Boom! Explosions of fire spread across the land, destroying the earth and shattering it into pieces. The cause of this destruction came from a giant demon with flames bursting from its back. It looked at its smaller foe, frustrated that it could never hit it. That foe was, of course, me. It's been 15 minutes since the start of our battle. Most of the fight was me running around and trying not to get killed by its flaming ball of death. Throughout the fight, the demon would always use its fireball after a period of 30 seconds. This obvious clue shows that the demon needs to recharge before shooting.
This has lessened the danger of this demon, because at this point I am able to easily predict its attacks. However, I wasn't able to do harm or even approach the demon, since this demon does have a fire defensive ability. The first time, I was about to close in on it and strike damage. Sadly, the demon quickly generated a fire aura around itself, causing me to almost be cooked alive. The worst part is that testing this demon limit is the most dangerous of all.
The fire aura of the demon isn't one that you can see visually. Like the aura in its name suggests, it's invisible. I was only able to survive because of the sense of danger I developed during my time in the military. I do have a vague estimate of its range, but there are many factors that I don't know. The rate at which the heat rises and cools down has this ability.
This ability frustrated me for the whole 15 minutes, until I came up with a plan. The plan is simple, for the next duration of the fight. I will place around rocks as an indicator of distance, to make sure they won't move or get destroyed by the demon fire ball. I need to maneuver carefully. Using the 30 second cooldown to place these stones.
With these stone places, I will approach the demon. Making activates its ability, the stone's role in determining the true distance of the ability and the rate of temperature increase. So with that plan in mind, I started.
The demon shoots a fireball at me. Seeing it coming, I dodged, then quickly ran toward a big rock and placed it 20 meters away from the demon. The time I took was 10 seconds, with 20 seconds to spare. Using that time I look around to see other big rocks. Seeing my goal, I quickly turned my attention toward the demon lunging at me. Swiftly, I made some distance between me and the demon. The demon tried to catch up, but I didn't run horizontally, choosing to switch directions to disorient the demon's balance and slow it down.
In my analysis, the demon shoots a fireball after 30 seconds. It shoots the fireball and easily circles around the demon before going to the other rock. This took 20 seconds, 10 seconds before the demon shot its fire attack. I was able to place the rock at a 1 meter distance from the other in five seconds. Having 5 seconds left, I quickly distanced myself from the rock and manipulated the demon to walk away from the rocks.
The process of going around the demon went on for another 15 minutes before I was able to get a rock ruler of 30 meters in length. Now it's the difficult part, making sure that the demon stands at point 0 while he activates his ability to know the full range and rate of the fire aura.
The way I do it is to wait for the fireball cooldown to come up. It's at that point that the demon will stand still the longest. Using that opportunity, I will engage and close in on the demon. If all goes to plan, I will be able to gather a great chunk of this demon's ability.
So, the plan starts now. The demon just shoots it a ball of fire. Now I just need to manipulate its movement to stand at the point where I want to make the plan come into fruition. After shooting it with a fireball, the demon gave chase to me. I respond by putting a 30 meter distance between us. In a full 20 seconds, I was able to make the demon come near the spot. With 10 seconds remaining, I tried to use many movement techniques to make the demon move to the spot, but the attempt was a failure.
Nevertheless, the failure did give me more experience in manipulating and timing the movement of the demon. I repeated the process for about 23 times before finally finding the right timing to let the beast stay in the spot I wanted. When I saw the beast in the exact spot I wanted it to be, I charged at it, paying attention to the change in temperature. In the first few seconds, I felt next to no heat. However, some instincts are telling me otherwise. I would only start to feel the heat when 20 seconds had passed.
So I checked on the rock to see how it was reacting, but so far nothing has happened. So, I continue to stay in its fire aura to the point where I can see a reaction to the rock and calculate the rise of heat. Finally, after 10 seconds passed, did I finally see a reaction from the rock. It's now melting, which shows me that the temperature has reached 1,500 degrees Celsius. Surprisingly, even at that temperature, I only have the sensation of being in a sauna. So that means my fire resistance is high and the fire produced by users with fire cards must also be really hot, melting rocks hot.
If I were to do the calculations, the heat would rise 46.875 Celsius per second and the distance of the fire aura is 25 meters. Looking at the amount of time I have, it's not looking good for my plan to kill this demon. I either need to kill it quickly or find a way to kill it slowly. The first plan is almost impossible, while the second plan is possible. However, I need to know a lot of things, and the most important of them is to fully understand the regeneration factor of this demon. To see how much damage I need to do consistently to bypass the regeneration and deal real damage.
So to estimate its regeneration, I need to understand my own regeneration first before trying to make an educated guess on how much damage I need to deal with the demon. To test my own regeneration, I cut my arm off. After I cut my arm off, I dodge and count the seconds that have gone by since I cut my arm. Dodging the demon attack is simple because I've learned everything this stupid piece of sh** can do in the last 30 minutes. He has only 3 moves, and the moves are attack in a pattern. I simply can't comprehend the mind of the stupid on this one. If I were to have this ability, I would easily destroy an army in modern times.
Oh well, there's no time to complain. Let's continue counting. So I overestimated my healing ability a little bit. I thought my arm would fully regenerate by the day. However, that's not the case. It's been a day and only half of my arm is back. In the modern world, this would count as legendary regeneration, but I wasn't proud of it. However, it's good news though. It looks like demon regeneration isn't as over-exaggerated as I thought it would be. However, that only counted on me. The demon in front of me, while hard to admit, is above my standard.
During the time I spend counting, I figure out a detail. The demon that met me in the base would bow first before attacking. However, this one just attacked immediately. It's true, I did throw it with a rock, but that rock didn't do a single harm to it. Also, I've seen demons punch each other accidentally while fighting me, and they would pass it along as long as it didn't cause much harm. So there's no reason for it to kill me. Unless it's a demon with a higher hierarchy and seeing me disrespected it. Using it as justification to kill me, at least that's what I would do, and I think it has the same mindset as me.
If there's a hierarchy in the demon, that means the demon has a civilization. While I don't know what determines someone's standing in the demon society. My best guess is power, for this beast is clearly much more powerful than me in raw strength, endurance, and magic. While the one that bows to me is clearly trash when compared to me. So how much strength disparity does it need to be for a demon to be above another demon in standing.
This, I don't know, but we will find out when I finish killing this overgrown dog. So onto the plan for killing it. The plan is simple: I will use 30 seconds to deal damage to its leg to imbalance it first. Then when it has difficulty moving, I will take my time to make it shorter so that I can eventually cut off its head in the least risky way. With the plan set, I will now put it into motion. After, my arm decide to regenerate fully.
