As everyone sat down in order to be lower and show respect to Glis, Theo questioned why they were sitting down. As Theo's confusion rose even more, Glis started to walk over towards Theo who was standing next to the log beside the fire. Her royal guard who went with her wherever she went followed.
She then sat down on the Log next to Theo. Everyone that was on the log immediately removed themselves from it and started to sit on the ground, but Theo was still standing, now, above everyone.
Everyone was in awe, seeing Theo still standing, metaphorically and literally. The guard saw Theo still standing and went over to him. He got right next to Theo's ear. "You wanna die brat!? Get on the ground and respect her majesty?!" The guard said. Theo was expecting a whisper, but the yelling ringed his eardrum. He wasn't in the pleasant mood he was before anymore.
Theo looked in the face of the guard with a murderous glare. "Huh?" Theo said. Then quickly realized the position he was in. "And what if I don't sit down. What are ya gonna do about it?" Theo said with a taunting tone in his voice.
"Do you not know who you're messing with?! Her majesty is the princess of the great Tojo Kingdom of the Flat Plains region. It is ranked the highest behind the Kyanthis and Valhalla kingdom in all of this region! Do you think you stand a chance arguing with us!?" The guard said, yelling again in the face of Theo.
"Tojo?? Do you know who I am?! I am the--" Theo was once again interrupted by Leo, who was sitting away from everyone leaning on one of the carts. "Sit down Theo..." Said Leon, still looking in the opposite direction of Theo.
Leon now had a hint of respect for Theo, seeing how he wasn't fully like other royals. He was a bit of a maverick who did his own things, not letting anyone stop him. Leon didn't want Theo to suffer a beat down here.
"Why would I listen to you!?" Theo said, slightly angry. Theo noticed that Leon was still not directly looking at Theo. He hadn't looked at Theo even once. For the first time, Leon tilted his head and looked at Theo straight in the eyes. His eyes were a deep emerald color.
"Sit down," Leon said with a calm expression. 'He just looked at me, does this mean he trusts me now? Why is he trying to help me?" Theo sat down on the floor and started to eat aggressively.
'Why did I listen to that bastard?? Well whatever, avoiding conflict is best for now I guess. I still have many restrictions and am not free to do whatever I want just yet, I need to become stronger.'
Leon then closed his eyes and also started to eat.
Everyone had been looking back and forth in the talk between Leon and Theo now they looked at them eating out of nowhere as if nothing happened.
Seeing Theo sit down, the guard attempted to give him a punch to the stomach for a little lesson. He was stopped however by Glis. "Stop it Aldol, I don't want any more paperwork, let me eat in peace."
"But-- ...Yes your majesty..." Gadol said as he went back to standing next to Glis. Everyone continued to eat while talking quietly. After it became dark and the fire died out, people went back to their carriages to sleep.
As Leon was going inside his carriage, Theo stopped him. "Why did you tell me to sit back there? Was it to help me?" Said Theo. "No you idiot! I just don't like seeing someone get beat down in front of me... I would help anyone in that situation, don't think I did it because it was personal towards you." Said Leon, as he shrugged Theo's hand off and went climbed inside of the cart.
Theo stood there while Leon went inside. "Sheesh, what a pain in the ass..." He said as he stretched his arms and yawned. Theo didn't want to sleep, he was outside in the wild for the first time in his life, why would he waste this opportunity sleeping instead of exploring a little bit.
As he walked into the darkness, he started to venture into the forest. The trees were blocking all vision from the moon. As he wandered some more, he saw something flickering in the distance, they were like small lights turning on and off.
"Fireflies!" Theo said as he ran towards the light as quickly as he could. After running for a little bit, the forest opened up to a small area of land that was void of all trees. When he arrived there, he noticed that the lights had stopped. He could have sworn that he had seen the flickering lights coming from where he was.
Suddenly, Theo heard rustling in the bushes around him. Out of nowhere three wolves jumped out of the bushes and started to circle around Theo. 'Holy fuck I'm screwed' He thought to himself as he rotated himself and tried to keep an eye on all of the wolves.
They are absolutely ginormous, each being the size of an average adult human, and one quite a bit larger than the other two. Even in the darkness, Theo could see the veins popping out of the wolf's large muscles. A streak of sweat ran across Theo's back.
'What should I do?' Theo started to think of the most rational things to do in this situation. On earth, he had read articles on how wolves were quite slow compared to other animals, but they were still faster than any human. In addition, these weren't any regular wolves, they were wolves from a world unknown to Theo.
As the wolves closed in on Theo, something suddenly dashed in from the side and hit one of the wolves in the head. The wolf was knocked down onto the floor. On inspecting it from afar, Theo saw something familiar. It was an expensive-looking sword that was gouged into the head of the Wolf.
'Wait, isn't that?' Before he could finish his thought, another sword came from the same direction, hitting another wolf and knocking it dead. As Theo tried to figure out what was going on, he heard something in the distance.
"Oi, you idiot! Get away from the last wolf!" Said Leon as he came running from inside of the forest. Theo heard Leon's voice and immediately stepped back from the last wolf that was significantly bigger than the other two.
As Theo kept his eye on the big wolf, he saw Leon at the top of his vision, jumping down and into the battlefield. Leon jumped around the large wolf and grabbed both of his swords from the other two that he had shot down from afar.
Leon then jumped back and next to Theo. "Theo, I don't know how strong you are, or if you have any strength at all being a royal and all, but I cannot defeat this wolf alone... I need your help." Leon said as he looked Theo in the eyes.
"Why did you come to save me?" Theo said. Leon's eyebrows scrunched up at those words. "We don't have time for idle chatter! Will you help me defeat this thing or not?!" Leon said fiercely. "Well I don't have a choice, do I? If I don't help you I'll be dead myself!" Theo answered back.
"Good," Said Leon. In a short amount of time, Leon quickly told Theo what his plans were. After both of them nodded to each other in agreement, Leon quickly dashed behind the wolf. The wolf was confused about who to pay its attention to. It sensed a higher level of danger in Leon and turned its back to Theo.
Right after it turned its back, Theo ran up and punched the back of the wolf with all of his force. Because of the amount of muscle built up in the wolf's glutes, Theo's hands felt as though they had just hit a brick wall, but it was enough to make the wolf turn around once again.
The wolf quickly turned around and faced Theo. Seeing Theo completely defenseless, the wolf opened his mouth to attempt and bite Theo's head off. Taking this chance, Leon launched a fury of slashes to the back legs of the wolf, rendering the wolf immobile.
The wolf howled in pain as it turned its head around again towards Leon. At that point, it was too late. Leon was already next to the head of the wolf. A single slash to the throat and the wolf was instantly decapitated in the dead of the night.
Leon fell on his knees, stabbing the sword into the ground while trying to catch his breath. Theo was left staring at the sky where the wolf's head had been only a second ago. After a couple of minutes of silence, Leon started to head back to the camp, Theo followed.
"Okay now answer me, why did you come to save me? Didn't you hate royals like me or something?" Questioned Theo. Leon ignored the question. "That was a pack of Brute Wolves. They also had a pack alpha. A pack alpha is a much stronger beast of its own kind that becomes strong by living a long time and evolving into an alpha. The face we came out of that alive was due to sheer luck. If the wolf had made up its mind to kill one of us even once, we both would have been killed."
After talking about the wolf they had just fought, Leon dashed into the darkness, back to camp. Theo wanted to follow but had stopped due to the message in front of him.
