In a matter of seconds, the ground starts to crack, splitting the already destroyed road into different pieces. Cars fall into those gaping holes into an endless abyss. Destroyed buildings with little ground to hold them in place also fall. During those times, I parkour my way through the gap, trying to get the hell out of the city as fast as possible.
I just went from one stable platform to another, but during one of my jumps, a molten lava pillar burst from the group next to me. The heat strangely wasn't that effective against me, but when I realized demons live in hell, I stopped questioning why. While I don't know if I am perfectly immune to heat, I can safely say that I have more resistance to it than a human would. However, I will still try my hardest to avoid these pillars of molten rock.
I slow my speed of travel by a margin, looking carefully, listening for sound, and looking in between the gaps to see if it's safe to jump between them. This strategy of mine was able to save me from the fate of being fully engulfed by lava several times. Eventually, I was able to adapt to the sound, so I skipped the checking with my own eyes part of the plan. This development has made my escape from the city much better.
About a few minutes before I found anyone, in front of me, I could see a group of ten people helping each other escape from the dangerous situation we were in. Their group consists of six men and four women. From my analysis, two of the men are useless, being skinny with no muscle, and three of the women are the same. They only managed to jump from side to side because one of the guys, I can only presume, has a strength base card to help assist him in carrying people and jumping from platform to platform.
However, that's not important. What's important is that I notice that one of the guys might have some kind of sensor base card that helps sense either danger or magma pattern. I deduce this from his action of pointing in the direction where the group would jump. Every jump that the group made, none came close to being even remotely dangerous. If this is true, this man will be a huge help to me in my survival.
Quickly, I travel to their location. Similarly to my deduction, the man with the sensor base card notices me quickly. When he saw me traveling toward him, the man turned pale before shouting at his members, rushing them to move quicker. The members look at him with puzzled eyes, but none seem to actually question him. Nevertheless, those details don't matter because he will serve me sooner or later. Like a speeding bullet, I quickly caught up with the group of ten.
When my body landed on their platforms, a booming sound spread, combined with the shaking of the platforms. The man with the sensor card, understanding that I was behind the group, quickly shouted to his members, "INTO FORMATION!!!"
Sadly, his group wasn't trained military soldiers, and it took them a while to get into the so-called "Formation." By the look on their faces, I can see that they are feeling confident at how quickly they are getting into their "Formation." At first, I thought of just crashing them quickly before threatening the man with the sensor base card, but I digress from that plan.
Instead, I will show the man why he should be my servant by first crashing his so-called "Formation." Destroying his spirit, I waited a painful 3 seconds before they did their arrangement. I try to put in good words for these fools. However, their formation could only be described as trash, absolute trash. It was literally compiled of the four healthy-looking men and one woman at the front and the deadweight at the back. There wasn't any structure inside this formation, so they wasted half of their human resources.
At first, I thought of having the man as my servant, but now I regret thinking of such things. If their standards weren't even as good as a military recruit squad, then there's no point in having them. I was enraged at how they dared to use my time only to show me failure.
Without skipping a beat, I changed my arm to five meters to swat these useless wastes of space out of my sight. Among the five, three of them managed to dodge in time. The sensor base card guy was among them. Seeing that using 10 percent of my speed didn't work, I switched to 20%. This time only one stayed alive, and not to my surprise, it was the sensor base card guy. It looks like his card isn't just sensing danger. It was much better. This would have made me reconsider his worth. However, it wouldn't sway me to not kill him after seeing how dumb he is.
Seeing that 20% couldn't catch him, I increased it to 30%. That's when he's out of luck. My hand was able to grab a hold of him before slamming him toward the group, breaking his bone into bone fragments. The five useless individuals at the back, or the useless five, didn't do anything during the whole fight. All they did was shake and piss themselves like useless babies. I will do humanity a favor and destroy these useless people who don't even have a single drop of pride inside them. I was able to easily crush the useless five into meat paste.
Without any more delay, I continued my escape from the city. Half an hour went by peacefully until, right from a distance, I could hear glasses breaking. In normal society, we would only assume a store is being robbed when the sound of glass breaking comes from the sky scraper behind me. The gigantic building quickly blocks the sunlight from the horizon. The big looming shadow of the titanic structure covers everything in a 300 meter radius.
Like a man on steroids, I run and jump at speeds I've never thought I could do, trying my best not to get crushed by a thousand-ton building. I squeeze every bit of muscle in my leg to increase my speed. Even when my leg is burning, I just keep running and jumping. In about a few moments, my leg starts to have a big visible vein mark appear. I scream in my head, "Just RUN!" Lockheart Run! Don't Stop Running, Run!
The falling colossus building was now about 100 meters from land, and it's at this point that this building created a powerful pressurized current to the ground below. Facing this pressure, I scream even harder internally to get faster! I AM CAPABLE OF GOING FASTER! This hopeful thought of being faster somehow triggered the sensation I felt again. Except this time I felt like I was lighter than before.
Feeling the boost, I chuckled to myself, shouting to the sky, "SCREW YOU FATE, I WILL NOT DIE HERE. YOU THINK YOU DECIDE IF I LIVE OR DIE. NO, IT ISN'T YOU THAT DECIDE. MY FATE IS DECIDED BY ME, LOCKHEART!!!!!!!!!!!"
After my declaration, I sped up even faster and faster. While I got faster, the building was falling faster too. It was a race between me and the building, between fate and me. Who will be faster? Who will have the last laugh? The distance between me and the building is getting closer and closer as the clocks tick. I can feel the wind pushing against me from the building. Was I scared? Did I feel fear? No! I DID NOT! This life and death fight against fate made my blood pumping. There's no way my pride would let me lose. Nothing, not even death, will be able to stop me as long as I live.
"AHHHH!!!!!" I shouted out loud as the building was only 20 meters away from me while I was trying my best to get out of its radius. As I run, at some point, I can hear my veins popping from the pressure I put on my body. The injury to my leg hurt. It hurt like hell, but I didn't stop. Stopping is accepting death, and accepting death is losing your pride, and I will never let that happen.
The distance came even closer between the building and the ground. 10 went into 5, 5 into 4, 4 into 3, 3 into 2, 2 into 1. A massive shockwave spread across the area, creating a massive smoke cloud, destroying everything in its debris.
