Set in the same universe as Greek Gods Apostle by Squigul
Greece, 445 BC
The Greek militaries, powerful, large and organized. They are a collection of the most lethal forces to ever walk the earth. And I, was about to join one. My name is Sorenacles, I don't know my last name, I was abandoned as a child. The name Sorenacles was given to me, by me. I had dreamed for much of my life of joining one of the Greek armies, more specifically, the Athenian army, as I have lived all my life in Athens. I longed to be part of one of the great military victories I had heard stories of, such as the victory over the Trojans with a wooden horse. I never believed the myths of heroes who had powers bestowed upon them by the gods. The gods have never had any interest in human affairs, they never have, and never will. Or so I thought.
Anyway, I recently turned eighteen. I've had the chance to join the armies of Athens for a few years now, but I always failed in training, and was sent "home", or I would if I had one, but this year, I finally made it in. The details on the training are unimportant, they were long, repetitive, and arduous. I would just bore you if I told you the details.
It was a humid summer night when I got the letter:
Sorenacles,
By order of the general of your platoon,
you are to appear for introductions to your
higher ups, and to swear an oath that
you shall give your life to the army of
Athens tomorrow. Not showing up shall
be considered an act of cowardice,
and you shall be discharged and imprisoned,
or executed.
So, I went. All it was was me being introduced to my general and other higher-ups, and swearing an oath of death if I was to betray or refuse orders.
After this, the general pulled me aside into his private residence, which was where he would speak in private to soldiers.
"Sorenacles, right?" he asked. His stair was sharp, if stares could kill, I would of felt the pain of dying infinite times.
"Yes sir."
"Usually, I wait until later to tell this to soldiers, but I think I want to tell you this now."
"Tell me what, sir?" I was puzzled, why would the general himself pull me aside?
"Well, Sorenacles," he pulled out a blood stained gladious, "if you disappoint me, you never will again."
He smiled eerily.
"S-sir?"
"If you disappoint me, you will die."
"But sir, if you do that, surely someone would find out, and you would be executed,"
His smile grew eerier, how he was grimacing showed he clearly enjoyed murder.
"B-but the corpses-"
"Are delicious. And now you know too much. I'm afraid you'll have to, disappear!"
The next thing I knew he was next to me. His blade coming straight for my heart. I was paralyzed in fear, and then, my lips moved on their own.
"I call upon The Wrath of the Titans!"
The room was filled with a blinding light.
We have heard your wish for our powers in your time of need, and have decided.
We shall grant you the power you seek, but not without Sacrifice.
My lips moved on their own again.
"LIFE DRAIN, BLEED MY FOES DRY!"
And then, I blacked out.
