Chereads / IAN'S SECRETARY, NADIA'S BOSS / Chapter 9 - CHAPTER Eight - UNUSUAL

Chapter 9 - CHAPTER Eight - UNUSUAL

Nadia sat in the back parlour of the big house overlooking the perfectly trimmed trees and grass, absorbing the peace it brought whilst munching some doughnuts and sipping coffee.

From where she sat, she could she a few quarters but hadn't particularly seen anybody.

Did people even live there or were the houses storages for his goods.?

She had an hour everyday to take a break and she had chosen the back parlour. The scenery had caught her attention since she came and she had decided to have her lunch there.

The place was serene and green. Perfect relaxation spot.

She sipped her coffee and relaxed into the bench she sat on. She let her mind roam.

She had graduated college and had passed excellently. She wondered which company to start her search from.

Few weeks later, she had calls coming from three companies that she should come for an interview.

She felt like someone was pulling the strings behind her back. Since she was left alone, she'd always had unexpected help about things she wanted but hadn't yet made actions towards.

In the beginnings it was like freeloading and she didn't patronize but since the help kept coming, she also decided to be the freeloader.

She didn't ask the secret helper to help anyway.

Keziah had denied it wasn't her when twice Nadia had mentioned it. She had even supported her to take the help. So it wasn't her. But who could it be?

Dressed in her usual neat suits, she had gone for all three interviews. She waited a few more weeks but none called her back for the job.

Guess the 'secret helper' had other plans.

She searched for another job and ended at 'THE CARLINGS', her former job. She was hired as the secretary to the boss and had familiarized herself with the place and her job in a few days.

She was starting to enjoy her work life until Magaret had arrived with her kids.

Nadia who had a special place for children had thought she could get along with these children but she was totally proved wrong.

Her amazingly exciting work life had drastically moved from that stage to a dreadful hell with those children around.

For whatever reason her boss had also started acting cold towards her.

Magaret will never stay at home. She attended lavish parties every day and had left the children in her husband'd care.

Who else was there to take care of them? HER.

She had to do all the job.

She was the babysitter now. On days when the couple had fights, her anxiety and nervousness grew.

She always beared the brunt.

She had still patiently managed for three years. It was enough.

She looked at her cold coffee in hand and set it on the table beside her. She had solemnly vowed not to overwork again.

When things start getting rough, she would quit.

Thanks to her mom, she was getting the grasp of fashion. She could do other things as well.

She just wished this man didn't have a jealous girl friend or kids who will make her life hell again.

The place was so serene, she began to doze.

******

Ian had left his office and settled in the library behind a stack of books.

One thing he enjoyed doing when he couldn't think clearly was to read. He had little time to read the whole day but things have been hectic recently.

When he was in Africa, he had gotten information from his overseas executives that a member or precisely a manager of one of his companies in Argentina had embezzled money.

His money, and had that branch almost reaching bankruptcy.

He had to leave everything and come back.

Ian for sure hated the media getting in the way of his business. He had chosen an isolated land to build his current residence.

In other parts of the world, his residence were located at almost the same areas.

He also stayed at hotel penthouses.

He avoided the media and paparazzi at all costs and so to prevent the media from getting hints of the current situation of his company, he had worked tirelessly and effortlessly to stable his company again and he had wrapped it up perfectly yesterday.

The media had gotten whiff though but he solved it in time before it ejaculated. Thank goodness.

Right now, all he needed was a good rest but he just couldn't sleep. He had tossed and turned the whole night so he decided to read today.

He flipped through a few finances management books and placed them back on the shelf.

His mind wandered to his new Personal Assistant. The sharp tongue girl he bumped into in Ghana. He recognised her for sure.

Ian didn't talk much.

He only talked when it was an important information but unless, he was very conserved.

During meetings with CEO's of his companies, he seldom spoke. Sometimes he never spoke at all.

He always emitted cold aura and the managers knew better than mess things up but today, he had talked more than his usual.

It was unusual for him.

In his situations and perfectly planned estimations, he was wary of the source that made him act unusually.

This was no exception. He has crossed path with Nadia once and now she was his PA.

Ordinary people would say it was 'destiny'. Destiny his foot.

He interlocked his fingers and brushed his thumb over the other. He did that when he was regarding a difficult subject.

He stood and walked to the door.

He had things to tell her. He normally would have summoned her to his office but he was going to her. By himself.

A repulsive force washed over him and he stopped. He deliberated over his actions and walked out of the library.

He went to his office and glanced towards hers but she wasn't there.

The clock on his wall told him it was lunch so she probably went out. That lunchtime break was designed for his own benefit but his PAs enjoyed it more.

He relaxed into his chair and summoned the butler, Jonas, into his office. Jonas entered and curtsied.

Jonas was one of his trusted workers. He's worked for him for ten years. He was like a father figure to him since his own family treated him like an outsider.

No, they'll definitely regard an outsider over him.

"Jonas have you seen the new secretary?" he asked cautiously.

"She's at the back parlour."

"Thank you."

He said and dismissed him. Jonas opened his mouth to say something but closed it again before any word could come out. He turned and walked out of the office.

Ian had purposely avoided asking Simon the whereabout of the new girl and Jonas had been aware.

After Jonas left, Ian walked to the back parlour and walked towards the relaxed body slamped against a bench.

His breath caught and he just looked at her.

His godfather had advice him that if he wanted success, he shouldn't be caught in head lights but he just realised it wasn't easy not to be caught

Because right now, he was a deer caught in headlight.
