Chapter 12 - KING VS PRINCE

His father, mother, and brother had arrived after traveling for more than 10 hours. The distance between Shovalon and Breviel was not close, and his family had to be on the carriage for more than 10 hours.

His mother looked so tired, and he was sure that both his father and his brother were tired as well. However, those two men could hide their tiredness quite well. Men were so prideful, and they wouldn't let their weakness show on their faces.

"I have prepared several chambers, and Your Majesty can rest in the room that was used by the last king of Shovalon," Prince Reigen spoke politely to his father.

Even if he was a tyrant who would not care about other people's feelings, but he still knew that he could not offend his father. His father was a king, and he was powerless compared to his father.

"The last king of Shovalon was King Geraint, right? He was a tender-hearted king and was deeply loved by his people. He did not deserve such a tragic ending," King Karl replied to his youngest son's words while shaking his head.

"Perhaps it was because he was too gentle and soft-hearted that he was easily killed by those witches. People cannot rely on their kindness to survive," Prince Reigen replied coldly.

It seemed that King Karl did not agree with his son's response as he immediately frowned at his youngest son. "No one expects misfortune, Reigen. Can you stop acting so arrogant? You even act like this towards a dead person?"

King Karl suddenly rebuked his youngest son, but his son didn't seem willing to budge as he continued to put on a stoic expression.

Perhaps Prince Reigen could still be polite in front of his father, but if his father disagreed with him, then he would dare to challenge his father's views.

Prince Reigen has always been like that. Even though his father had the dominant aura of a king, he still dared to challenge his father's gaze. He wouldn't say anything harshly, but his gaze was as sharp as his weapon, Shadow Strike.

He probably wanted to slice through his father using his piercing gaze.

"Enough with the chatter," Queen Tassia suddenly interrupted as the father and son pair began to experience tension in the courtyard. "I think we should take a break for now. If you two still have something to discuss, then we can discuss it later after lunch. Do you agree with me?"

The beautiful queen brought her golden eyes to look at her husband and youngest son. The Queen had a pair of golden eyes, and the second prince was the person who bore a resemblance to her in terms of eye color.

Meanwhile, the Crown Prince had a pair of obsidian eyes just like his father.

Queen Tassia could sense that her husband and youngest son were on the verge of a fight, so she decided to interfere. The two men had high self-esteem, and it was nothing new for them to fight like that.

Moreover, King Karl was physically tired now, and when the king was tired, it usually affected his emotions.

"Alright," the king finally decided. "Just show me the way to the chamber. We can continue the conversation later after lunch."

Queen Tassia could heave a sigh of relief after her husband decided to relent. She then turned to her youngest son and motioned for her son to obey the king's orders.

Prince Reigen gave a loud snort before leading the way into the room he had prepared for three.

In truth, the prince was disappointed in his father. He had hoped his father would praise him after he had snatched Shovalon, but all he heard from his father was a series of criticisms.

His ego was hurt by the criticism, and that was why he couldn't keep quiet when his father was harsh toward him.

But he knew that this was not the time to fight, so he relented and led the three to enter Shovalon Palace. Ah, this palace wasn't Shovalon anymore, but it was Breviel's. Prince Reigen smirked as he recalled his plan related to this palace.

The prince smirked without noticing that someone was glaring at him with a pair of silver eyes. There, inside the prison tower, Princess Ievna couldn't take her eyes off the black-haired prince. It wasn't like she was captivated or anything, but she was furious now.

Princess Ievna used to be a calm and composed princess, but suddenly she showed all expressions on her face while clenching her hands into fists.

"That Prince Reigen is planning something bad," she muttered as her silver eyes followed the prince's every move. "Yesterday he said he wanted to build a monument to my family, and I almost fell into his trap. But just now he dared insult my father, and I could see he had a sinister plan in mind."

Princess Ievna was angry and kept throwing daggers behind Prince Reigen's head, but she couldn't do it anymore now that the prince had entered the palace.

The prince was out of sight, and Princess Ievna decided to leave the small window and began to pace back and forth in the cramped prison. She couldn't keep her cool anymore after seeing the prince's true colors.

Biting her nails, Princess Ievna tried to find a way to escape the prison. "If he wants to tear down this tower without knowing that I am here, then I will end up buried under the ruins of this tower. But if he finds out that I'm here, he might just turn me into his slave and torture me just like what the witches did to me."

The witches tortured her with the curse, but the prince would probably use other means to torture her if he managed to find her in this tower. It wasn't a good choice, but then the princess suddenly stopped pacing and stopped biting her nails too.

"But if no one finds me here, then I'll still be dead, right?"
