Nadia stepped out of the car and followed Simon into the main house.
She had noticed a few houses on the short drive.
Maybe it belonged to his staff. They walked the marble stairs into the house.
Inside was magnificent. The hall they stood was so big, a ball for dukes and duchess across the globe could be held in it.
The end of the room was connected with spiral.
If she had ever been to a place that amazed her, this amazed her more.
She crossed her hands at the back and scanned the room.
Simon gave her some time and then ordered her to follow him.
"Welcome to FAUROT. I'll give you a tour."
Nadia had that confused look again. "Shouldn't I sign the contract before that?"
"Like I said, you'll eventually accept the offer so I'll give you the tour and you can start work tomorrow."
"That's bold" she followed him.
The house was big she noted and finely cleaned. She wondered whose job it was to keep the place all sparkly.
That must be a lot of work. She muttered under breath.
She followed Simon and took mental notes of all the rooms they entered and their purposes. She didn't have to be told twice of the numerous rooms.
Thanks to her IQ. A few times, she asked questions which Simon did well to answer.
He was far from the gossip and that made Nadia think of what the boss too will be like.
She now understood that this was just his resident but he mostly prefered working from here and only went to the main office when there was a problem to solve.
So far there weren't any pictures of him hanging from walls or in corners or scattered around like Margaret's husband did.
Someone who hated the spotlight. Probably.
The books were arranged with expertise in the library. She was very impressed.
"There are a few more rooms to go. We can end today if you are tired."
Simon stated after he closed the library door.
"Please." Nadia said. Simon looked amused.
"Your office is this way" he gestured with his hands for Nadia to follow.
"And that will end my tour today. The butler will show you tbe rest tomorrow."
The office was big, spacious and airy.
Files were neatly arranged on shelves. A desk stood at one corner with a swivel chair neatly tacked behind it.
"Welcome to your office"
Simon voiced. She saw a recliner. What? The secretaries had a recliner? That is perfectly amazing. She thought.
Her office was ajoined to another office which looked bigger with a glass frame.
'That, probably will be the boss' office 'she thought and then Simon voiced it out as though he was in her mind.
"That's Mr. Faurot' s office. He likes to keep an eye on his assistants. He fears you'll slack off."
Nadia frowned.
A door connected her office to his. Well, she liked everything so far.
Her eyes wandered to the brown envelope on her desk.
" That's the contract?"
" Yes. There is a card in it. You can call that lawyer to explain things to you"
Nadia sat at her desk and read a few pages of the contract.
"You can take it home and carefully read through. I'll have a guard drop you off. "
She put the papers back in the envelope and stood. She will probably start tomorrow.
*****
Nadia picked a cab the next morning and by eight in the morning, she was at her new work place.
She had used almost half of the previous night to read through the contract.
She understood the conditions and didn't need a lawyer for any explanation.
She had called Karen and Kez before she finally slept.
She sat at her desk and wondered where the boss was. Simon had showed her every room she could enter and had introduced her to the staff.
That is, those who were allowed to stay in the main house. The butler, Jonas and Marie, the elder woman who prepared his meals.
So she knew what to do. The rest of the staff came to work in the house when Ian wasn't around and left before he came.
He didn't like bumping into them.
And if he ever did, you were fired.
Nadia leaned into her office chair and closed her eyes lettong her fancy roam....
A guard opened the door of her limousine and she stepped out of it. Cameras started clicking as soon as she stepped out of her car.
She walked towards her company, the paparazzi almost blinding.
She was famous.
Owning five star hotels in almost half of the world, dealer in real estates and cars, people couldn't get enough of her. Her picture was everywhere across the globe....
Nadia opened her eyes and glanced around aware her imaginations had been invaded by a soft rapping on her door.
Before she said any thing, a man walked into the office followed by Simon.
Without as much as a sideways glance, he ordered in a sexy baritone voice
"Come to my office"
Nadia nodded and followed.
He sat at his desk before looking straight at Nadia. Nadia's eyes went wide. They could have popped from their sockets.
"Oh no no no"
She muttered under her breath.
"Are you cursing in my office?" he questioned. Nadia smiled thinly and swallowed. GULP
"No."
Oh how she wanted the ground to open at that moment and swallow her up. In fact, swallow the whole place up.
Her silent prayer was invaded by that sexy baritone voice again.
"You are the one who qualified?"
He asked that question with nonchalence as he scrutinised.
"Yes"
She smiled with satisfaction which got her a disapproving look. His face was hardened and unsmiling. One he normally kept. The type that tells you to keep yourself at bay.
"Your car is outside"
Simon handed her the keys.
"Car?" she asked confused. "Oh" she remembered a clause it the contract which stated she was going to get a car. She nodded.
"How many years of experience do you have?" Ian asked.
"Four"
He looked at Simon and said. "Wilson should have sent someone with ten years of experience who is well vexed with the job. He always sends these few years experienced people who only cause trouble."
"Give her a try out." Simon said.
"You'll have to prove your worth. I tire PAs quickly especially if they dont work to my standard."
Nadia felt insulted.
This man could talk. 'Just look at him' she thought.
She was the best student in her class. She graduated with absolute perfect grades.
She's had four years of experience already at her age and this man just told her, not directly though that her results wasn't impressive.
Whoaa
Lady Justice wanted to surface but her mom had taught ber to mind ber P's and Q's. She was going to heed her mom's advice today.
Actually, she didn't want to be fired from her first day at work.
She's already had a bad impression with Ian and if this handsome man was human, he wouldn't like her.
Damnit. She seriously had to guard her tongue today.
"I agree with you"
[She wasn't going to let him take all the credit]
"PA's only have one job to do and that is to be PAs."
Ian and Simon looked at her. Simon wanted to hide his amused face but that could not escape the eagle eyes of Nadia.
"So I'll do a perfect job."
She had thr urge to tell him how she survived working like a Japanese machine but she forced it down and forced a smile which didn't reach her eyes.
"Brief me on my schedules in an hour."
He said and waved his hands to dismiss her. She nodded and left the office.
She sat at her desk and inhaled sharply. How dare he disregard her hard earned experiences.
She was going to work hard to prove him wrong.
She turned to the computer on her table and set about her task of arranging schedules.
A few calls that came through were answered and forwarded to Ian of they needed his attention.
A little now and then she would look towards his office but he was buried in his own thing and didn't even glance her way even once.
What did she expect.
Before noon, she had arranged his weekly schedule thanks to the tip from the previous secretary.
Nadia whispered a tgank you and smiled at herself with satisfaction.
She looked into his office but he wasn't there. Maybe he went for his lunch without inviting his PA.
Such manners.
She stretched and cracked her knuckles.
