"The last set of elements is known as the elements of destruction. They consist of the fire element and the darkness element. They have no other purpose to us mages but to destroy everything in their path. I must warn all of you though, these elements are extremely dangerous and no matter how cautious you are, you or something else is bound to be hurt or destroyed."
The class became glooming at the thought that they could injury those they loved because of their carelessness when using one of the elements. A small girl at the back of the room raised her arm into the air. Professor Benoit saw it and nodded for her to ask her question. "Professor, do we have to learn these elements because I don't want to hurt anyone I know with this magic." She said as tears appeared in the corners of her eyes. Everyone looked at the professor for answers, as she had used the exact words that they were thinking.
Professor Benoit gave a deep sigh and then looked at the girl in her dark brown eyes. "Do not worry young lady, we train everyday as mages to prevent ourselves from harming those we care about. All the professors at the school save these elements for last because we want all of the students to be able to control the mana that flows through their body first. Do not worry, we will not let any student use such magic without supervision, even our top students are watched so that no one gets hurt by their spells."
The young girl wiped the tears from her eyes and gave a small smile in response. Professor Benoit gave a smile in return and then continued, "Of course we won't let students use these spells without supervision but that doesn't mean we don't use them for good. For example, healers use darkness magic." Everyone looked at the professor with big eyes and then at each other to make sure they weren't hearing things.
"Yes, yes I know that that sounds weird as healers fix people, they do not destroy their patients' bodies. But think about this, what do healers use to destroy growths or body affecting diseases that are not supposed to be their without destroy that very thing. A healer uses very precise bursts of darkness magic to destroy the area that is affected and then light magic to repair the tissue. Light and darkness are two sides of the same coin, as is earth and air, and fire and water. They all complement the other."
"This is what makes magic so amazing. It is the fact that we don't know what the bounds of magic are and the fact that it is pushed every single day makes it more intriguing. Once you get your specialisations you will understand that magic is boundless, and you could be a mage that makes our society change for better or worse because of your discoveries." Professor Benoit took a deep breath in.
"I know that I have been babbling on for quite a while, but I wanted you to understand the effect magic has on our world and it has yet to have. That you could be a genius mage in a certain field and stretch our understanding of magic. Now that we have finished with that can everyone please write down what I am about to draw on the board here. You don't have to, but I recommend you do as it will help when you study in your respective classes."
The professors started drawing symbols on the board to represent each element. Three swirls next to each other represents air, a circle with a star in the centre represents light, a circle with a snake tongue and the bottom and three smaller circles in the circle represents darkness. A mountain top with two lines diagonal across represents earth, a circle that continues for three loops and has a line down the middle represents water and a circle with three lines up like a crown and a line across represents fire.
"Now, once you are all done with that, please can you pack your things up and go to your dormitory and wait until your next lesson. That is all for today because we aren't teaching full lessons only basic lessons. I will accompany you back, but we will wait for everyone to finish writing down if they wish too. Before that any other questions." The student's hands stayed down. "Good, then please finish and then we will leave."
Everyone scribbled down the drawings of the elements to make sure they could get a little head start on the rest of the grade no matter what. Unbeknownst to them most students who had the money had hired tutors who taught them this and much more. Ezra was way ahead as her mother hired tutors for every subject and had taught her from what she was taught when she attended school. Once they were done, they stood up and thanked Professor Benoit for the lesson.
Everyone walked towards the portal together and went through until they arrived at the dormitory. Mrs Ferg was waiting at the door for them as well as the other students that had done a different class. "Welcome back everyone. There is a sheet of paper on the noticeboard that will tell you when your next class begins and where you will go. The Professor in charge will meet everyone here and then take them to their respective locations. If you do not have a class you can relax your rooms until your next class."
"Thank you, Mrs Ferg." Professor Benoit said as the next group of students came through the portal. "Now then everyone if you wish to carry on with this course, there will be a sheet for names on your noticeboard tomorrow morning. Just write your name and we will meet here and then go to class at the same time."
Everyone walked inside the building to give space for the next class to hear the instructions. "Oh, and children." Everyone turned around, "I will ring the bell 5 minutes before it is time to leave for your next class so do come down then. You can go now." Everyone walked to their rooms or the noticeboard to double check when their next lesson was. Sasori had hand-to-hand combat next, but he had an hour break.
He went up to his room and opened with the key that appeared. He flicked his shoes off his feet and leaped onto his bed to relax. He grabbed his book he had made notes on and looked at it while thinking over Professor Benoit's lesson. 'I definitely need to go back tomorrow. I didn't understand the point of the symbols but everything else seemed easy. The only problem is I don't know what will be tested on.' He sighed while throwing his book on his desk.
He lay with his head on his pillow and fell asleep after all the information that he had taken in during the lesson. 55 minutes later the bell rang right on time and Sasori woke up but was still sleepy. He slowly walked downstairs and went to the area designated for his group to meet. He saw Jacob walk towards while shouting his name and waving, "Sasori, oui Sasori."
