Chapter 12 - The Wall

Now that Erik had the basics to improve his empire's outer defenses, he was ready to start building the wall. The wall they were building was using Roman Concrete which was a lot sturdier than what these people were using.

The information that VICKI gave him about this world's wall were large stones held together by wooden beams from the inside so they weren't that structurally sound. Even a small vase filled with oil that was lit on fire with a cloth would crumble a large section of the wall.

So for the wall that Erik envisioned it would be a layer of large concrete bricks stacked on top of each other with the wet mixture binding each layer.

He also wanted it to be 15-meters tall and 8-meters thick which would be a hard task for these people since walls were mostly 6-meters tall and 4-meters thick almost everywhere else, with some cases being as high as 8-meters tall and 6-meters thick.

Erik also needed an easy way to move a massive amount of people up and down that didn't require stairs or ladders. He would use a simple lift that had its own generator and move a large amount of people, supplies and weapons quickly.

Now, it was 4pm and there was a meeting scheduled with Fakir and with all of these ideas in mind Erik headed over to the Building Industry, which he would have to come up with a name for since the words Building Industry slightly annoyed him. On his way over there he saw Ragnar, one of his childhood friends and decided to bring him along since he wanted Ragnar to gain the basics on Engineering and Electronics to become the future head of a new Industry he wanted to create.

Arriving at the Building Industry they were both greeted by a multitude of people who they greeted back and continued towards the meeting room and greeted Fakir who in turn greeted him back happily.

Erik could have sworn Fakir was more excited for this meeting than he was, not minding that the meeting started and Erik gave Fakir the rundown of the wall and that he only wanted it encompassing the Entire town not the whole island.

"Erik, this is brilliant, can we start immediately?"

"Yes, but I have a few general rules: there will be two shifts or times when people will work. So I want you to split everyone into three teams, one for each shift and another working on other things. Next, the first team would start from sunrise and work until midday. The second team will work from midday until sunset and No one will work when it becomes dark until we get lights set up outside, which shouldn't take more than a few weeks. In a few months you will be getting more workers to lighten the workload.

Finally Erik was done with the construction plans of the wall. The next thing he wanted to do was to head over to the chemical industry to get things like soap, shampoo, paper and other cleaning compounds made. Erik was most excited for this because he hadn't taken a proper bath in years.

He quickly met with Tom and told him to allot some people to make these products in bulk. He decided to give Tom the recipes and not teach everyone how to do it but let them experience trial and error. Also he was pretty busy because today was August 30th the first day of school and he also decided to teach everyone Mathematics.

The day that school started all the children walked into the class labeled mathematics and were surprised when they saw Erik standing at the front of the class.

'Ok everyone take your seats and quiet down today we will be learning addition"

Everyone quickly headed to their seats and began pulling out their writing stones and parchment sheets.

Erik had also purchased a ton of parchment sheets from Alex and gave them to the children so they would have something to take notes on until paper was done being created.

Classes went on for a few hours until the sun began to set, school wouldn't usually start this late but he wanted the children and teachers to get used to the environment and today was also a Friday. The children would head home and hopefully go over their notes and study because come Monday they would be starting classes at 8am and end at 1pm. They would do this until Friday where school started at 7am and would end at 12pm.

Erik wanted them to get used to the concept of time so he gave instructions to ring the alarm bell in short bursts according to the time. It would start off at 7am ringing seven times and would end at 10pm where Erik had allotted mandatory sleep time.

Even though the sun was setting he headed over to the Blacksmithing Industry and spoke to Fjord and the others about placing the fences they had made around a 6 hour walk from the gates north.

This place is where he would start construction on the Bootcamp for the military and their Base. Erik would start off by splitting the recruits off into divisions, these divisions would be then given three RDC's (Recruit Divisional Commanders) each. Then eight of these divisions would then be separated by which branch they are going into. Finally each group would train for eight weeks as recruits until they leave for their branches and train for their jobs in those branches.

In boot camp there will only be recruits and RDC's none of the recruits would get ranks until they get to their branch. The RDC's would be from each branch and only those who had made it up to the rank of E-5 or higher.

That's how Erik would run his bootcamp so none of the branches would see any other as weaker because they will all go through the same bootcamp but receive easier or more strict training once they get to their branch.

Erik called for a meeting of the most renowned warriors in the clan to start training them in the way of the soldier.
