Chapter 8 - PRINCESS IEVNA'S BEDCHAMBER

The second prince of Breviel lazily rested his sharp chin on his palm as his golden eyes followed every move of the servants in the grand hall of Shovalon Palace. He was sitting on the throne that belonged to the king of Shovalon fourteen years ago, behaving as if he was the new ruler of the dead kingdom.

The palace was like godowns after the Wemor witches conquered Shovalon. The once beautiful Shovalon was no different from the witch's house in Wemor after the witches managed to dethrone the king.

The witches lived in Shovalon, but it felt like no one lived here because there was a lot of dirt and even cobwebs everywhere. It was more like a haunted house.

'Even Cirrus' house is still better than this dead palace,' Prince Reigen couldn't help comparing the palace to his stallion's house.

Maybe it was the nature of witches. They used to live in Wemor's palace that resembled a slum, and they ended up turning Shovalon into a pigsty palace as well.

Prince Reigen was so full of himself after killing the strongest witch of Wemor. He immediately sent someone to return to Breviel to inform the king of the victory. His father had doubted his abilities before, and he wanted to show that he was strong and smart enough to be able to kill the strongest witch alone.

'I can't wait to see the old man's reaction,' he thought to himself as a smirk began to form on his face.

The prince had always been so arrogant and conceited, and he wanted the whole world to know about his accomplishments. He was sure that the news of Sharass' death had spread throughout the world, and he was also certain that the whole world would not underestimate him from now on.

The prince was wearing his red and golden outfit today, and he looked very haughty when he sat on the throne. He still looked bored as there was nothing he could do in this dead palace, and his eyes only drifted away from the servants when his ears caught the footsteps approaching the big hall.

When he looked at the entrance of the hall, he found his trusted guard marching towards him before stopping before the throne.

Saluting him like usual, the guard made the report to the prince, "We did as you instructed, Your Highness. Before His Majesty arrives at this palace, we will finish the cleaning as well as complete the initial stage renovations."

The blue-haired man was Connad, his bodyguard who had been with him since he was young. The man was the same age as his, and he often treated him as a friend.

Prince Reigen nodded his head after lifting his head from his palm. The king of Breviel would visit Shovalon tomorrow, and that was why the prince hurriedly order the servants to clean this ominous palace.

He wanted to show his father that he was a capable man, and he didn't want the slightest mistake to tarnish his image after he managed to kill the evil wizard.

"Apart from my father, my mother and older brother will also be visiting this place tomorrow, so make sure to prepare the chambers for them."

The Queen and the Crown Prince did want to go with the King. The Queen, his mother, had been very worried about him ever since he left Breviel, and that was why she insisted on going with her husband.

And for the Crown Prince. His older brother probably just complied with his father's orders to come along to this place. The Crown Prince would be the future king of Breviel, and King Karl probably wanted his oldest son to learn now.

Crown Prince Randver was only two years older than Prince Reigen, but they weren't close at all. It wasn't that the Crown Prince deliberately built a tall fortress between them, but it was Prince Reigen who didn't want to get close to the Crown Prince.

For some reason, Prince Reigen despised his brother.

"I understand, Your Highness," The guard, Connad, responded to the prince's orders. "I've instructed the servants to clean the king of Shovalon's chamber for His Majesty to stay with the Queen, and I assigned Princess Ievna's chamber for the Crown Prince to stay."

Connad sounded very reliable as he laid out his plan, but Prince Reigen suddenly had a disapproving look on his face. "If you give the princess bedchamber to my brother, then where should I live? Do you think I deserve a regular room when my brother can use the princess chamber?"

Prince Reigen was at it again. He never liked it when his older brother got better things than him, and he was enraged when he heard Connad say that he assigned the princess chamber for the Crown Prince.

Connad was in a difficult position right now. On the one hand, he knew that he had to prepare the best room for the Crown Prince as it was a custom, but on the other hand, he knew that such a task would not be liked by the second prince.

The blue-haired guard was baffled, but then he dared himself to make a decision. "My apologies for my thoughtlessness action, Your Highness. Princess Ievna's bedchamber is for you, and I will assign another chamber for the Crown Prince."

Connad chose to fulfill the wish of the second prince because the second prince was the one sitting in front of him now. The second prince was very picky, and he couldn't even stop complaining when he had to sleep in the tent last night.

The servants only started cleaning the mess in the palace today, and that was why Prince Reigen had to sleep in the tent last night after killing the witch Sharass.

Hearing Connad's decision, the second prince smiled with satisfaction. "You're smart for not trying to offend me, Connad," he complimented the guard. "But you just brought up the royal family of Shovalon, didn't you? Have you confirmed that it's true that none of the family members survived the massacre of witches fourteen years ago?"
