Chapter 5 - Clearing Demons

We walk up to one of the giant buildings, carefully using all five of our senses. As veterans, we pick up a lot of skills for detecting people without the use of sight. The sound of heavy footsteps can be heard resounding around the building, but oddly, no screams. We all just attributed this fact to all the soldiers being dead.

Looking at the entrance door, we strengthen our resolve. Like a cheating husband that came home late, we carefully open the door hoping that it won't make any sounds. Sadly, just like any cheating husband, the door made a creaking sound, alerting the creature inside.

The sound of footsteps starts to echo across the building. At that moment, we knew we were f****. Quickly, we went into formation. With my four-meter size, I stayed at the front, since controlling the flow of enemies is easiest for me. In front of us are twelve beasts, different in size, charging at us, competing against each other to hunt their prey. Three of them are Endurance Demons, five of them are Strength Demons, and four of them are Speed Demons.

As we observe around the base, we are only able to find three variants of these creatures. Instead of saying a long name like five-meter-long red creatures or something along that line, we categorize them as Endurance Demons, five-meter beasts with black scales covering part of their bodies like armor. Strength Demons are four-meter-tall beasts that have strong pulsing muscles. Speed Demons are three-meter beasts with slim and toned-down muscles.

Looking at the group of demons, we are quite optimistic. Among the demon types, the most dangerous for us is the Speed Demon. The rest of the demon types are great in terms of strength and endurance. However, their speed is too slow to land a proper hit on any of us. Only the speed demon can damage us even when we are fully focused. Seeing that only four of them are speed demons, we feel confident in taking care of the group ahead using our strategy.

The four speed demons were the first to confront us. Using my strength and martial art, I manage to push two of them toward Longbottom and John, letting them take care of two. While I take care of the two still inside the building. I punched hard toward the Speed Demon at the left, but it managed to dodge quickly. Using the opening of my strike, the right Speed Demon quickly took the opportunity to attack me with a quick jab.

The punch caused me to grunt, before grabbing the right Speed Demon hand. With its hand trapped, the Speed Demon struggled to get it off. My other hand quickly came directly to the head of the right Speed Demon. After exploding the damn demon head, the left Speed Demon attacks from the side, hoping to land a power punch. Sadly for the Speed Demon, this wishful thinking never happened. It fist only blowing air, before bang! Gone was its head.

It's by this time where the Strength Demons arrive. The one in the front of the group did a leaping punch. Seeing this, I couldn't help but sneer at its stupid choice of attack. I side stepped to the left before directing my punch toward its oversized head. The acceleration from its fall and my punch combined into a devastating attack. A blood red firework appeared from the impact of my punch.

Another demon charges forward, punching with a powerful punch. I almost laughed at how amateur the fighting style was. I dodged by tilting my body to the right before elbowing the demon in the face. It's head was sent flying, splashing blood across the already bloodied room. The remaining three Strength Demons, even when seeing their brethren die like it was nothing, still jumped forward like there was no tomorrow.

Seeing the three Strength Demons jumping at me at the same time. I jump backward and dodge their attack. Outnumbered, I moved forward, grabbing one of the demons' hands and pulling its body toward me before pushing it toward my other comrade. Being in a two versus one situation, I was fully concentrated. I know for sure I couldn't withstand an attack from one of these Strength Demons.

The one at the right side of me punched, aiming for my chest. Instead of dodging, I redirected the punch of that demon, causing it to punch the steel wall, making its arm get stuck. Quickly, I dash toward the demon on my left. It punched me with a quick jab. I tilted my body at 45 degrees to the right before doing a mighty uppercut. At that point, ladies and gentlemen, the rocket lifted off.

I quickly blast the head of the demon with its arm stuck in the wall after finishing the demon on the left. Feeling confident in my strength, I initiated an attack on the three gigantic Endurance Demons. Among the three types, these guys are the easiest, having the speed of a goddamn snail. No matter how much they try, their blows can not hit a veteran like me.

The one in the middle nearest to me launched a punch toward my direction. I ducked and did a swirling back kick toward the back of it's knee, losing its balance. Seeing the demon fall, I did another rotating kick, this time aiming to destroy its head. Boom! The demon head caves into itself. By this time, another demon was lunging at me. I could dodge it, but I choose to confront it. As the fist came at me, I tilted my body and brought my arm back. With all my might, I punched the demon in the head with every fiber of my body. The demon heads like a balloon with its air loose, flying with mad speed, hitting the wall, sending a big shockwave, crumpling it in the process. As for what was left of the demon's head, it exploded into a beautiful red paint on the wall.

One Endurance Demon was left. It put its hands together and swung it like a hammer toward me. I grin widely as I watch this slow ass heavy attack, finding it amusing that these idiotic demons never learn. The demon attack causes air to run rampantly around the room, like the rest of the attack that came before it. I dodge like a breeze, before sending my own quick and devastating attack. Bam! The demon's jaw was dislocated, and it retaliated with a crazy rotating punch, which I easily avoided before blasting its head off into space.

As my battle ends, the others also finish their fight, leaving three horribly mutilated bodies without a head. Feeling more confident in our strength, we continue clearing the building. Group after group appeared, one after another. It was tiring and painful, courtesy to the Speed Demon. We were lucky to only meet a twelve-demon group with fewer than five Speed Demons, or else the injuries would stack up. I myself have a lot of wounds on my body; bruises, but nonetheless, injuries. They are only light because I avoid letting them hit the same spot twice.

We are now on the third floor, needing to clear only two more to finally rest without worry. Our luck ran out on the fourth floor. In front of us are sixteen demons. Ten of them are Speed Demons, four are Endurance Demons, and two are Strength Demons.

Immediately, I said to Longbottom "Sergeant, here's the strategy. We will do a guardian strategy. I will focus my hardest on killing all of them. During that time, I will leave numerous gaps in my defense. Your job is to prevent them from hitting me."

After telling my strategy to Longbottom. The Commander gave his command of Stand Strong and Fight better. Also, telling John and William to focus on the rest of the demons beside the Speed Demon. Like that, our group clashes in a battle. Two Speed Demon quickly dash toward our group, Longbottom seeing them coming, took a defensive stance. One of the Speed Demons punches forth, only for Longbottom to block it. The other one quickly did a jab on Longbottom's strong metallic skin, leaving a scratch. I, who was a little behind Longbottom, quickly punched the second Speed Demon before kicking quickly toward the first Speed Demon. Easily smashing their heads to pieces.

During the time I spend offing two of the Speed Demons, another one appears with the intent of inflicting pain. Longbottom quickly reacted by jumping in front of me, tanking the blow. Ferociously, I punch toward the third demon's head, piercing through its head. Seeing my hand inside the demon, I ripped its head out of its body, leaving a beautiful red fountain. Another one came forth, but this time I was fully ready. Without skipping a beat, I punched it at the head. Leaving only its body intact. Finishing off this poor Speed Demon, I glanced at the other Speed Demon before smiling wildly and enjoying the thrill of killing them.

I went on a rampage, dashing like a serial killer, catching an escaping victim. Left and right, I destroy their heads, sending them free from their bodies. Wanting to feel more alive, I stopped aiming for the head and instead aimed for other body parts. The seventh Speed Demon attacked me. I swiftly grabbed it hand with my left hand before using my right to rip it hand off. The demon screamed in pain, making me feel a sort of pleasure building up inside my body. My lips crept into a wide smile, before I made a grabbing motion toward it heart. Feeling the heart in my hand, I gripped it hard, squeezing slowly to maximize on inflicting pain. The demon scream stayed true to my imagination, the pain, the suffering, the anguished. Such a beautiful scream of pain, I don't know what happened to me, but I know one thing: something inside of me has awakened. I never felt more alive.

Caught up in my pleasure, I failed to notice a Speed Demon aiming for my head. When Longbottom notices that I'm not paying attention, he rushes in and saves me from certain death. I snapped back to reality before tearing the demon into shreds, like a professional butcher, except the meat was still alive and fresh. The melody of the demon scream is so intoxicating. Like a drug addict, I wanted to hear more of this melody. I quickly made mincemeat of the last remaining demon. As the last Speed Demon fell onto the ground, my mind went blank.
