Chapter 10 - CHAPTER Nine - OTHER THINGS TO DO

Ian stood over Nadia. His hands in his suit pockets. His godly chiselled face relaxed. Physically or outwardly, it appeared so but he was mesmerised.

The petite woman silhouetted against the bench was beautiful.

Ian had seen a lot of beauties in this lifetime but Nadia was beautiful in her own way.

Her relaxed face to the overflowing locks of hair on her shoulders defined a level of smartness.

She was pure and had a going attitude.

Her small features were breathtaking. She had her eyes closed tightly like she was preventing the bright rays from stealing their way into her, or she was having a daydream.

His gaze travelled her silhouette and back to her face.

He looked at her closed eyes.

He had seen her eyes before. A set of deep brown eyes characterised by long dark lashes brushing against her lower lids.

His gaze travelled slowly to her nose and rested on her pouted lips.

An exquisitely sculptured lip, rose red and full.

'Was this girl trying to tease him?' because he could feel desire pooling way down low, down there.

Ian took a breath and decided against waking her.

He looked at the vast land in front of him and back at Nadia and walked back into the house.

There was no way he was going to allow his demon, no matter how starved he was to take over his common senses. Never, but this was the first time in a long time he has had desire pooling down for someone.

A feeling he dreaded after an incident years ago.

He has since prioritised his companies over any other thing. He was not going to allow this same feeling bite him twice.

He knew he was not going to get over the disappointment and shock though it already been a while. Ever.

And then again, once bitten twice shy made you a complete idiot and he wasn't an idiot.

Ian sat behind his desk and opened his laptop to check and reply to unread emails. He had a business deal soon and he had to fly out of the country for a few days again.

He replied to an email from Nicolyn Brown, his representative in Spain.

He was going to expand his business there and had earlier purchased some lands.

He needed the manpower but suddenly, the previous land owner was claiming the lands again.

Nicolyn had been up on her feet for about a month trying to come to an agreement with this man but the situation was not being settled.

Ian decided to go there and do it his way, not because Nicolyn Brown wasn't trustworthy or couldn't handle the job well, but the man was being extremely stubborn and tough and his plans were being dragged. His competitors were pulling the strings.

His tension was seriously rising.

He called his overseas lawyers and had a conference with them via zoom. Some were not fully awake but they had to participate or they were getting fired.

After the call, he sent a message to Simon.

'THE SECRETARY YOU BROUGHT IS SLEEPING. COME HERE AND WAKE HER UP OR WE ARE FLYING TO SPAIN WITHOUT HER.

His phone dinged a minute later.

I' LL BE THERE TO WAKE HER UP. ASAP.

NADIA

Nadia opened her eyes and jolted upright. She looked at her wristwatch and let out a long sigh of relief.

She had five more minutes to tidy up and head back to the office.

She stretched her arms and yawned, cracked her knuckles and straightened her skirt. She picked her coffee cup and tray and went inside.

After disposing the items in her hand, she heard a light knock on her office door and Simon poked his head through it.

"Can I?" he asked casually.

Nadia nodded.

"Did you just come back? I was told you were sleeping on the balcony." he said it jokingly.

Nadia laughed lightly and frowned.

"The boss saw me?"

Simon nodded. "I just relaxed a little but I guess I dozed off."

"It's no problem since it was your recess."

"Yeah it was." Nadia replied. She walked to her desk and sat down. Simon sat across her and stared straight at her. Nadia stared back.

'Was he trying to flirt with her?' by the way he was looking at her? Nadia had never lost a staring battle. Not even once as far as she could remember and she didn't want to lose this one either but she was intimidated.

Sitting across this handsome man was turning into what she didn't want it to turn to.

She began to dread proximity with the boss himself beacause truth be told, Ian was angelic.

She felt excruciating pain in her left leg and only managed to say a silent "ah" and shut up before Simon got wind of what was going on.

She had stepped on her feet with her heel whilst trying her best to not stay intimidated.

'Really? Was this happening to her?'

Maybe she wasn't as immune to handsome boys, No, men as she thought. She wanted to smack her face a few times to wake up and tell herself she was here for work.

Simon suppressed his laughter and smiled at her.

'Was she being stupid or was she extremely intimidated?'

"Did you step on your feet?"

Nadia widened her eyes.

"A good number of ladies had done that before." he said whilst standing. "I'm sorry but why do you all always choose your feet to suffer when you feel you are under some scrutiny and pressure?

Get something to treat it before it swells. I'll see you in Spain."

He said and winked. As he walked out, he had a wide grin on his perfect face.

Nadia swallowed a few times and looked at her feet. The place she stepped on was now red and starting to swell.

She had to apply ointment quickly or she'll have a hard time walking if some time passed.

Her pure uptight life was about to get ruined. She knew that for sure.
