Chapter 8 - Progession

//The Wolf Clan Longhouse//

A man rushes into the longhouse of the Wolf Clan. He walks towards to leader of the Wolf Clan and requests an private audience.

"There are no secrets in the Wolf Clan, Speak What you must." Said The Wolf Clan Jarl.

"My apologies Jarl Bjorn." Spoke the man.

"Everyone quiet we have an urgent announcement." shouted Bjorn.

"Speak Hermodr." said Bjorn.

"Oh great Jarl of the Wolf Clan I bring terrible news Eir has traveled on his own towards the Phoenix Clan and challenged Erling the Great and was slain by his son Erik after defeating Erling." spoke Hermodr.

"WHAT! The Milkman was slain by a boy it must have been a flaw in his Judgement because no mere boy can slay Eir who was the champion of the Wolf Clan." said Bjorn.

"Jarl it has been said that the boy slayed an Adult Beargator and cured the deadly Reaper disease at the age of three. It has been said that the boy is favored by the gods." said Hermodr.

Bjorn and the rest of the Wolf Clan's higher members now sat in silence and awe for a child to do that he must be stronger and faster than all of them present. Admits all the silence Bjorn spoke," Prepare the longships we will be visiting the Phoenix Clan to see this Child that is Favored by the Gods and hope he won't blame the Wolf Clan for his fathers' death."

After hearing this proclamation from Bjorn all those in the Wolf Clan prepared for the long year and six month trip towards the Phoenix Clan.

//Phoenix Clan//

Erik is looking at a map of the Phoenix Clan and its borders not that he needed to. The Phoenix Clan's territory was an entire island bigger than the states of Florida, Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama combined. So for the main region inhabited by the Phoenix Clan he would start construction on a wall but he needed simple machines that would lighten the workload of his people. Erik decided to visit the mines where they gathered ore to forge their weapons.

Once he arrived at the mine with the village miners he realized that he couldn't tell the rocks apart and asked VICKI if there was a skill that would help him identify the rocks.

{The Skill Prospector allows you to see what things are and gives the proper knowledge for mining these items. Purchase Prospector for 10 System Points?} said VICKI.

Erik immediately purchased the skill and internally cried at the loss of ten system points. Now it was time to test out this new skill, once activated his vision lit up as he saw Limestone, Iron, Coal and a few more ores around him.

He traveled further in the mine and saw some shale. There was also an underground lake in the mine that the Vikings had ignored. In this lake he saw the last item he needed for this next project. He thanked the blacksmith for showing him around the mine and told him to get some guys to start mining these items in bulk.

Erik also showed the blacksmith how to make fences with the large amount of iron that they had acquired. The blacksmith in question is named Fjord and his eyes lit up with enthusiasm as Erik showed him that these fences were a lot stronger than the wooden walls they had been using. Fjord also suggested that they should use these for the village walls but Erik told him he had a plan for that.

Next, Erik got the builders together and asked them to construct a stone building that was about the size of two longhouse in length and four in width. He also gave them tips on how to make the building more sturdy. He told them the location would be the open field after exiting the village gates.

The Builder Fakir told Erik it would take around four months to get completed and with that Erik took his leave.

Erik finally returned to the longhouse in the late afternoon and began getting ready for bed. He still slept in his room and let his mother keep their room. His mother Freya was still in a state of depression and would sometimes snap on Erik, once she asked why hadn't he stepped in sooner. His reply was simple he did not want to dishonor his father by interrupting his duel.

Freya understood where her son was coming from she wouldn't have interrupted the duel either she was just furious that Erling had died to a örlendr (Outsider) named the Milkman.

Erik was astonished and frustrated at the same time, he had some great rewards for these side missions but it still had frustrated him that he hadn't thought of these yet. Erik guessed that is why the Embodiment gave it to him as side Missions.

//The Void//

"Ah he is progressing quite nicely but the true test is yet to come." said number one.

"How will he feel will he let his rage take over or will he power through it?" said two.

"Set up the beacon the others will know soon that a new champion had risen." said three.

Once again the three disappeared without a trace of the ever being there. This time there was a fourth figure along with them he wasn't the Embodiment but it was Erlings' Spirit who had found out the truth about his son and where he was from. He was terrified of those who would oppose the Phoenix Clan for they would be destroyed in the near future.
