Chapter 10 - The Vampire and Witch feud

"My Lady, This subject doesn't understand what you are saying. I am always loyal to my master," the maid said.

"And the Master is… the current king, Zaros Orpheus Velorine, right?" Lenora said, shocking Clara and the ones who were eavesdropping.

"My Lady, Please don't accuse the king. It's an unpunishable crime," the maid said.

"Really?" Lenora asked sarcastically, appearing in front of the maid out of thin air making her scared.

"Looks like I am too easy that you are forgetting who is your master," Lenora said.

Her eyes turned black as eternal darkness, the rims around her eyes popped out with green veins and her sclera turned bright red. Fangs elongated from her mouth scaring the lowly vampiress.

Lenora growled, producing an animalistic grunt. Before the poor maid could understand the situation, Lenora dipped her head in her neck and bit her jugular vein as she extracted the blood from her. Clara yelled in pain when she felt Lenora sucking her blood.

Eudora didn't expect that Lenora would become ruthless after two years of isolation. She was so ruthless that she wasn't sparing the low-level vampiress despite the rule that no vampire was supposed to kill a fellow vampire. Shaking her head vertically, she walked inside disturbing Lenora's feed.

"Enough!" Eudora's voice resounded in the room. But that didn't stop Lenora from feeding on the vampiress. Eudora was afraid that the vampiress maid would be sucked dry by her. Also, Eudora could feel a kind of aura around Lenora, which wasn't a good sign for her.

She looked at Celia, who immediately nodded her head to do the task for her.

A sudden force pulled Lenora backward, her back hitting the wall with sudden force. The porcelain vases broke and shards pierced into her back. Blood oozed out of her skin making her groan like an animal. Her red-rimmed eyes turned redder, her blood-red eyes were turning to an even darker shade. Her eyes flickered between the colors of hollow black and the red color, looking like a ferocious beast.

Eudora was stunned to see the change in Lenora like this. "Victoria," Eudora exclaimed.

Suddenly as if all the brakes were pulled, Lenora came into her senses. Her eyes turned normal.

"Queen Mother," Lenora bowed respectfully.

Eudora's eyes dimmed in disappointment. Why was Lenora behaving like Victoria? She now had the same craze and hunger as Victoria. As if both Victoria and Lenora were merged. If that was true, then the stunts pulled by Lenora would make sense to her.

"I will take care of the rest. You only need to be ready to get married," Eudora reminded her.

Eudora wanted her to drink blood by drying tens of humans. But that would provoke the ripper phase inside her. Eudora saw the ripper qualities in Lenora since she was a child. Once upon a time, the ripper side in her was provoked and almost made her go crazy. If Eudora hadn't controlled her and made her ripper disappear, Lenora would have turned into a blood-sucking beast.

Lenora just bowed, implying Eudora leave.

Eudora just shook her head and left the room dragging the disobedient maid along with her. She asked the Royal Investigation Bureau to take up the case. Clara was taken away by the bureau guards.

Despite everything, Eudora wasn't happy. She knows something has happened on that day two years ago. What exactly happened? It seemed as if Lenora wasn't aware of the things that happened that day. It meant only the people who were present that day could explain what truly happened. It meant only Victoria could answer. But she was dead already. Unless she resurrected and told them what exactly happened that day, consequences had to be given, unfairly or not.

Who could help her with this?

"I wish I could talk to Victoria. But she is dead. What to do?" Eudora muttered as she paced around in her room.

"A witch can help you, your highness," Celia said.

"A witch?" Eudora repeated.

"A normal witch cannot help us. Only a witch who can perform dark magic can help us. But they had been burned to death years ago. This isn't possible," Eudora muttered.

Celia lowered her head hearing her words. The witches were burned to death. But not all the witches. Indeed they were true, but not completely. Only witches who went against the vampires were burned to death. Not specifically the witches who performed black magic. The world viewed them as the witches who perform black magic but the insiders knew that only those who were against the vampires had been wiped.

The witches and the Vampires had an unwritten feud in their history. The vampires just hated the mere existence of the witches. When the first Vampire was made, the witches had a good relationship with them. But as days passed, they grew to hate them. The blood lust of the vampire turned intense and he once massacred the whole village. This action made the witches grow wary and hence distance themselves from the vampires.

From then, the witches vowed to clear all the vampires from the face of the earth. When the original Vampire heard of this, he went into hiding. But little did he know, when he killed people he left behind some of his vampire venoms in the bodies of five people, which turned them into vampires. The second generation of Vampires was cruel, also known as the originals of Vampire history entered the world. They created horror and terror in the world of humans and all other creatures. They couldn't be killed by anything. Witches tried every means to defeat them but they did not succeed.

The head witch spent centuries to find their weaknesses and wrote a book on Vampires. For many centuries, they still did not find any way to kill a vampire but they found ways to weaken them.

Boswellia, one of the most powerful divine herbs in the human world. According to the human lores, it was said that this herb could help them get rid of the demons. But in fact, this lore was spread to them by the witches.

Because witches were known to be protectors of nature. They sought help from one of the five elements to seek power and use them to maintain the balance of nature. But with the presence of Vampires, the balance was imbalanced.

To get back the balance, the main witch started her journey to find the weakness and the cause that can kill them. Years later… She found out about the Boswellia herb. Boswellia could burn their skin. If it was given or mixed in the food of vampires their hearts could be contaminated, soon leading to their death.

When the High priestess (The leader of the witch Coven) returned with her findings, she found out that the number of Vampires was increasing at an alarming rate, much faster than her guesswork.

Handing the only weakness she found against the Vampires to her subordinates, she went on the search for the reason for an increase in the vampire population increase. She found out that… the original Vampire shared his boon with his whole race. This boon can be given to him by a witch only. No one in the witch coven would do that. It only means there was a witch out of the coven who was helping the Vampire with evil thoughts.

The high priestess went on the search for the backstabbing witch who was sabotaging nature. But when she found out who, she was nearly killed.
