I guess I fallen asleep or something because I woke up to knocking on my door. I quickly got up and opened it not really thinking about what it was about.
It was Jake.
"Oh. Hi," I quickly said as I looked away. "What do you want?"
"Ouch, a little harsh, don't you think? And here I was bringing you some dinner," he sarcastically said as he slowly walked away.
"Wait!" I yelled. I looked around checking to see if anyone else was listening or able to see. "Ok, you can come in." I opened up my door wide enough to let him in.
He victoriously smiled as he walked in.
"Nice room. Oh," he handed me the plate full of food, "here."
I looked at it and slowly took it trying not to seem greedy. I ate only half of what was there and then set it off to the side.
Guess I really wasn't hungry.
The whole time Jake looked at me with a stupid smile on. I shifted a bit and looked off at the plate.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?"
I didn't bother to look at him as I asked that.
"No reason in particular. Are you done?"
He pointed to the plate and looked at it as if he were hungry.
"Yeah, you can have it. I don't eat much."
He grabbed the plate and finished the rest.
Now I was the one watching. What supprised me was that he used the same fork. He didn't hesitate, he just put it in.
When he finished he laughed a little.
"Now who's the one staring?"
I quickly looked away not knowing if I was blushing.
"Whatever. Now if you're done then you can go."
"So you don't want to know why your mom's housing us?"
I looked up at up at Jake.
I do want to know but I don't trust him. I would rather want to here it from my mom.
"No I-I would rather hear it from my mom." I stuttered still a little flustered from before. Jake raised one eyebrow and made a questioning look.
"Do you not trust me? I mean I am a stranger," he said in a deep voice as he inched closer to me making me step back further and further.
Soon I was up against the wall. Jake grinned and looked right into my eyes. My body got a shock and tingled everywhere. My heart pounded a million beats per second and I lost the ability to breathe. Jake moved closer to me and leaned in.
Then right by my ear he whispered, "To tell you the truth, your mother invited us in to help you have a good time."
Goose bumps trickled up and down my arms. My heart skipped not one, but many beats. I stopped breathing for more than a second.
In that moment I wanted just him.
He laughed just a low, heavy laugh in my ear before backing away.
I knew my face was red from blushing and I bet he could feel my heart racing. He walked away and before opening my door he looked back.
"I was just kidding. Your mom will tell you tomorrow and if she won't, we will."
And then he was gone. I was still on the wall, still trying to breathe.
What was I thinking?
I could never want him.
Or could I?
It was all so confusing.
After I got out of my trance I went to the bathroom and splashed cool water onto my face. I changed inyo my pjs and turned off my light. I laid in bed having what happened go on over and over in my head.
I couldn't sleep. I couldn't think. I was stunned and tried to force what happened to the back of my head.
Slowly after maybe an hour of pondering, my heavy eyelids slipped down.
