Syrus Pov
It's been 4 hours since we've left and I've officially decided to start documenting the different things we encountered, take for example this blue lily.
Not much scent, minimal amount of leaves as well as ultra sensitivity to water absorption and resistance to even the most serious dips in temperature.
"what's that you're holding" the voice of my companion caught me off guard as he swiped away my documentation. "a diary" he calmly stated, it was certainly rare to see a human the same age as me function normally without crying every few seconds and it was even rarer that they wouldn't panic despite being stuck in large amounts of ice cavities.
"its not a diary, I'm documenting everything we're going through" I countered ripping the book from his grasp, he tilted his head slightly in confusion.
"but it was talking about how you felt about the elder dragons" I paused for a moment and my mind went black as he mentioned the elders.
My father was dead, I couldn't sense his mana anymore and what's more, he's transferred his powers to soneone who could potentially wipe out the world of 5 as we know it.
I ignored him the air around us becoming more frigid as I felt my mana surge out of control, I took a deep breath in ignoring the somewhat worried look in his face.
"were not friends, all I'm doing is helping you so I'd prefare if you didn't talk to me... At all" he looked at me for a moment considered what I said before looking at me once more.
"and how exactly do you plan on not talking to someone your stuck with" he said in an almost teasing manner, how the hell could he take out situation so lightly.
I trudged through the snow towards him grabbing his collar when he was within arms length. But before I could say what I had in mind both of us perked up completely in sync.
Just what hell was that noise?
Emrys nodded at me in a mind reading manner as we were most likely 5hinking the same thing. It would be hard and rare for a group of people including dragons to pass through such an area.
Afteralll the place we were currently at was a dense populous of ice cavities, the only reason people would take such a route is if...
Alnost on cue the neighing of horses and the loud roars of dogs became quite audible to the both of us, and it had confirmed our suspicions, someone was passing through.
Emrys quickly grabbed ahold of my hand amping the both of us with wind magic as he charged forwards through the large piles of snow that blocked our paths.
When we made it a fair distance away we decided it would be best to investigate just what we had heard.
We watched as a group of carts and sleds carried by a mix of both husky dogs and horses came into view. "this was one helluva harvest"
My eyes narrowed at the equipment he had, he wielded thick heavy fur coating as well as two short blades upon his back. Brown hair a scruffy messy beard quite similar to my father's human form.
"An ice Lynx cub, an ice elf and heavily infused mana crystals" A man reported as he read through what looked like a heavy amount of documentation. "it won't be long till we make it to Travostacia" an older man with a husky voice added as he got himself out of the carriage, strands of his grey hair and brown eyes became visible as he removed the fur covered hood he had.
"Did you guys hear they've found the 'end of the world'" another man interjected as he hustled out the carriage, his sudden speech a gaining the attention of the others.
"he's got short blonde hair, teal eyes and is only 4 years old, according to the knights of Winston" the man continued his eyes glancing from one member to the other. "and according to new information, Tristan Arrington and Yelaina of the druids have been spotted near Alynthia!" the man's eyes were filled with worry as he only earned laughs and chuckles from his fellow comrades.
I looked over towards Emrys, his teal eyes had completely focused on the group upon the mention of his parents name, and in a flash he was gone.
Emrys's Pov
I darted from ice ledge to ice ledge but my movements halted as the surrounding ice grew into a sparkling community of dancing lights that vibrantly reflected the moons radiant glow. This sudden use of magic however caught the attention of the men I'd been stalking they're eyes fixated on the bright lights just above them.
Was he helping me?
Honestly at this point I couldn't tell.
I had originally planned on taking them out anyways but with this new info on my parents taking action would come a lot sooner than anticipated.
Amping my legs with what I had concluded as 'light' magic and wind magic I charged at the group of men In a burst of speed using the bright lights as camouflage as my hand made contact with the first man's skin tearing through his flesh like it was nothing more than simple butter, it didn't take long to take for the others to spot me.
"Nat!"
"what the hell!"
They're eyes were in shock at what I had done, my face completely bloodied my white hair now laced in blood, as I wiped away the remnants of blood off my cheek.
The man with the two shortblades looked at me in shock at what I'd done, his eyes reminded me off my old life.
'There is a scream of the mouth and lungs, and a scream of the eyes and soul. If the former gets no response, the latter begins.' it was a quote that often went around during war ridden times and I'd seen enough of it to realise the man before me was experiencing both.
His eyes transitioned from one of complete and utter sorrow to that of deep seething resentment. "calm down Sebastian!" the older man said grabbing ahold of his comrade, hjs eyes turned to meet mine before speaking out once more.
"we'll have to be careful expecially when dealing with this little monster" the man said sternly grabbing ahold of his long sword that was pointed towards me, Sebastian could only watch as his two comrades prepared to engage me.
"but... He killed my brother..." his grip on his knives tightened as he said so, but his speech was cut short as an ice shard pierced his stomach. He looked down towards his stomach then towards the sea of lights that layed above them before collapsing to the ground, his blood soaked into the snow leaving his two teammates in shock.
"you've got to be kidding me-" but before he could even finish his sentence I had already inserted the man that was known as Nats weapon into his leg causing him to fall to his knees leaving his face wide open for a kick.
The oldest of the group looked towards me in pure disbelief, dropping his longsword to the icey ground as he took notice of the blue lights overhead.
Syrus dropped down from were he was landing unsurprisingly landing majestically upon the icey ground his eyes met mine as he saw the mess we had made. His first time killing most likely.
"w-what do you want from us?" the man asked in a pleading tone my eyes scanned over the surroundings finally zeroing in on the presence of another person, most likely the elf they had been taking about.
"we want all your supplies including the carriage sled and the merchandise you spoke up before" his eyes widened at this.
After all both him and the guy I hadn't knocked out would die in the freezing cold but I couldn't give too fucks about him.
"were heading to Alynthia." I said sternly looking over towards Syrus who only nodded in disagreement.
"there's no need, we'll head for our original destination just as my dad told us, if we listen to what he says everything we'll go as planned" though I was hesitant Cirrus hadn't been wrong thus far, but I didn't wanna risk it.
And besides... It wasn't exactly the right time to argue with a young boy in such a confused state especially after the loss of someone that important too him.
I grabbed ahold of the weapons loading them unto the two different carriage-sleds, the dogs and horses that worked together to pull the equipment didn't move, most likely out of fear.
"Tristan!" Syrus's voice suddenly called out and I looked over at him confused and his eyes quickly made me realise. That revealing my name wasn't a wise decision.
I walked over towards the other carriage noticing the elven girl within it as well as piles and piles of weapons, and a cub.
"you wanna ride this one? Your more fit fore something like this" I suggested merrily ignoring the terrified look the mercenary gave us as he backed away slowly. "move another step and I'll kill you"
Syrus glanced over at me his eyes filled with uncertainty, I took a deep breath, I was never good with kids but Cirrus claimed that this whole world was in danger and I needed Syrus's help so...
I patted the boys shoulder he looked over to me as I gave him a smile.
That was until my eyes met was Syrus had been glancing at, pale skin and light blue hair with similarly coloured eyes, I looked back towards the mercenary he flinched taking notice of my ever rising anger.
"the hell were you gonna do with her?" I queried but the man avoided eye contact as though he had accepted he was going to die.
Go figure.
"Syrus think you can protect her till we reach our destination" I inquired and though the boy was nervous he hesitantly nodded as his eyes met mine.
I stretched my body, moving towards the sled I had laid claimed to. "you've got quite a bit of money in here, you don't mind if we use it by any chance"
The man didn't bother speaking already knowing whatever opinion he inputed wouldn't matter. "well I suppose we should start moving" Syrus interjected as he got onto his own carriage and I nodded in agreement.
