Bryan
A month has passed since he broke up with Alexa and started to live with Alyssa. He was surprised to find that she liked him even after he embarrassed her that day for Alexa.
Firstly, he felt guilty for using her to get to Alexa but being with her helped him a little to forget Alexa and he almost did forget her. Almost. Alyssa had declared that she liked him and he had also agreed to date her, it was about time he moved on.
She had provided him work in the company she also worked at, saying that they could be together all the time. She had done so much to him so why not give her a chance. Give them a chance. Then he had moved in with her and tried to be a good boyfriend that his girlfriend deserved.
All was going well until one time when he had woken up to find that the space next to him on his bed was empty.
Where was she? he thought.
He looked at the clock and saw that it was thirty minutes passed midnight.
How long was she gone? he thought.
He called for her and started to panic, fear rising in his chest, suffocating him. He was about to get the car keys to go to search for her when he heard the front door opening and got a whiff of her expensive perfume. He was about to question her when he thought against it. Something was off. There was something she was hiding. If she trusted him enough, she'd have told him. He didn't want her to know that he found out.
Then for the next few days this continued. He lay awake pretending to sleep and hear her going out. In the morning, she'd act as his loving partner and all lovey dovey while at night she leaves him all alone and going out to who knows where.
Was she seeing another boy? Was she cheating on him? Is the fate backstabbing him? He left Alexa for their own good, he thought, until he decided at last that he'd follow her.
That night he kissed her goodnight and waited till she pulled off her plan. He pretended to be asleep, slowing his breathing rate. He sensed her shifting beside him after a few minutes. He decided to open his eyes to a slit and watched as she dressed fully in black. Black coat, black jeans, black stop, black heels and blood red lipstick.
What's up with the dressing up? he thought, suspiciously.
Then without even sparing a glance she headed out and closed their bedroom door behind her. He gave her a five minutes head start and looked at the clock before heading outside, hoping against hope that this was a nightmare.
The clock read: 11:56 p.m.
He didn't bother to lock the house and looked at the figure of Alyssa growing smaller by the second.
Damn she's fast, he thought for the umpteenth time he'd been with her and followed her, crouching low. It was a dark night, the moon hidden behind the grey clouds.
Can she even see?
He followed her making much as less sounds as possible. Thank heavens besides the road they were surrounded by forests. She's a brave woman, he'd give her credit for that. She kept to the road until the last moment she turned and headed into the woods.
What the hell? he thought, and kept a twenty-foot distance between them as she headed to god knows where.
Crunch.
He stopped and dived behind a bush, but she only hesitated for a second and still kept on going. She probably thought that it was a night creature. Though the roads were silent, the forest was alive with all the sounds possible to give even a grown man chills. But she seemed unfazed.
Actually, she felt much comfortable according to her body language.
Something is really wrong here, he thought as he saw a hint of a clearing through the branches.
He climbed to a tree where he could get a clear view of the clearing but he was hidden well and the sight that met his eyes was beyond frightening.
It was filled with people with unnatural beauty, both men and women, wearing black and were they, his body turned cold, hissing? They were surrounding a massive pointed rock. He looked at his watch as Alyssa stepped towards the gathering.
12.00 a.m.
Midnight.
He distantly heard the sound of church bells as all the assembled monsters knelt.
Alyssa held her head high and climbed the magnificent rock, gracefully as the moon came into view.
"Rise," she said, as all of them bowed and rose.
His worst nightmare came true as he witnessed the scene before him....
"Did you fill them up?" She asked a blue haired girl who came to stand in front of her.
"Yes, mistress. I turned them and trained them. They are ready," she said and bowed.
Alyssa nodded.
"As you all know, this is the day that the master before our master was killed by one of those vampire hunters. This is the place where it happened, on this rock," she said as she knelt and caressed the rock. "This is where my grandpa was killed. And again, another one of my own parents, my beloved father was killed by another vampire hunter."
They all closed their eyes for a moment and even for him, he could feel the desperation, sadness inside some of their hearts.
"I killed her," she said proudly. "I killed the hunter who killed our master. I avenged my father's death. I killed Carole Jackson at last."
A moment of silence.
Then it was broken by the gleeful hisses. Bryan felt goosebumps breaking his skin.
Holy mother of Jesus! I broke up with a half vamp only to end up with the master of vampires who is also a murderer? he thought.
"I also have another good news," she said, while another silence settled in, "I have a stupid werewolf staying with me. That idiot is hopelessly in love with me. He was much easier to trick. I thought I'd probably keep him a prisoner but he's more fun this way. I'll declare war and send the note to those fur balls on next full moon. We are winning" she said and grinned, bearing her fangs, while all of them cheered. Bryan was so numb and shocked that he even forgot to breath.
She was using him?
All of a sudden, all the cheering died. He saw a tall woman with a little weight and long black hair with brown strands approaching the crowd. He couldn't shake off the feeling that he'd seen her somewhere before.
"Hope you have news, mere human," Alyssa said, while some of the vampires sneered.
She nodded, "That girl is with the Alpha of the eastern pack."
"The grandson of that vampire hunter who killed the master before our master?" asked one of the gathered.
The black-haired woman nodded, "I saw her going to his garage and she's living with him."
She cringed slightly as Alyssa glared at her.
"That betrayer to our own kind. Hooking up with the enemy. We'll kill her along with them. This war will wipe them and her from this face of the Earth." The others agreed.
I have to warn them, Bryan thought and got down from the tree.
He was so shocked by the whole event that he forgot to be quiet and stepped on a stick. The crunch that followed was deafening.
All of them paused and turned to look at him.
Then they hissed.
"Get him!" Alyssa yelled, furiously as he ran.
He could only curse as he shifted while he ran thanks to the full moon while all the vampires chased him…..
