Chapter 9 - Boswellia

"Drink it" Lenora ordered

"My Lady?" she panicked.

"Drink the blood!" she ordered.

Lenora couldn't understand how could Zaros be so stupid to send a dumb servant to make her suffer. She just added Boswellia in her drink.

Boswellia, a rare herb that is used to burn the Vampire's skin. If it was consumed by a vampire it could be fatal. If it was injected into the heart of a vampire, he would die. Adding that into the blood, now that was a stupid move.

"My Lady, this subject doesn't dare to drink the blood that is meant for you," Clara said.

"But you shouldn't disobey the orders of your Master," Lenora said.

"My Lady, A lowly subject like me should serve you not steal your delicacies," the maid said.

"Oh, really?" Lenora asked.

-----

On the other side…

"Queen Mother, My Lady plans to free her old subjects from the dungeon," a maid said. She was one of the maids from Lenora's chamber.

"Ohh… when?" Eudora asked, placing her book aside. The room glowed with candles, illuminating the whole study. Her eyes reflected the golden glow. The vampiress looked scarier than before under the light. Her cold voice made the maid flinch.

"After her coronation," she said.

"Celia… we will make a trip to her chambers," Eudora said, getting up from her seat.

"As you say, My Lady," she nodded.

"Let her rest from her duty," Eudora said, referring to the bird who got the news from Lenora's chamber.

The maid bowed and sprinted back towards her maid's quarters.

Meanwhile…

Eudora and Celia appeared in front of Lenora's chambers on the east side.

"Drink!" they both heard her voice from inside firmer and it held a kind of coldness which was unnoticeable yet scary. Eudora was surprised at her voice and behavior. She knew something was wrong. Celia was about to walk ahead but was stopped by Eudora. Celia curtsied herself and waited in the same spot along with Eudora hearing the conversation.

"My Lady, this subject doesn't dare to drink the blood that is meant for you," they heard a voice that was shivering slightly.

"But you shouldn't disobey the orders of your Master," Lenora's voice could be heard.

"My Lady, A lowly subject like me should serve you not steal your delicacies," they heard.

Eudora sneered at the maid's brainless action. She understood that the Maid was following someone else's orders and made a brainless mistake. Despite that, she decided to stay and see how Lenora was going to deal with that.

------

"Oh, really?" Lenora asked.

"Yes," Clara replied.

"But don't forget you are not stealing, I am handing it to you… willingly," Lenora said, getting up and moving to stand beside Clara. She placed her left hand on her shoulder.

"But I shouldn't drink what is supposed to be yours," the maid argued stubbornly.

"Are you not drinking it because you added Boswellia or are you really that loyal?" Lenora asked.

------

On the other side…

Eudora and Celia were shocked at the mention of Boswellia. They made sure no one grows or cultivates those herbs. Only in a certain part of the castle which was far away and was only in the control of Eudora… that herbs grew. Only the current king and herself have the power to enter there. But how could a mere maid get that? There must be someone who stole it or could it be that… Zaros wanted her dead?

But he couldn't be that stupid since the pact was going to be implemented soon. This must not be his work.

Eudora decided to investigate the truth to get the culprit out. It wasn't for the sake of Lenora but the sake of every vampire's well-being. If one could get the herb in some way then others could get it too. This shouldn't happen.
