"First up to the ring, Theo and Hughes!" Greek yelled out. Theo wasn't expecting himself to be the first to fight, but it wasn't a horrible thing. Theo walked up and climbed into the ring. His opponent, Hughes was a blue mana potential student. Checking his stats, he was slightly stronger than Theo.
As the fight started, Theo ran towards Hughes, seeing as his main weapon was a bow. Close combat would help him drastically. Hughes was caught up in thought and wasn't expecting this. He was thinking where his opponent's weapon was, or if he had one at all.
Hughes came back to reality and stepped back before launching multiple powerful arrows that were infused with mana at Theo. The arrows were extremely fast, Theo could completely dodge all of them. He was scraped on his shoulders and legs but it wasn't critical.
As the pain started to kick in, Theo started to smile slightly. It was fun. Theo could feel his heart beating quicker and quicker. He could feel a rush he had never felt before. Hughes was flustered. His weapon hadn't worked out as he had wanted, but looking at Theo's wristwatch, he could see that Theo was only a green mana potential.
Theo had reached Hughes. He pulled out his rod from behind his ear and swung it towards his opponent. Hughes struck the rod with his bow. The impact caused both of them to get pushed back.
Because both of their weapons were of the basic rank, their strength was the factor deciding who's weapon was stronger overall. After that encounter, Hughes had gained some confidence. After Theo was far enough away, he launched a barrage of nonstop arrows.
Theo tried to defend the onslaught by using his rod to deflect the arrows and trying to dodge but it was no use. The arrows kept on scratching him and his health was declining quickly.
Theo didn't know what would truly happen if his health hit zero, but he wasn't about to sit around and find out. He knew that Hughes had to have almost depleted his stamina bow now, and before he could replenish it, Theo decided to end it here and now.
Theo had around half of his stamina left. As the barrage of arrows stopped and Hughes stepped back to regain his stamina, Theo started to concentrate mana to his feet. 'Streak Step' Theo thought to himself and stepped forward.
Instantly he was behind Hughes. As Hughes tried to turn around, a rod had already hit him in his rib cage. 'Shock Rod' Theo said to himself. Hughes went flying and hit the side of the ring before falling down and passing out.
Theo had almost no stamina by now. Everyone was shocked. Even Greek was speechless. The amount of speed that Theo had shown was very strong, it was of the advanced level. "Everyone else, I've shown you are partners on your wristwatch, go fight them in the rings," Greek said as he walked over to Theo.
Everyone was slightly confused but quickly got on to their fighting, they were also eager to test out their weapon. "Hey kid, where'd you learn to move so fast?" Greek said to Theo. "Oh, this? I just practiced it from a young age haha." Theo awkwardly laughed as he lied.
"Huh? Oh really? Well, let me see how fast it really is!" Greek said as he stepped into the ring. Theo still hadn't regained his health and stamina. "I'm still pretty hurt, I don't think I can-" Theo was cut off by greek.
"Don't worry about it kid, I'll fix that up for you," Greek said before closing his eyes and chanting something under his breath. Suddenly, a green around flowed out of his body wherever he walked. As Theo was close to Greek, the aura touched him as well. The green aura felt warm and comforting, before he knew it, Theo was already fully healed.
"You can fight now can't you?" Greek taunted.
"Of course, let's get this on," Theo replied with a smile on his face. Facing a stronger opponent was a good thing for Theo, it not only gave him more experience, but it also helped him gauge his own strength more.
Suddenly, Greek had seemingly teleported in front of Theo. Theo quickly took out his rod as Greek started to let out a barrage of punches. Theo could tell that the speed and power of these punches were being held back drastically, but it was still quite tough to defend against it. Greek was testing Theo as he had found interest in him.
Theo managed to block every attack as it got faster and faster. Finally, Theo noticed Greek pulling his arm back, which meant that Theo could tell he was going to attack, but for some reason, it was too fast to dodge even though Theo knew it was coming.
Theo could tell that this punch was stronger and faster than the rest, he needed to dodge this or his life could have been in danger. If he tried to block it with his rod, he had a feeling that his rod would easily break.
The punch came at him at a menacing speed, after it got too close, Theo used streak step to dash behind Greek, it was his only option. Theo then swung his rod at Greek's back using shock rod. Greek however had already turned around, and grabbed the rod, absorbing all of the impacts in his palm. A loud bang could be heard. As Theo fell to the floor from exhaustion, a little bit of smoke came out of Greek's palm.
"Advanced indeed," Greek said before jumping out of the ring and going to check up on the other students. After resting a little bit, Theo looked over to Leon who had just started his match, Leon ended it with a single dash. He wasn't very powerful when it came to stats but his experience was like he had been fighting for years.
Theo was happy that he had Leon his friend. If they were to come into a dangerous situation together, Theo could rely on Leon having his back. After watching Leon a little bit more, he realised how far he truly was behind. Although his stats were close to Leon, he still lacked a lot of experience.
After combat class, it was time for lunch. Theo and Leon headed to the canteen together. Once arriving, Theo noticed that the canteen was a large place with tables spread out equally to give a lot of freedom to move around. He liked the atmosphere quite a bit.
As the both of them got their lunch and sat down on one of the round tables, Theo noticed that there was a diversity in the students. A hierarchy had already started to form on the first day of school.
Theo saw that those that showed different mana potencial colors on their wristwatches' sat together separated from the other colors. People gave weird looks to Leon who was a blue color sitting with a green, but Leon didn't seem to mind. The food was quite nice, it wasn't as amazing compared to what he had back at home but it was definitely up near there.
As lunch ended, their school day ended as none of them had picked their electives yet, and they were free to roam the school or go out and do as they please. Theo decided to immediately go into the library. He had seen many system novels, and if his knowledge proved him true, going to the library couldn't be a bad thing.
Leon however decided to go and train somewhere else, although he asked Theo to come along, Theo felt that it was more important trying to learn some things at the library first. Theo arrived at the library that was connected to the school. It was absolutely ginormous. Going inside, Theo noticed round and square tables where people were sat reading and books galore all throughout the walls.
Theo went straight over to the "Combat" Section. This section held books about sorcery and melee. He picked up a random book and opened it.
A grin appeared on Theos face. He scanned the book, but was left quite disappointed. The scan only gave him a brief description of the books contents. He then went around scanning other books only to get no result. He had a sneaking suspicion in his mind that this would be the case.
Theo wanted to be able to gain multiple skills just by scanning the books, but that was a bit unrealistic. There were rarely any skill books in the library, and even when reading them he couldn't unlock the skill.
Although he was disappointed, in the end he gained some basic knowledge about combat, which wasn't horrible. As he hadn't wasted too much time in the library, Theo decided to go to where Leon was asking him to go only an hour before.
Leon said it was something along the lines of a "training room."
