I was taken aback when I saw Aaron leaning on the wall outside the hospital

He kept his gaze on me, then cleared his throat and walked away

"Were you waiting for me?" I teased

"Well, who else would I be waiting for?"

The teasing smile on my face vanished as I rolled my eyes

"Why did you wait then if you're still angry?" I muttered

"Who told you I am angry? Besides, how could I let you get home by yourself? This is a small home, but you were still lost this morning- one would think you were at the Redemption Camp" he replied

"I am not giving an excuse, but I think you are forgetting this is my first time out," I said

"Such a typical excuse to give" he scoffed

"How could you even get lost? Do you have direction issues?"

He was obviously playing with me

"That aside, how was your first day?" he asked

"Annoying," I replied simultaneously

Although I responded in spite, it was true, I so did not fancy prying people; they were like bugs crawling up and down my body. But what annoyed me the most was the calm that settled in my heart in everything

"I see" was all he said

I looked at him

"I would have been surprised if you said something different, but your answer suits you perfectly"

I took a deep breath and began to walk off

"One more thing!" he called out

He reached me

"Make sure to wear comfortable clothes tomorrow that will be good for a workout. Today was your first day, but you will be hazed tomorrow" he said

I began to ask him why, but he had already gone

The walk home was undisturbed

D was sitting in her favorite chair; the chair she always sat in when she was not in the kitchen.

"Hey, dear" she called to me with a smile

As usual, I smiled also

"Hey"

"How was work?" she asked

The smile dissipated

She laughed at that

"Your answer has been well delivered, my lady," she said

"I should never have chosen the hospital," I added as I walked over to the kitchen

"Well, it was either that or going to the church, and you know..." she trailed off

I placed the empty cup down on the counter and turned to her

"You are enjoying this, are you not?" I asked

She just shrugged and focused back on what she was knitting

I shook my head as I walked up the stairs

"What of dinner?" she asked

"We will see,"

I went straight to my bed

"Come on, you can no longer sleep till late. You have work" I heard Davina say but I still tried to hold onto my sleep

I failed though

"Finally," she said with a victorious smile

I rolled my eyes

"I have gotten your outfit ready, you just need to shower, then come down for breakfast"

"You picked my outfit?" I asked in confusion

"I knew you would not be leaving bed early" she replied

I stopped at the front of the door

"Also, I do not sleep late into the day," I corrected

"Do you check the time when you wake up?"

"I am not someone who sleeps late into the day, D. I have never slept late, and..."

"I get what you say," she nodded

"You sure are not. Now, do not forget your towel because I am sure you do not want to be left at the mercy of the chilly morning air"

"I..."

"Oh, I know. You are not a person who leaves the towel when entering the bathroom, I was the one who made you somehow forget. I am aware of that" she said and left the room before I could say anything

I must leave this place as soon as possible; I thought as I went into the shower

The outfit Davina got me fit the suggestion of Aaron

"Thanks for helping me pick out the outfit,"

She smiled at me

"But why pants though?" I asked

"You will need it and Aaron said to make you wear something like that" she replied

"Why? For what?"

"That, my dear, is for you to find out," she said

All of a sudden, she tapped on my nose. I was startled, by what she did, but more by how that little action pulled at my heartstrings

"Now, you just sit down, breakfast is almost ready"

Seconds later, she placed my breakfast in front of me
