, this was my first taste of fish after I woke up. It did not disappoint.
Since the sun was setting I went and tidies up the couch and barricaded the door.
I slept well for the first time for a while, a nice deep sleep.

In the morning I was determined to go to Murmansk, but there was one small radioactive problem. As anyone approaches the city, at around 1, 200 meters, the Geiger counter would start to make its chilling static heard.
To combat this you need:
-4X Rags
-Good Clothes
-Hat that covers ears
-Gloves
You use 1 rag to cover any holes in your clothes the gloves and hat help keep hands and hair clean (no dust). Finally, with the three rags, you place the cleanest two in front of your mouth, tie the third rag with the two others to create a strap, and you have a basic mask.
I began towards the city covered up and filled with confidence. As the city came into view, I didn't hear any static, since I left most of my food and stuff at home. I had my pistol, my axe, and a knife. Along with a sealed bottle and a pre-cooked ground beef, it was cold now.
As I entered the city I found a bike in a Car Repair Shop, most of a bike both of its tires had deflated. After a quick search I found an extra bike chain, one tire, and a more comfortable seat, this bike had an added benefit. There was a rack on the back that could hold stuff. My back thanked my intuition and I set out into the street, with a set of tools I had found. I walked across the street and found a department store.
Now we could get cooking, I found a shovel and crowbar. Besides that the store was pretty barren. It was certainly nerve wracking as there were no bodies out in the streets.
I left the residential area and headed North towards the coast. As I was walking, I passed a bus stop. Something shiny caught my eye. A medal, upon closer inspection I froze, "Defense of Moscow". This was chilling and haunting. There was no name, but I instantly dropped to the floor and began digging. I wrapped the medal in a piece of spare cloth I had found, and placed into the hole, covering it I placed a cross over the grave.
Leaving the chilling scene a memory was in the back of my head, but I just couldn't remember. I continued on the street for another kilometer before I saw the fence.
The Military Base looked empty and barren.
