Chereads / IAN'S SECRETARY, NADIA'S BOSS / Chapter 7 - CHAPTER Six - ARRIVAL

Chapter 7 - CHAPTER Six - ARRIVAL

Nadia was ready to call a cab. She finally had a job after quitting her old one just a month ago.

She counted herself among the lucky ones.

Working for a multibillionaire whose estates were cars, houses, shippings, breweries, hotels and so on and so forth she couldn't hide her satisfactory smile.

A personal secretary was no easy job.

She will be having dark circles again in no time but she didn't care.

If she cruise half of the world in a private jet, eat from famous five star Michelin restaurants, bed at five star hotels, "BINGO" she was up for it.

She laughed.

Then she remembered she had to wait. A call from this billionaire's head guard had come through.

He was picking her up.

Her investigate part had sprung to action and she knew that she was going to be interrogated in the hour and few minutes drive.

"Passing the preliminaries was easy"

She had overheard some of the conversation between some applicants.

"But the main interview is the unsmiling guard and then the boss."

She was hopeful but truly nervous.

She grabbed a cup of coffee and sat in the lobby.

Whatever happens, she had passed the preliminaries and that was good.

She assured herself.

She raised the cup of coffee to her lips, pausing before taking her first sip to enjoy the scent of the rich coffee beans.

The interview had been quick and thorough and they didn't wait for long before she was announced as the person who passed.

She was going to the billionaire's house today as well. It seems he needed a secretary asap.

She had heard rumours of a handasome chap he was.

She only knew his name. Ian D. Faurot. What the D. meant, nobody actually knew. Anyway, she'll what type of person he was, whether to believe the rumours or not, she'll have to wait and now she was getting impatient.

The sun was soon to set and the so-called head guard hadn't arrived.

She stood up and looked at her watch.

She turned towards the door and saw a thin, tall and handsome chap enter. She dropped her jaw open and suddenly closed her mouth when she realised she was gaping.

The man had a brief discussion with one of the judges.

The judge who his showed unpleasantness towards her. She had thought she was going to be disqualified for sure.

After a brief discussion, he walked towards her. His strides long and calculating.

"You must be Nadia"

He said smiling thinly.

"Yeah"

"Good. Follow me" He motioned with his hands towards the door.

She'd never seen teeth look dazzling. Especially for a guy. Seriously. She was mesmerised and he also smiled at her. 'Good help me' she whispered.

Maybe it was false pretense only to get her when she was off guard.

Realising he had spoken to her, Nadia looked up to gaze guiltily at him.

"I asked you to follow me."

"Of course." she replied and followed him to the sleek Lhamborghini Urus.

She'd seen one on her trip to Africa. She wandered if the car was cheap now.

She sat with him at the shot gun seat and he drove away.

****

I'm Simon Graham. Call me Simon.

Nadia nodded. She didn't want her annoying tongue to get in the way today.

She was going to listen and answer only when she had to. No more, no less.

"I don't have to ask questions since I believe Mr. Wilson has already asked all of them."

Nadia said nothing so he continued.

"The contract you'll sign is in the resident office. You'll read through and when you are okay with the terms which I believe you will, then you sign.

I'll do you a favour and give you a tour when we get there."

Nadia was confused. This clearly shows the rumours were lies. Or could it be she was drawing conclusions too quickly?

She still had to keep her guard up. She wasn't going to let things backfire.

It was always good to belittle things when your hope for them are unusually high to minimise the disappointment.

Thats what she had to do. Observe and talk less.

The car stopped in front of long iron gates an hour later.

Simon spoke to someone on his walkie talkie before the gates opened.

The drive to the main house took about five minutes. They passed finely trimmed trees and quarters before they finally stopped in front of the house.

Nadia was awed but she tried her best not to show it. This was a palace.

Or was it a ranch? She's never been to one before so she couldn't tell and she hasn't seen animals yet.

So she was sticking with 'palace'

A grande grande building this was. Whatever the contract was, she was going to sign it.

'Don't be drawn by appearances'

Why did this quote her dad used to say just pop into her head? She was surprised that she even remembered that.

She was going to read the contract word by word before she signed.

There was no way in hell she was going to sell her soul to the devil.
