Alexa
After making up her mind, she decided to go meet the girl in the meat shop that night. She tip toed down the stairs and slipped out.
She took a deep breath of the night fresh air and jogged down the street and thought about all the things that happened. Who is she? Was it too much for a girl who had lost her mother to ask for a normal life? But little did she know that she was far from normal.
The roads were silent with no soul in sight, she hummed a little tune to keep her spirits up till she came to the shop.
She walked inside and smiled with the girl.
"Hello ma'am," she said.
"Just call me Alexa."
She nodded and smiled, "I am Amy."
"Nice to meet you, Amy," she said, shaking their hands, "And thank you for telling Michael the other day."
She nodded, "Michael told me to watch you and tell him if something bad is going on. You are lucky to have a boyfriend like that."
Alexa blushed. "He's not my boyfriend and please Amy don't tell him I came here at this time of the hour."
"Well, it depends," she said in a small voice. Of course, she was frightened. No one liked to be in his bad book.
"I need answers to two questions," she said and waited till Amy inclined her to go on.
"Who's that guy who attacked me?"
Her eyes widened. "You can ask Michael," she whispered.
"Well, I did. He won't answer," she said, already starting to feel frustrated. He always diverted the question or distract her using his cocky smile.
"It's probably due to a reason," she didn't back down.
"But I need to know, please," said Alexa, her eyes pleading with her.
Amy sighed, "The guys told that you smell funny?"
Her eyes widened at that. How did she know that?
"I will take it as a yes and Alexa, that guy is not from around here. He is not in Michael's good book. And I don't have anything else to say. The other question?"
She wanted to ask about the smell thing but the look on Amy's face told that she won't say anything. These people really fear Michael.
"I want to meet Carole. Do you know her?"
Her doe eyes went wider than before, "Miss Carole is dead. She was murdered in her bed, day before yesterday. Nobody knows how she died. I am so sorry."
The colour drained from her face. Murdered? Just like her mother. "Did you see her dead body?"
She nodded. "What did she look like?"
Her eyes filled with tears as she said, " She was so pale, Alexa. As if there wasn't any blood. But there wasn't any bruise either." She blinked. "She was a very good person. She took me in, adopted me and saved me from my abusing father and brought me up like her own kid. And now she's gone." Her voice faltered and she gulped, trying to keep her tears from falling.
Alexa nodded in understand. She felt drowned and tired. "I know how it is like to lose a parent," she said, softly. "I better get going. Stay safe."
"You too, Alexa," she said, before disappearing into the back of the shop. She dragged herself out of the shop. She finally thought that she found some clue as to who these vampires were and her father. But all of it was for nothing.
Amy's voice kept repeating in her mind. Pale, murdered, no blood.
She froze as she saw the creature in front of her, all the thoughts running to the back of her mind.
