Chereads / Samsara: The legend of Emrys / Chapter 5 - Review

Chapter 5 - Review

I stayed inside as I had thrown up an exponential amount of food the previous day, naturally, my parents had instinctively decided that it would be better for me to stay indoors.

[spiraling winds]

I chanted quietly, the mana around the palm of my hands condensed as small spiraling winds became quite visible to the naked eye, instinctively I threw my hands forwards and the winds shot out towards where my hands had pointed too, though unsurprisingly dispersing as it made contact with the walls of my spacious room.

It was time to do a quick review of all the things I remembered.

Firstly, despite how vast one's mana may have been it didn't account for strength but it did account for potential.

Secondly, there were 3 different types of mages, enhancers, Emitters, and sensors.

Other races similarly used mana in a fashion that may have differed from humans' use slightly.

And lastly...

I haven't encountered a person other than my parents since my arrival in this new world.

My mana is condensing and it won't be long till I make it to that of a semi-intermediate mage.

"Emryssss" my mother hollered signaling that breakfast had been prepared. I trudged out of my room, my mother's grey insightful eyes inspected me and while she could've played it off as worry, she was looking for something else.

"Have a good night's rest" she questioned merrily as she placed some porridge upon the table, my father on the other hand didn't even try to mask his anxiety or uncertainty.

There was definitely fear and worry in their eyes...

But it wasn't directed towards me... Rather towards what was around me.

It had confirmed something to me though.

Something was without a doubt in my mind going on.

I dug into my food listening into my parent's conversations in hopes of discerning their thoughts or possibly finding anything that lead to my being here.

"Mom... Dad... Why are we all alone?" my parent's body tensed at my inquiry my mother hesitated for a moment but my father quickly stepped in for her. "were on a very important mission assigned to us by the King of Alynthia"

My face remained indifferent at his answer which caused the tension within the room to rise even further. But the truth of the matter was I was too deep in thoughts to consider what he had stated.

Using the Elven King as a lie to justify why we're here was definitely smart but considering I wasn't a little kid nor was I naive something like that wouldn't work on me.

"I see..." I replied in a disheartening manner.

Several hours quickly flowed by...

And things were different now, my parents constantly had their eyes on me and my mana usage was being monitored by my mother.

I sighed my disappointment evident to both my mother and father as I closed the book that had been held within my hand.

[ransoring tempest]

I recalled a word from the book subconsciously, wind gathered on the palm of my hands, the mana within me condensed it and my mother could only look at me in shock, my attention quickly turned towards the ever-growing mana that was within my hand its uncontrollable weight and power becoming clear to my worried parents.

My mother began chanting out words.

Words that I couldn't quite understand but the moment she finished, the words that had previously been incomprehensible became clear.

[dispel]

She chanted and as she finished her incantation the mana that had been building up within my hands dispersed. "Emrys are you alright?"

My father quickly pulled me into a hug, I liked hugs and all but it seemed like their worry was finally starting to become too much... And I noticed something with my mother.

She was starting to get...

Out of shape?

"Emrys... I'd prefer if you restricted your use of such spells..." my father calmly asked and I finally had a clear glimpse of his face for the first time in quite a while.

Dark bags remained underneath his eyes and his normally vibrant skin tone was pale. Tristan normally made idiotic retorts but as far as I could tell based on facial features alone all I could see from him was lack of rest.

"your mother's pregnant" he bluntly admitted my eyes shot up to look at him as I regained concentration. The worry in my eyes must've shown because he ran his hand through my hair with a slight chuckle. "It's nothing you need to be worried about Rys..."

"But who's gonna help her with the baby!" I shot back and my dad awkwardly scratched the back of my head. "the same person that helped us with you..."

I paused for a moment.

What did he mean by that?

I looked back on it and now that I had thought about it, there was indeed a voice there during my birth, but the memory was far too vivid and unclear for me to make a clear picture of what was going on.

My eyes brightened up though after all a person was gonna be here!

"don't cause them too much trouble," he said with a smirk.

Tristan's Pov

I stood up running over towards Yelaina who's heavy breathing didn't seem to get any better.

"take a break..." I said quietly so that my words would be audible to her and her alone. She nodded her head from side to side as she looked towards me with a kind gentle smile.

She's overworking herself, even though I'm not the one who's nearly 9 months pregnant, I was struggling to keep up with our current schedule.

Emrys was advancing a lot faster than the Elves had informed us.

I sighed grabbing Yelaina's hands, her grey orbs locked with mine as I smiled back at her.

"let me take care of it, you need rest, just give me instructions on how you want things done" I calmly stated.

"Tristan..." she murmured.

"Mom, Dad I just finished cleaning the kitchen!"

"or let Rys do the work"
