RHEIN'S POINT OF VIEW
I was late! Why did I wake up so late? How annoying. It was always like this. I am a woman but I am a sleepyhead.
The situation made me scratch my head. "I am going to alarm my phone tonight—that is right! I am a real fool. I should have done that a long time ago," I whispered to myself.
I was currently walking to Gonzales University where I was studying. I did not do anything but run and walk to get there faster.
I was able to enter the gate easily because the guard turned his back and was talking to someone on his phone. However, I had a hard time secretly entering our classroom while the teacher was discussing. It was the second period. The guidance counselor would scold me again if I happened to be caught and clean the library afterward. The place was too wide.
The door at the back of our classroom was always open so I simply crawled in. No one noticed me because my seat was in the back. As I was on my way there, I noticed my friends talking in whispers. When I sat in the chair between them, they automatically stopped and listened to our teacher.
"You are late again," Xyrille commented as she wrote in her notebook.
"Are not you used to it, Xyrille? Rhein is late as usual," Jean said, accompanied by a weak laugh.
"Whatever." I just sighed and pulled my pen and notebook out of my black backpack. "What were you whispering about earlier?"
They seemed surprised at my question. They did not look at me and both seemed to think for a while. They even looked at each other as if talking with their eyes, as if I was just not between them.
They were very serious while chatting earlier. I could not help but swim deeper into my curiosity.
After a few minutes, they still did not reply so I flicked my finger on their foreheads. They both looked at me badly but I just ignored that and looked to the front.
"Tell me later during break time."
It had been several minutes since we began eating snacks but no one had yet spoken. They looked restless while eating.
"Spill," I commanded them. "You are so serious about what you had been whispering. Maybe, you might as well share about it with me." I wanted to make a joke of saying those things but I could not because I felt scared about it. I also did not know why.
Xyrille was the first to speak. "You would not believe us either."
"You might also mistake us for being insane, Rhein. Just do not ask what that is," Jean added.
I was a little offended by what they said but I just did not show it. "I am your friend. Whatever it is, I will try to believe it. You have my trust, remember?"
They stared at each other and at the same time, breathed deeply. "Okay. We will tell you."
