Nadia Gift Kent needed to find another job as soon as possible. She absolutely hated her current job.
She had to wake up early to catch the morning bus so she arrived at her job early and she will say she was the last person to go back home every night.
The lack of sleep was evident with the big dark circles around her eyes that looked like a panda's.
In the three years she's done this job, it was her monthly salary that kept her going but this time she was determined to quit.
She preferred to stay alive than die from the stress and tiredness.
She sighed for the fifth time that morning and stared into nothing.
As much as she hated her job, she hated her boss' wife, Magaret, more.
She often made her do jobs which wasn't in her contract and then fumed like a bull if Nadia failed to do it well; like babysitting the kids.
Never in her twenty-five years of living did she ever think that babysitting kids could be as annoying as hell.
She hadn't been there before though.
Her boss' demons as she normally addressed the kids when she was having one of her talk-to-yourself times, were the most arrogant and disrespectful kids she had come across.
She was still in her reverie when she heard her name which made her jump.
She had to use her quickest reflexes to stop the tea tray and rhe coffee cup on it from falling.
"What do you think you are doing?"
Magaret questioned with a disgusting look pasted on her big moon face.
"I just wanted to grab a cup of coffee before beginning today's tasks"
"You should earn that cup of coffee. Now please put my cup down and get out of my kitchen. This is not your work area."
Nadia dropped the tray on the kitchen table carefully, turned to look at Magarer one last time and walked out of the kitchen.
She has had enough. Her mind was finally made up.
Nadia entered the small room she used as an office and searched through her bag.
She retrieved an envelope and without waiting even for a second to pause and breath, she walked out and knocked on her boss' office door.
He grunted and she walked in.
"My wife was looking for you and also, send me fifteen copies of the documents I emailed you"
He said without looking up. That morning, for a brief second, just a brief second, Nadia had hesitated but this time, she was booming with confidence and annoyance.
A cheek of a man who could not smell the air. She laid the envelope in front of him.
"This is my resignation letter."
His face was grim.
"Please process it within the week"
With that, she turned around and walked out of the office.
As she looked out the window of the bus she was riding in, she couldn't help the strong wave of jealousy that hit her.
Jealousy was that feeling she hardly felt but these days, she couldn't help it.
She was jealous jealous when she saw someone smile and wondered what that person was smiling about.
She felt jealous when she saw a happy puppy with a group of kids in the park.
She felt jealous when she saw a young man pick up a young lady in his car. She felt jealous about these little things and again she was jealous of VIP clients in a mall now.
Her friend Keziah who lived a few blocks away was a VIP client in most of the malls in the area.
Arghh she couldn't be jealous than that.
She felt disgusted that was even jealous of her closest friend but she couldn't stop it.
Today, she had to feel these uneccessary emotions so that she could start over anew tomorrow.
Nadia was a half breed and that made for her curvaceous body which she inherited from her African mom and which she liked to hide in baggy clothes.
She had thick brown eyes which was characterised by her long lashes giving her eyes that sexy appearance.
Her hair was shiny black and curly like her dad's.
Her skin was perfectly tanned and smooth. She knew it, but gave less attention to them. She shut her eyes tight took a deep breath and opened them.
Nadia threw her bag on her bed when she entered her room and took out her phone.
Maybe a little vacation will calm her down and help her focus.
She dialed her mom's number and sat on her bed.
"Hey mom"
"Hey darling, what's up?"
Her mom was excited.
"Mom, I'm coming for vacation. I miss you and I also turned my resignation letter in today"
"I knew something was wrong today but you did good. You've done your best sweedy, cheer up. So when are you coming?"
"Next week. I'll book a flight within the week as I wait for him to process the resignation"
She sighed.
"Alright dear, I'll see you next week. Grandma will be excited to see you but prepare yourself well before you come. Its been a while since you came to Africa."
"I sure will. Love ya. Bye"
Shw dropped her phone on her bed and changed into her pajamas, tonight she was going to skip bathing.
