Chapter 1 - Decision

"It has already been six years, and the whelp has not shifted yet. It has been thought upon, and decided, that the whelp should be sent to live among the humans."

The deep voice of the alpha spoke. Hiding not too far, I listened to the conversation between both him and my mother. Who not too long ago had told me to hide while she rushed to the alpha's home.

"I know she can shift. Her wolf is strong. Please, just give me some time if not that." Momma paused, I heard the acceleration of her hearts feeling an ache of pain from the sadness that leaked from her. "Think of my mates who died not too long ago." My momma pleaded.

She was on the verge of tears. My heart twitched within my chest at the thought.

I wanted to run towards her and shield both her and my unborn sibling but the alpha spoke again, his voice unforgiving.

"I am Alpha, my word is the law, it has been decided!"

With a flick of his tail, he finished his speech. Turning and ready to walk away. But my mother dropped on her knees at those heavy words.

She then lifted her head and spoke up pleadingly, reaching a hand that seemed so small and delicate compared to the huge male wolf in his beast form.

"Then let me exit the pack with my whelp. We both know how the sheep are; to anything different from their own. How can a predator live among prey? My pup may not be able to shift now, but you are aware that she has both my and my mates blood flowing through her veins! She can be... "

Her words trailed off as I listened to her words. Normally mother was a gentle she-wolf; who had fiery red and purple fluffy hair, falling like a thick soft cloud behind her with earth-toned brown skin, eyes a pale pink slanted upwards with an almond shape, her nose was straight and lips that were full, constantly smiling at me yet now... Mother looked weak pleading for someone not worthy enough like me, even if I was her pup.

Mother was known as the most beautiful she-wolf even before she had taken my fathers as her mates. The alpha had tried to woo her, but his wolf had been rejected.

It was a blow the alpha back then had never been able to recover from and despised my fathers, in turn for claiming the woman he could never have. During a major hunt, not long ago my fathers had died.

The explanation was that the prey had gone berserk and my fathers in order to save the nearby adolescents, lured it away but was attacked, a few betas had retrieved the bodies to be burnt by my mother.

At that time, I had heard the cry from my mother who had wanted to join them but she was with pup and was unable to. Paired with the fact that I was unable to shift-

"You are breeding female, those that are breeding are not allowed off pack lands you should not forget this!"

His words were rather gentle. I cocked my head to aside to look at the alpha who kicked and snapped at me every chance he got; I was young, but still fully aware of his feelings for my mother.

"She was the only one who survived. She is my first please..."

I could not stand that my mother who was without a mate and had two small children pleaded for me, even if one was unborn.

No, I had to relieve her of at least one burden.

At least with me no longer around, she can focus on her pup yet to be born instead of the one who could not even shift who was constantly bullied by the entire pack.

Sparing the female who took that weak form to show her sincerity to the alpha who was a massive wolf drawing her form, I thought in my mind; 'mother is so perfect, pleading for a waste. Mother is so perfect, trying her best to educate me. Mother is so perfect regardless of being with young she still..'

With those thoughts in mind, I turned away struggling not to cry, taking one last glance to look again at the woman who had birthed me, who showered me with love and taught me even though I had no beast side I was still a wolf and loved.

My only remaining family I had to leave... Tears blurred my vision as I ran, with all my might who even though compared to Wolf shifters I was slow.

I've fought as much as I could. It was time for me to let them take all my worries away. Mom will be fine. She had taught me as much as I could even though I couldn't shift.

I was still confident that I was a wolf without a wolf who can survive beyond our world.

"Please! No, have mercy on her! My... My pup... Why?... Please... She's the only one left... The only one left.." her hoarse voice echoed in my ears, breaking into a mourn filled howl.

I tried, but emotions they tend to get in the way distract you that forced you, in turn, to make a life-altering mistake.

If I had just focused more I'd not be caught, if I had just ran without a care I'd be safe... Right?

They snatched me up, knocking me out with a fist across my head.

Pain.

My forever friend welcomed me with open arms as I passed out.

Next, when I came to it, it was the first view of this crowded place.

My eyes widen in shock that they had not killed me off though I was in pain with what felt like fractured bones throughout. I gritted my teeth through the almost mind-numbing pain and thought to myself; at least I will heal, and at least I was no longer in that place.

Mother will be fine. She no longer had a burden such as myself.

With my nose being assaulted by various strange scents, I looked around, taking note of my surroundings.

Creatures walked upright, lacking any fur or scales. Wearing strange materials with flat faces. They looked almost like... Me.

The only thing that they did not have was my dark skin tone but regardless, they were close enough.
