Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Prometheus

Disclaimer: This chapter includes the use of slightly offensive language/not very bad slur. If you want to read this without that slur, it's in brackets later on in the chapter.

Also, this chapter focuses heavily on talking, so it may be boring, but it's important.

White.

All I could see was white.

I could feel something beneath my feet ground maybe? No, there's nothing there.

I must have died to general Hector.

I'm such a fool, I died so young.

"So, is this the gate to Hades?" I said in jest, taking my situation far too lightly.

Then, a voice replied.

"No," the voice said.

"Then where is this?"

"This, realm you could call it, is in your mind. Deep within, but full of possibilities."

"Am I just hearing your voice in my head too?"

"Not exactly. Turn around."

I did so. Before me, I saw a tall, muscular figure. He had mid length brown hair, short facial hair, a strongly shaped nose, not crooked one bit, deep red eyes and a wide mouth.

He spoke.

"My name is Prometheus."

"I'm Sorenacles."

"I know."

His voice was stern, yet somehow calm at the same time. His words cut into me like a well sharpened dagger, yet felt soothing.

He spoke again.

"If I'm correct you felt like you were unable to move your body."

"Yes."

"And then you spoke, barely conscious of your actions and having no control?"

"Also yes."

"I suppose I owe you an explanation."

"No need, I already know it was fear-"

"Wrong. What actually happened was I took control of your body. If I had not, you would have died."

"But why did you do that?"

"You see, I, and likely other deities have taken a liking to you. I admire your resilience, no matter how many times you were put down, you just got back up, and while you may not be particularly courageous, resilience is an admirable feature, and I commend you for yours."

"T-thank you?"

"Sorenacles."

"Yes?"

'"I have a task for you."

"What is it?"

"Kronos is once again powerful. Soon, he will be strong enough to once again breath tyranny over this land. Your task is to prove your worth to the gods, and gain their favour. By doing this you shall earn their powers, and with those powers, you will be strong enough to fight Kronos."

This took my by surprise. Me? Gaining unfathomable powers and fighting Kronos? There must be a mistake.

"Soranecles, to help you in your journey, I bestow upon you my powers 'guiding flame' and 'life drain' to use at will. However, I must warn you. The use of godly powers comes at a sacrifice. Most sacrifices have a way to be avoided, but it's often difficult."

"Sacrifices? L-like a human life?"

"Oh gods no, (unless it's Hades, you never know with that bastard). For example, life drain also drains the user's life energy for a certain amount of time, but the amount that is drained can be reduced by taking more lives with it. Anyway, it's time you returned to the mortal plane. Awake!
