Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

Alexa

What in the freaking hell was I thinking when I kissed him? He probably thinks that I am a desperate maniac, she thought, walking from one side of her bedroom to the other, well, of course he kissed me on the forehead, but maybe it's probably to get inside my head and haunt my dreams which he had already succeeded in doing but still! What am I going to do?

Of course, she can't deny the attraction she felt for him. It was something stronger than what she felt for Bryan. Bryan, who's name she couldn't even think about without feeling hollow was gone, replaced by Michael.

She really needs to stop thinking about him. True though sometimes he was an arrogant jerk, but just as Sofia said, he had a good heart.

But it won't do her any good to fall for a guy whose mother was good enough to provide her a temporary place to stay which she had begun to call home.

She headed towards the kitchen to make her favourite jelly to be met by Michael. He was there with ingredients to make the toast she made him the other day but boy was he lost. He was scratching his head not knowing what to do.

"Stupid cooking!" he grumbled under his breath, muttering curses which would have probably given Sofia a heart attack. She couldn't stop herself from bursting out with laughter.

"Oh yeah, keep on laughing. Glad to be your entertainment," he said, without turning. "Can I have a little help here?"

"Yeah sure, what do you want me to do?" She imitated the same way Michael did when they first met.

He smirked, "How about a kiss to motivate me?" She grew red as a tomato that he roared with laughter.

"Just bring me a toast. I will be in my room. Got some work to do." And with that he went, smirking.

She sighed.

Michael

She doesn't even know how much control she has on me. It was not as if she was my mate or anything but he couldn't shake off the feeling either.

"Hey dad, how's the training going?"

"Not that bad, son. The youngsters are catching up," came the reply from the other side of the phone.

"You okay? You sound tired dad. You know that I can train them," he said.

"No, no son. I need you there. Anyway, how's my niece. Mom told me that you are growing the hots for her," said Mr. Greymund.

"Oh, mom wish," he said, god, can't they ever keep a secret from one another?

"Anyway, I think it is time to tell her the truth."

He was so shocked that he almost dropped the phone. "But dad, no way. She'll probably leave us."

"Better to tell who she is before she leaves here and walk into her death." He started to protest but he knew that his dad had a point.

"Okay," he said and cut the line. How can he start that conversation? She will hate him forever but he knew that she was suspecting herself already thanks to his friends. He was dragged into reality when there was a knock on the door.

"Hey," said his angel, "Your toast and tea."

"Oh, thanks," he took it from her and kept on debating with himself when Sofia called.

She smiled with him and sped down the stairs, "Coming mom."

He smiled. She had come to ask him whether it was okay to call Sofia mom and why not, he had thought, it's not as if I'll let her walk out of my life.

Alexa

After weighing the pros and cons, she decided to go to the meat shop and talk with the young girl there who had always smiled with her when she was going to the garage. She had grown used to the boys that she felt lonely without them. Sometimes Sofia would also come but mostly it was just her.

She didn't know how she knew that that was the shop, but she felt certain that it must be it. She tried to go during the day time, but mostly it was close or bustling with people.

Once she found out that there were no people and tried to go inside when a guy had walked up to her. He was tall with dark brown hair and was having a sly smile on his dark, handsome face. He'd have looked nice if not for the cold look in his dark eyes.

"Hey beautiful," he said, smiling. The smile a snake gives its prey before the strike.

"Just leave me alone," she said and tried to go around him when he got hold of her.

She was just going home after spending the lunch time with the guys. She yanked her hand away.

"Oh, don't be so rude. Why don't you come to my place and have some fun?"

She got so angry that she saw red. She felt blood rushing in her ears. And suddenly everything focused. She saw him coming from the right. She ducked towards the left and punched him in the gut. But that didn't seem to affect him at all. He just smiled at her and swung his fist. She tried to prevent the blow but he just punched her in the ribs which made all the air rush out from her lungs.

"Don't make it so hard on yourself, darling. Just a little fun. You wouldn't regret it."

"No, I would never," she said and did something that even stunned her more than the guy. She hissed.

The shock turned to gleeful laughter, "Knew you were one of them."

What? She was still thinking about what he said that she lost focus and didn't see the blow till she was flying backwards, the wind rushing in her ears. She knew that her nose was broken.

Suddenly she was caught by someone. She couldn't register who he was before he rested her on the floor and growled at her attacker. He pounced on him and they fought.

The guy was shocked to see Michael. They looked at each other for a moment but started to fight again, their eyes glowing a little but she forgot that detail when he hit her saviour. He hit Michael again and again but he stood. She never knew the strength of him than then. He was too strong and after a few minutes the other guy was bleeding.

Michael ran towards her, his face etched with worry. Without a word, he lifted her onto his broad shoulders and carried her towards his house. Since that day Michael became so overprotective that he decided to walk with her from the garage.

She smiled at the memory of him being so attentive when she was healing. He brought her soup, fed her, and took care of her.

Once he even slept on her couch. She knew he felt guilty and blamed himself for not saving her quickly. Though she tried to make up his mind it was no use.

That girl in the meat shop had called him and he had come as fast as he could. She healed quickly enough and though she declared that she felt okay, Michael insisted her not to go anywhere alone.

"Told you that you meant something more than a sister to him," said Chris, when he had come to drop her home.

Numerous times she had tried to ask what that guys meant but Michael would always change the subject. She knew he was hiding something but she couldn't get him to talk no matter how much she tried.
