Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

Someone knocked on the door of the room I was in

"You're on"

I closed my eyes back for a few seconds, before leaving the room

I placed my go-to smile as I walked out and was welcomed by applause

"Thank you for joining us today, Miss Elijah," the female anchor who sat beside me started

"It's my pleasure, Stellar" I replied

"It's our honor, really, to have someone such as you join us today. An excellent best-selling author" she said

I laughed and gave a slight bow to the clapping audience

"You just published a new book, His Black Exorcist. And in less than a month, thousands of copies have been sold. How does that make you feel?" she asked

"A lot of emotions are swirling in me, so I cannot really pick one. But"

I looked at the screen

"I would like to thank every single person for having an interest in His Black Exorcist. Thank you so much"

"Did you know that this was the response you were going to get for your books?"

"Honestly, I had a feeling I was going to get a good response, but this really surpasses my expectation"

It was a rule to be as humble as possible. Show a little humility and they unconsciously do your bidding

So far, everything was going as scripted

"Have you ever regretted following this path, being an author?" she asked

"I do not think I have," I answered

"Is it a wonder how good you are at writing books? Is it what you have always set out to do?" she asked

I paused

"Sorry?" I asked, hinting at her to not go astray

"I heard whispers from the wind that you were heading in a different direction"

I gave a tight smile. I had to be perfect on camera

"Along with your sister, was it?"

I turned my head in her direction, my hands were balled into fists

"What was the previous path you intended on taking with your sister?"

"I do not think that question is important"

I laughed, sending one more warning

"Many people have been curious and, to be honest, I have also wondered"

I took the bottle of water from the table

"Why did you not follow that path?"

I uncapped it and placed it close to my lips

"Why did you become an author? Was is because your sister d...?"

Then the bottle fell

"Oh, my" I gasped

"I am so sorry"

I gave a sheepish laugh

A lady came from the stands to help me clean the mess

"Can we take a break?"

Before she responded, I turned to the screen

"We'll be right back. I am so sorry for the delay" I said as I tucked a stray piece of hair into my head

The red light went off and I knew we were no longer on air

The make-up artists came over to do some little touch up on our faces

"Did we not already decide on what was to be said, Stellar? Do you not think you are biting more than what you can chew?"

"What do you mean?" she asked back, feigning innocence

"Thank you," I said to be lady doing my face and they both left

I turned to Stellar

"Oh, you mean going through the scripts"

She crossed her legs

"You see, I was going to do that, but what is the fun in that? There must be some spice here and there"

"Are you sure you can handle it, I wonder?"

She smiled

"I will take care of myself. Now, shall we continue?"

She nodded to the media

"Welcome back. We left off with some questions for Miss Elijah?"

"It is true that I planned to do something else, but as we all know, life is not a bed of roses, but I am lucky to be part of the fortunate ones"

"Was that being rude?" I asked the audience

Some of them laughed while some replied, 'No!"

"Thank you for your understanding. I did not mean to be rude if I did. How can I when I am aware of how much people work so hard? Is that not right, Stellar"

"I also agree with you. As for..."

"Oh, Stellar, ever so humble. You are an inspiration to both women and humans. How can you be humble even with all that you went through"

"What could I have gone through?"

She was still smiling, so she did not know what card I was going to play

'This is going to be lovely'

"You know, childhood and stuff"

She tensed up

I crossed my legs and looked turned to the audience

"Do you all want to know what makes Stellar so inspirable

"Miss Elijah" Stellar begged

"Our dear Stellar had to go through terrible child abuse at a very young in the hands of her mother and boyfriends. If I am correct, there was even attempted rape"

She got up and walked out in a rush

"Are you okay, Stellar dear?" I called out after her

I looked clueless

"Did I do something wrong? Actually

I rose up

"I better go check up on her"

I left the shocked audience, crew, and the rest

She was resting on the bathroom sink, trying to breathe properly, when I walked in

I walked over and washed my hands

"Had I known you were going to be such a crybaby, I would have dragged it as long as I could. This is why I warned you not to bite more than you can chew"

"Are you even human?"

I laughed

"If I am not, what am I then?"

"A monster"

"Is that so? When you pestering insects spew nonsense, it is just doing your work, but when someone like me gives you a dose of your own medicine, it is being a monster. Does that sound funny only to me?"

I started to walk out but stopped just by the door. I walked back towards her and stood

One. Two. Three. I slapped

She held her cheeks as she looked at me in disbelief

"I do not have to explain to you but listen to me carefully. The first slap is for my trying to use my sister to promote myself. The second is for even daring to mess with me. let me give you a sincere piece of advice; do not even mess with me. You may try with others, and they act all pathetic, but I am not like that. Bite more than you can chew again, and I will make sure that not only do your teeth break, but every organ in your system is damaged. The other two were to emphasize this point"

I walked over to the car that was parked at a spot void of reporters

I got into the car, but just waited there in the silence

I opened my phone and scrolled through the comment section for the show

How is Raelyn so pretty? I wish I were like her 😭😍

Did everyone see her tucking her hair? So cute!!! đŸ„°đŸ„°đŸ€©

I love how innocent she is

Attempted rape?! 😡😠Did her mother know she was almost raped?

I am sure she did but did not say anythingđŸ˜€đŸ˜¶đŸ˜ đŸ˜ĄđŸ„ș

Raelyn is so caring. See how she ran after Stellar

After I made sure there was no mention of my sister, I relaxed

"Are you happy?"

I consider ignoring the voice, but I replied

"Did you forget? You took away my happiness"

"For goodness' sake, mom. I have told you not to switch my radio when using my car. If you want to so bad, the least you can do is switch it back" I complained as soon as I entered the house

"Well, I could not bear to drive in silence. And switching your radio is not exactly what I have in front of my mind" she answered

"You seriously aren't going to enter my car again,"

"Raelyn" my dad called stopping my mount

I sighed

"Yes, dad" I answered

"Do not give me that tone, lady. What is this?" he asked, pointing to the TV.

"TV? Is that not very obvious?" I asked

"Raelyn!"

"What is it?" my mom asked

She always tried to intervene whenever things were getting heated, but I never asked for it. Sometimes, I want to see the end of the situation without her coming in-between

She gasped

"What in the heaven is this?" she asked

She looked at me, wide-eyed

"Do not look at me like that. What should I have done, then? Let her walk all over me and go free? No way in hell is that happening" I said

"Raelyn Elijah!" she shouted

I could not tell why she shouted; because of what I did, or because of what I said?

"You do not use that language in this house"

"I do not see why not" my dad responded

She turned to my dad

"You do not see why not? This house is anointed..."

"Do not start that now, Abigail"

"Do not start what, Caleb?"

"Do not start that..."

I climbed up to my room, knowing whatever discussion I was going to be in was already over
