The trio (plus Naki) arrived in Travostacia the next day, the city smell reached their noses as each one took the scenery in quickly engraving it within their minds. Emrys's head darted from one place to the next, it was the first time he'd been out since before his reincarnation and he was overflowing with excitement.
the smell of fresh foods being served and the heat it provided despite the cold the Gelians held, and the colloquium of voices only further excited the two boys, however, Eira was indifferent instead choosing to sink into the background and observe the two as they excitedly looked through different marketplaces.
"Man it's been so long since I've been out!" Emrys exclaimed with a bright smile, his focus turned to Syrus then to Eira. "what do you think of it? isn't it great?"
The rhetorical question caught the elf off guard as she hadn't been paying attention, the two boys' attention now on her, Eira nodded preferring to show appreciation rather than speaking to keep in her comfort zone. Emrys looked over towards Syrus, his playful expression quickly disappeared and Syrus quickly took note of it. "what are we supposed to do here?"
Syrus examined his surroundings before grabbing the two he had traveled with and pulling them aside into an alleyway away from any prying eyes. Syrus took several glances examining his surroundings, the elven girl quickly picked up on the intense focus the boy's eyes held, and the Lynx hybrid that had been so deep in sleep awoke in her arms due to the sudden stir of mana that Syrus had released. "perfect looks like its just us,"
Syrus looked over towards Emrys with a kind smile "it won't be to hard to locate and allocate our host, but it'll be harder to explain things" Syrus looked over towards Eira as he uttered the last part of his words and despite the girl's young age she quickly caught on to what he meant.
"Yeah, you're right, but still we should bring her along just in case," Emrys suggested and his 'brother' agreed with that notion. "I agree but... we'll be here in Travostacia for a while,"
Emrys's carefree attitude dispersed just as quickly as it had appeared as he locked eyes with Syrus who avoided his perceptive gaze.
"how long?" Emrys inquired and Eira backed away from the two as soon as she noticed the increasing tension the air held. Syrus sighed before meeting Emrys's gaze.
"Till you're of age to attend Carnium academy"
the silence that came with the revelation was unbearable to the already anxious elven girl who felt like she was gonna choke under the pressure. Emrys's jaws clenched, his eyes were unusually calm but the anger he held was there, even if he tried to hide it, the fluctuation and aura his mana held could easily convey how the boy was truly feeling.
"I've read in books that to attend magic academies, is to be 13 at least, how exactly am I to find my parents and sibling during that time" Emrys inquired, and when Syrus remained silent his anger only rose.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't leave right now!" Emrys struggled to keep his emotions together as he looked to Syrus, the boy's ever-growing anger had caused his mana to pour out and become visible, which while they had tried to avoid doing so, ended up attracting the attention of onlookers. "can we talk somewhere else"
Syrus retracted the statement he had prepared for the reincarnator, both shocked that the person to stop their argument was the usually timid girl.
"you're right," Emrys agreed hesitantly
000
it wasn't rare for me and Emrys to have disagreements, but by far this was the worst one that could genuinely have escalated into an all-out brawl between the two of us, thankfully Eira was there to mediate the situation but that still doesn't help the tension between the three of us.
Slowly but surely as we passed and turned through different streets moving to the less crowded area, we eventually found the house my dad had imprinted into my mind.
House?
This was anything but a house.
"are we... lost?" Eira questioned innocently Emrys glanced over at me the anger seemed to flush away the surprise that he, under normal circumstances, would've had.
"no...this is it" I clarified, before us stood not a house. But a mansion, 100m tall and more than 300m wide, the whitish greyish mansion stood proudly on the outskirts of the city due to its sheer size.
"looks a lot like Kogwarts from Barry Gotter" Emrys dully added as he made his way to the gate, his eyes flickered over to me expectantly as soon as the gate didn't open for him.
I made my way forward quickly pulling the insignia my dad had lent me and placing it against the gate, in response it flung open much to the shock of Eira but Emrys remained unimpressed.
we took our first step forward and were immediately greeted by a man, one whose movements even I couldn't track, Emrys stared at him apprehensively trying to deduce whether the man's movement was due to raw speed or some other method.
however upon closer inspection of the man it wasn't hard to realize who he was, his grey blazer that held the Knightons insignia, his near-perfect mannerism, and the astute and curious glances he gave to us.
"you're..." but before I could finish what I had blurted out he stopped me as he eyed just beyond the gate. "we can continue such chatter inside"
"Master is waiting"
